Time to Assassinate The President

Me and Madarashi was going home together. I asked him,what he thought about the whole thing. He then smiled and said, “Don’t worry bro. I don’t think the girl’s that bad. I kinda feel sorry for her thinking that I will just be using her to get to the president.”

Sometime passed and their friendship grew stronger. Everyone of the school was surprised because two terror of the school had become friends. Sometime that bond between them frightened me cause Madarashi told me that we have to keep our interactions to the minimum but their bond didn’t seemed like to be broken that easily and I was right. Quite a time passed and I thought that Madarashi has forgotten about the execution of the ‘agent scum’ of Japan. But one day he came and said, “Let’s go the president of Japan has invited us, his doom.”

That day after the end of school we went to the president’s house with Rafa Jennifer. She invited us over to introduce us to the president. We met the president and he was kind of jolly. In the first conversation He said, “Oh! Welcome, you must be Madarashi and Yukioshi. Pleased to meet you. I really want to thank you for being my only daughter’s friend. I heard everything from her. I really felt bad for her. Just because I was a political leader she had to face a lot of trouble socially. So, I can’t thank you enough.”

Madarashi said, “Oh! please, don’t mention it. Besides, man does everything for their own sake.” I got surprised when he said something like that to the president’s face. The president said, “Excuse me!” Madarashi then said, “I mean, I am her friend for my own sake. I didn’t have any friend from the beginning so I wanted a friend. And got one too.” Then the president said, “ If you put it like that then I guess I can’t complain.”

Then we went to the living room and were talking about staffs. Rafa wasn’t nearby at that time. In the living room, on a table there was a chess board. Seeing that Madarashi asked the president whether he loved playing chess and the president said, “Yes, I adore it.” Then Madarashi said, “Would you like to play a match with me then.” The president agreed in an instant.

They started playing. They were both good players. The match was thrilling. But the president was having the upper hand against him. The president said, “Madarashi, I know you have your own strategy but why are you so hooked up on protecting the pawns. I can clearly see that, here, if you let the pawn be eaten then you could have easily caught me. I get the feeling that you are better than me but because you are protecting all your pawns you are losing.” Then in reply Madarashi said, “You see, here, I’m the black pieces and all the black piece is an empire or a nation to me where the pawns are general people, other pieces are the higher ups and minister and ; the queen is;.. the agent of the great nation and the king is the president of that particular great nation. And in this game I have the right to control this nation. And from my point of view they are all equal. Here I feel like I’m the queen or the agent. And from my sense of morality I can’t let the general people die just to protect the great nation I’m under.”

I got really scared because the battle of chess turned into something else. I could see the president was terrified. He was sweating though it was cold. Then Madarashi again said, “Mr. President, I have a question for you. Suppose you are the agent then what would you do? Would you prioritize the general people over the great nation you are under or do you prefer the other option. From the perspective of how you play chess, I think you would sacrifice the general people and also, I can’t see any pawns on your board. And another question; if you won’t mind;… which great nation would you choose as your king to serve?”

I didn’t like where all that was going. The president looked really afraid. He was also taking his hand to the back of his pocket. We could understand that if things get worse he is going to pull out a gun and shoot us. I was afraid about what was going to happen. But just right then Madarashi said, “Oh! Look, Mr. President, you have won!! Maaan!! this sucks. And here I thought I had a chance of winning. They say political leaders are good at chess. I guess that’s not a bluff.”

Madarashi indeed did lose. Also the change of the topic calmed the president too. The president might have won the battle but he has lost the war against Madarashi. I could tell that all that was according to his plan. He knew from the beginning, how things will play out. I also think the whole chess match was also manipulated by him. That genius was something else.

We took our leave. But before that the president told us to come there anytime to play chess with him and that it was fun. Rafa told us to wait a little longer but we took our leave. When we were going I saw a devilish smirk on Madarashi’s face. That could mean only one thing that the devil’s plan has already taken place.

After that he went to the president’s house a lot of time but didn’t take me with him. But one day he told me to come along. So, I went with him. Something was different this time, the guards checked us thoroughly unlike before. Then they were playing chess like the last time. I heard from the president that Madarashi never won a match against him. But he never lost any chess pieces unlike the president.

Sometime passed by, they were still playing. But suddenly something exploded outside. It was like a bomb. But in flash out of nowhere a lot of guards came to protect the president. I didn’t know what was happening but it looked like Madadrashi had nothing to do with that cause he himself took cover and looked afraid. Then in the further investigation they found out that something burst in the garden but it was a harmless explosive. Their play was suspended for the day. But when we got home I could tell from Madarashi’s face that he had found out something really exhilarating.

I didn’t know that time but the day of the president’s execution was drawing near.

One day, Madarashi came to me and said, “The time has come; the time to assassinate the president of Japan.”
