Chapter 39

Elena smiled at the cashier as her goods were given to her. "Thanks." She said, taking it and leaving the grocery store.

The bags were immediately taken by the guards Alex placed for her protection. "Let's hold them for you." One of them said and the other took them.

Elena smiled and nodded.

A call on her phone made her stop and she took it. "Hello, who's this?"

"It's your assistant, ma'am. I'm wondering how long you'll be back with the groceries. You could have just let me do the job."

Elena chuckled, taking slow steps. "I guess. That will be after I slowly get used to getting someone to buy my groceries. I'm already out though, I'm just going to my car."

"Okay."

Elena nodded and hung the call-up. She looked at one of the guards. "The car?"

"Henry is bringing it." The guard informed.

Elena nodded and stood as she waited.

Just as immediately, she instinctively ducked and yelped at the sound of a gunshot hitting the glass doors. "Oh, God." She gasped as the gunshot kept coming.
