“They still have no idea what the message from the Night King meant,” Misty said, rolling her eyes as she popped another cocktail shrimp into her mouth. “Why are you interested anyway?”

The whole gang was eating at the local diner, pushing several tables together in order to accommodate them all. Maize was doing her best to pay attention, but most of her thoughts were on Ayla. It had been an hour since Sebastion drove off with her and still no word. However, once Ben asked about the Night King, her attention refocused.

Ben shrugged. “He has plans for my sister once she turns eighteen, in a little over two years,” he answered, ignoring the glare Maize sent him. He never could keep his mouth shut when a pretty girl was involved.

“Is that true,” Chris asked before Misty could. “How does he even know who you are? With the whole world to rule and police, you must be something special to garner his attention.”
