Chapter 34

Aideen was strong and held her emotions together while she spoke. Caleb admired her for that and watched as her messy bun slowly unravelled and her gorgeous hair fell down to her shoulders. The light reflected against her hair which made it look sleek. The shine made her eyes appear even brighter, and he felt like everything around him disappeared as he stared into those electric blue orbs. For a second, everything froze as she gazed into his eyes, and he felt this immense connection shoot through him.

Caleb quickly looked away from her and focused his attention on the case. He tried to distance himself by being professional and asked, “Where were you on Monday night?”

Aideen almost seemed disappointed that the detective broke the moment they were experiencing. Her lips pressed together into a line, and her eyes seemed wider than usual.

“Ryan had come over for dinner, and I only got him to leave around 1. That man
