Aaron sat in the waiting room when Kian walked in. The billionaire was with Miss Chae-Soo, and he gave them some privacy to talk. The burns on his arms would leave scars, but he never regretted running in to help Sienna. Luckily he did because they saved Declan’s life.
“Aaron, hey. Thanks for letting me know that Declan is awake. I stopped the news from spreading about the fire. As far as the public knows, the fire was caused by a short circuit, and everyone got out as soon as it started. The witnesses have been paid to keep quiet.” Kian remarked and sat down next to Aaron. This was the first time they had seen one another since the night of the masquerade ball.
“Thank you, Kian. I know Mr Foster wouldn’t want to truth to spread. It just causes unnecessary scandal.” Aaron stated.
“I’m glad to see you are still working for Mr Foster.”
“I deci
Declan helped Sienna out of the car as they stopped by the beach. He thanked Zem then led his fake fiance towards an ice cream shop. The billionaire ordered chocolate chip flavour while the waitress took a while to decide and finally chose blueberry cheesecake. When they got the ice cream, it had candyfloss covering it, which made Sienna feel bubbly. It was strange for the emotionless, strict billionaire to enjoy something that looked fun.“To be honest, I thought you wouldn’t even eat ice cream,” Sienna stated as they walked on the beach. It was a warm day, and a soft breeze blew while children laughed and shouted from splashing in the waves.“Maybe I don’t show it, but I do like joyful things such as candyfloss and ice cream.” He winked and took her hand in his. Someone pulled out their phone and took a photo as the couple walked past, but Declan let it slide. He was in a good mood today.
“Are we going back to the hotel?” Sienna asked as Declan climbed into the car. She didn’t think much about how the billionaire let his emotions show but rather had Ryan’s words in her thoughts. What did he mean by difficult to love? Was that because of Declan’s temper? She also thought about how they said she would hate the billionaire when she learnt the truth.“Nope. I’m taking you on our first date.” Declan smiled, which made Sienna lose her train of thought. His gorgeous smile made butterflies flutter in her stomach, and the idea of a date made her heart glow. He was actually trying to make her feel special and do regular things like any couple would.“Do I need to change?”“You look perfect already.” He stated, which made her blush. They chatted a bit about the new house, and Declan didn’t even ask what Ryan spoke to Sienna about. He was t
Aaron released a breath he didn’t realise he was holding and sank back onto his bed. Kian found it annoying that Aaron was relieved the billionaire didn’t suspect anything and wished their boss would have walked in on them kissing. At least then they didn’t have to hide and sneak around.“Aaron, I’m trying to be understanding, but you need to stop hiding who you are,” Kian stated and grabbed his phone and car keys.“Where are you going?” Aaron asked and watched the handsome assistant walk towards the door again.“Home. I hid myself away for long enough, and you just expect me to stay hidden when I am proud of who I am. I even accepted that we just kiss and don’t have sex. I’ve been patient, Aaron, but it’s getting too much. I can’t hide that I want to be with you, and if you can, then I don’t think this is going to work out.”
Aaron sat down in front of Sienna and offered her an apologetic smile. “Here, take this; it’s awesome,” Aaron stated and handed her a bottle of juice. “Thanks, my throat is a bit sore,” Sienna replied and gave him a small smile. Even though she hated Declan, Aaron was still a good guy and her friend. “From all the unnecessary screaming,” Declan mumbled under his breath, then said louder for everyone to hear, “We just waiting for Mr van Zyl then we will depart.” Aaron stared at the bottle in his hand and was surprised by Declan’s statement. He didn’t know Kian would be joining them on this trip. He hadn’t seen him since that night he walked away… well, he should have assumed Kian would join; this is his future branch in any case. Aaron still hadn’t spoken to Declan, but he wanted to, just something more important or an issue surfaced. Sienna rolled her eyes when Declan s
Why was it so difficult for them to find a neutral level? Sienna sighed and sat near the window to watch the snowfall. The cold wasn’t her favourite, but the white sheet covering the ground and mountains looked incredible. She touched the cold window, and it steamed up, leaving her handprint on the glass. She breathed on the window and drew a heart on the foggy area. She wished she could have found love, but so far, no one had been the one. She found men in her past weird and didn’t give them any attention… until she met Declan. She thought he would be the one for some time, but now it felt like her life had no room for romantic love.Declan walked towards the bar area and found Aaron having a drink. He walked over to him and offered him a smoke.“Where’s the boyfriend?” Declan asked and lit his cigarette.“We haven’t put a title on our relationship, b
Aaron noticed Sienna was fuming and watched her short hair sway as she walked away. She looked different tonight. She was confident and gorgeous, which made all the men like her, but how she spoke and carried herself is why they respected her. Not many wives know about their husbands’ companies, which made Sienna stand out among the crowd.“Miss Chae-Soo, wait!” Aaron called and hurried after her down the passage.“Just leave me alone for a bit.” She mumbled and stopped to face him. “How could Declan just flirt with another woman in front of me? Even if this is all fake, it’s disrespectful, and everyone judged me for not making him happy enough. You should have been the disgust on those women’s faces. I have never been made to feel so small in my life.” She said, frustrated.“Sienna, you are a perfect woman, and anyone would be lucky to have you. The investor li
The avalanche that covered Kosciuszko National Park was all over the news for the next few weeks. 32 people made it out alive, 45 dead and 7 still missing. Everyone grieved over the death of Kian van Zyl, but Aaron was especially heartbroken. He remembered his last words to him, and they repeated in his head. “Go help her,” Kian said and gestured towards Sienna as she walked off. Aaron didn’t need to be told twice and instantly followed after her. He wondered if those were Kian’s last words to him for a reason. Was this purpose in life to help Sienna? He prayed for days for an answer and waited for Kian to show him a sign that he was okay. Aaron locked himself in his room and mostly cried while his mind raced with what-ifs and regrets. He wished he hadn’t followed Sienna and died that night next to Kian. At least they could have been together. Then, on the other hand, he felt lucky that he did go after her and could live on another day.
Sienna walked back over to the group and gave Aideen a hug goodbye.“Please don’t go to bed yet,” Aideen whined and held onto Sienna.“Do you feel unwell?” Declan asked and wondered why she wanted to turn in for the night. Sienna usually went to bed late and stayed up studying, reading or just binge-watching a series.“No,” Sienna yawned and stretched out her arms. “I’m just sleepy,” She added. Declan nodded, and everyone said goodnight. Sienna walked back to her room and ran herself a bath full of bath salts; the scent of lemongrass filled the air. She felt extremely relaxed and lay in the water with her eyes closed. She thought back to all of the awful things that Declan had done to her and that she did to him. She forgave him, and maybe it was stupid of her to still want to be with him, but her heart believed there was good inside of him.
