"The police car drove away ten minutes ago. Five minutes after that, a car drove down to the end of the road, did a U-turn and left again. That's when I decided enough was enough," Lana said and stalked to Carlyle's side, her close-cropped hair barely moving. Used to be, she'd had shoulder-length hair. That was before she and Mikeal had called it quits.

"Did you see what the car looked like?"

"Blue. Not one of those fancy Jeep's, either. An old one. Had a couple of dents on the fender." Her gaze skirted past Mikeal.

Mikeal's eyes gleamed with amusement. "This guy is smart. Values his dollars."

"Never got a good look at the guy. He did get out once. Walked up to Ryan's battered body and looked at him, obviously trying to make sure he was dead," Lana frowned, settling onto the couch.
