CHAPTER SIX

Selene’s POV

Ethan dropped me into the passenger seat and retrieved his phone from his pants pocket.

His hand shook as he looked at the screen. I bit my lower lip knowing who was calling. It was obvious.

Just when I thought I had my husband now, this b!tch came back again.

"Selene, I have to go, Kayla needs me," Ethan said and darted off to his other car.

Was he about to leave me here?

"I've called Dave to drive to the hospital." He muttered and before I could blink, Ethan drove out of our compound.

Dave was his manager. He couldn't ask Dave to attend to Kayla who even had her family but he asked him to attend to me.

He said Kayla needed him but I was his wife and pregnant with his baby and needed him too! When I thought he was back to being my Ethan and felt I could tell him about the pregnancy, he went off again.

I felt devastated. A strong lump formed in my throat. Why was Ethan doing this to me? Hot tears streamed down my face.

Why was he placing her above me? Why was he making me feel like I was an option in his life?

I shook from intense crying while in the car. He brought me to the car but left me here.

Seconds later, Dave appeared in my compound. He must've entered a taxi seeing he didn't come with a car.

"Hello, Mrs Taylor." He muttered but I  could only nod my head at him.

"The boss said to take you to a hospital." He voiced, but I shook my head. There was no point. I was just coming back from the hospital. All I needed was to take my prescription and rest more at home here.

"Thank you Dave, but I'm just coming back from a hospital.. no need for that anymore.."

"But.." He tried to object, but I raised my palm. He stopped immediately.

Gently, I came down from the car, he came forward to help me but I held my hand out. I wasn't in labour yet, I could still manage myself. Slowly I passed through the entrance of our penthouse to my room.

Ethan might get angry that he didn't take me to the hospital, but that was old Ethan not this new man in my life now. He doesn't care anymore.

The poor guy could just go back to the company to continue his work, I know he had so much on his plate now that Ethan had been busy with his mistress.

When I got to my room. I lay weakly on my bed. The loneliness of the space creeping into my soul.

Just a few months back, Ethan and I were all loving and smooching in this place, but today he was out of sight, no seconds to spare for me.

I sighed heavily.

Just then, my phone screen shone bright.  

It was Ethan. He was texting again. His Almighty Kayla must be sleeping.

'Why didn't you go to the hospital??' He wrote.

I scoffed and put down my phone. I had been stressed enough. There was nothing to say to him. All I needed now was good rest, eat, and recover so I could start processing my divorce with him.

If I start getting through that in this condition, I might really encounter a miscarriage. That could kill me, going through Ethan's heartbreak and then losing my baby? I couldn't even think about that. Hence I decided once I recover from this, I'd present to him what he so desires so he could completely be with his mistress.

A few minutes into it, Emma brought food to my room.

I blessed the day I met this girl. She had made my favourite. Even though I had no appetite I must eat this for the sake of the baby.

She dropped it in front of me and set to leave, but I asked her to stay.

I had been alone in this room for too long, I needed someone's presence.

I fetched her some of the food she brought and we ate together, in my room. When we were done, she packed up and left for the kitchen.

I felt some liveliness as I drifted off to sleep immediately.

I had taken the doctor's advice to rest well too personal as I woke several hours later.

Getting up from my bed, I decided to take a long warm shower.

Several minutes later, I was done.

When I came out of the bathroom, my pupils dilated at the sight in front of me.

Who had entered my room? Was Ethan back?
