Killian couldn't sleep.

It was the morning of the gala which they had used basically two weeks to plan. Well, most of the planning was done by Melissa and her team while he just approved their budgets while asking himself, ‘Will Mother like this?’

Some part of him wanted to please his parents even though he knew that would be like Ice skating on a volcano. A man who had achieved success like his father and a woman with that much ego and OCD could never truly be pleased.

He rushed through his religious morning routine, staying longer in the gym so he could work out the restlessness that wormed its way into his muscles.

He was able to make it to the office before it was 11 am. Only a handful of his workers were around along with Melissa who was in casual clothes for the first time.
