"Jane Cullen,"

I am checking out some clothes in the boutique when I hear a deep voice behind me. I instantly turn to the back.

My brows snap together. It is Jeremy, one of biggest business icons in the city and Christian's biggest enemy.

I can't help but wonder what he is doing in the boutique. I hope he is not here to cause mischief.

Jeremy flashes a flirtatious smile at me, rubbing his temple. "You are always looking beautiful. Christian is indeed lucky to have you as a secretary. Well, and his girlfriend," He utters.

I swallow a gulp down my throat. I hate the way he paused before adding "his girlfriend ". How did he know that I'm dating Christian? Even though it is a fake relationship, I want it to be private.

"How did you know about my relationship with Christian?" I question him.

Jeremy smirks."I know everything. Why do you love being trapped with Christian? Is it not obvious that the son of a bitch is using you?" He bombards me with questions.

"H.. He is not u.. using me." I stammer.

"I hate when you defend him," Jeremy mutters under his breath. "I want you to work for me. Let's control the world together."

I shake my head. "No."

Jeremy moves a few steps closer to him. He wants to hold my wrist when a voice stops him.

"Don't touch her."

The moment I heard the voice, I already knew that it was the blue eyed devil. I like that he is here, at the right time.

"What if I do?" Jeremy retorts, jerking his head to the direction where the voice is coming from.

"Don't touch her." Christian warns him once again.

I watch as Christian starts walking towards us, throwing deadly glares at Jeremy.

"You don't have the right to tell me what to do." Jeremy snaps.

Christian crosses his arms over his chest. "I won't bother to exchange words with a lowlife like you. Just get lost," He says rudely.

"Of course, I am leaving here. I hate your presence already," Jeremy scoffs, then turns to me."Don't forget what I said. Think about yourself before anything or anyone."

He glares at Christian, before walking out of our presence.

Christian let out a hiss. "Son of a bitch," He utters under his breath.

"What were you doing with Jeremy?" Christian's voice jerks me out of my thoughts.

"Nothing." I reply.

His brows draw together. "What do you mean by "nothing"? I saw you together with him and you were both discussing." He queries.

"Nothing." I repeat.

All of a sudden, he grabs me by my waist pulling me closer to him, I was trapped in his arms.

"People are around. Someone could be watching us."I say, my lips are trembling.

"I don't care. Do you want to betray me, Jane Cullen?" His voice resounds in my head, it comes out as a harsh whisper.

"No." I mutter.

"Then, what are you doing with Jeremy? You of all people should know how much I detest him and you also know the number of workers I've sacked over their closeness with Jeremy." Christian barks.

"I can't betray you. Jeremy was about to tell me something when you interrupted. That is all. "I lie, avoiding his intense eye contact.

"I hate when people lie to me.

"I know."

"Don't betray me." He whispers softly into my ears.

"I promise I won't betray you." I vow.

"Don't leave me, Jane."

My eyes widen. I am surprised at what he said just now.

"Don't leave me, Jane "

I don't know why but it sounds kind of romantic to me. I gazed at him with a questioning look.

Christian clears his throat, threading his fingers through his silky hair."Don't get me wrong. I mean, don't quit your work. It won't be easy for me to get an experienced person like you," He rambles.

"Is that why you don't want me to quit, to the extent that you made those offers?" I ask, hoping that I won't get an answer that will break my heart.

"Well, yes." He responds.

My eyelids drop."Okay."

"Are you done with your shopping?"

I nodded my head in the affirmative even though I am not done yet. He already spoiled my mood. Why should I continue with the damn shopping?

He is so used to bossing me around, that he doesn't want me to quit. He feels like he won't get any other person who could be competent like me. Such a petty and possessive human being!

"I'll drop you home then." He utters.

I'm kinda surprised. On a normal day, we'll go to his house and I'll help him with some unfinished assignments. Then, I will go to my house around 10pm. Of course, I will go by myself. He won't drop me at home.

Why is he acting so different?

We walk to the reception area. I am leading the way, while he is trailing behind me. I feel like he is staring intensely at me. Why is this man acting so creepy?

I paid for all that I bought using the credit card he gave me, then we went to the parking lot.

"I dismissed Felix, he complained about having a throbbing headache."Christian e

tells me, as we are walking towards his car.

"Okay."

I don't understand why he has to tell me this information. Or, is he acting like a boyfriend who tells his girlfriend everything?

"You will have to drive then." Christian drops the bombshell.

I squeeze my eyes shut for a second. It dawns on me that he told me about Felix so that I can be aware that I will be the one to drive. I am so stupid. I am here busy overthinking that he is acting like a real boyfriend, not knowing that he is trying to pass me a message.

Christian Tate can't act like a perfect gentleman. The one who will drive the car, instead of telling a lady to do so, especially someone who just became his girlfriend. The last time I checked, he always drives the car whenever he is on an outing with his numerous girlfriends. But, why is mine different? Well, I am not in the higher rank of his girlfriends. I am still at the lowest level.

I am obviously in a beautiful mess. It is better to be his secretary than to be his girlfriend, while there is no difference in his attitudes towards me. The only sweet thing he has done is giving me money for shopping and telling Jeremy not to touch me.

I don't know when a hiss escapes from my mouth.

"What is that?" He asks, referring to the hiss.

"Nothing." I shrug.

The ride to my house is spent in total silence. It is filled with the usual silence, like when I was only his secretary. Now that I am his girlfriend, there should be a nice conversation going on between us.

But, that is not our case. Christian is engrossed with his phone while my attention is focused on driving, apart from the thoughts going on in my head.

After a few minutes of driving, we reach my house. I bade him goodbye and wait till his car is out of my sight, then I walk into my apartment.

"What a long day!" I mutter sadly to myself, remembering all the events that took place today.
