“Ayla, why didn’t you say something to someone about this earlier today,” Rosie lectured after discarding the shirt Ayla had taped around her back. It was soaked through with blood.

“Because no one would’ve believed me,” she cried, tears rolling down her cheeks as she gently laid on the bed. Misty took one of her hands while Maize sat on her other side, taking the other. Ayla tried to pull away, tensing up once more, but neither Maize nor Misty let go.

“Shh, it’s alright,” Maize said gently, rubbing soothing circles into the back of Ayla’s hand. “Neither of us are going to hurt you, your safe here.”

Ayla laughed, shaking her head. “If Alpha Lord Grizzle doesn’t kill me, then Elder Lord Roland will. And even if he somehow shows mercy, then Master Nathian will do it instead. Then there’s the Night King, who, who…” she couldn’t say anymore before the sobs started up again.
