Zariah stared down at me with narrowed eyes roaming over my body skeptically in contemplation. Then she turned, and for a moment I thought she was just going to walk out the door, leaving me alone. Instead, she grabbed a chair and sat it down right in front of me.

“You ask a lot of questions, almost like a precocious child.”
