Chapter one
BRENDA
It's my wedding day.
Today is supposed to be the happiest day of my life but I found myself zoning out as I stare at my reflection in the mirror, my papa had made a deal with The Vipers, and my marriage to their Capon is made to seal the deal and alliance between both clans.
"Are you sure you are alright?" Vidia my maid asked and I nodded not knowing what else to say.
I'm getting married to a man older than my father and I'm so excited about it.
Yay.
My mom stood at the door staring at me, her cold gaze made me straighten my posture keeping my chin up. After the death of my elder brother my parents tried to shape me into a weapon and I did all they asked only for them to get rid of me at the first opportunity they got.
I have been taught all I need to know to be a good wife and the Vipers aren't like my clan, we still give women a chance to prove themselves here.
But they see women as breeders and nothing else. That old bastard grabbed me the other day saying I would produce fine children for him.
I was suddenly filled with rage, rage that I was about to give my life away for my parents, they had no right in training and preparing me to lead the clan only to ship me off to this old bastard.
"The car is ready Chéri" Mama announced and the girls in the room squealed, I don't even know any of them apart from Vidia. I think Mama paid them to be my bridesmaids.
I don't have friends because I wasn't allowed to keep them, even in college I was avoided until I graduated no one wanted anything to do with the mafia princess.
I stood up and took the bouquet from Vidia. I gave her a tight smile.
I have known her since we were kids and she has always been there for me.
Goodbyes were not really my thing.
"Until next time" I mumbled and she threw her arms around my neck hugging me, Mama huffed in annoyance as I wrapped my arms around her.
Vidia wasn't allowed to attend the wedding because she is a maid, "Don't worry we will see each other again" I assured her, and she let go of me with tears in her beautiful brown eyes.
"Thank you for everything and please take care of yourself" She sniffed and I nodded before walking towards my mother, my heels clacking on the marble tiles.
"Alright, ladies it's time to go," Mama said and the bridesmaids followed as I walked down the hallway towards the exit.
They were complimenting my wedding gown but my heartbeat was the only sound I could hear, the thumping intensified as we got closer to the car taking me to the venue.
"Get in" Mama ordered from behind and I obeyed letting the girls carry the layers of my gown shoving it inside the car.
For the first time since Austin's death, I felt like crying, Mama entered the car through the other side, a silent reminder not to try anything, Papa can be cruel sometimes but Mama is even more vicious than him.
"You should understand that this is for your own good, the Vipers will make a good ally with The Fiends breathing down our neck. We need to find a way to overpower them when the time comes" She stated and I fought with the urge to scoff.
That's just bullshit.
We can't overpower the Fiends, those bastards are just like their names, bikers and mafias, they run this city even if Papa would deny that.
And they killed my elder brother, Austin's dismembered body was sent to us in a duffel bag.
I cried until I passed out that day and I still see that horrible scene in my nightmares, Austin was the best brother and would have made a good leader. But he was soft, he thought he could meet up with the Fiends secretly and negotiate with them but those bastards killed him.
Their leader is Kaden Blackwood, the most heartless person on earth. He is the same age as Austin but he leads the clan with an iron hand, some rumors say he drinks human blood but I know it's just an exaggeration.
Because rumors say I kill with my bare hands too, I had made it my life's purpose to avenge my brother and I killed Kaden's second in command in retaliation, but that isn't enough.
I want them dead, including Kaden. But I have never seen the bastard. Another rumor says whenever he shows up it means there will be a lot of deaths, so he only shows his face if he wants to kill.
The car halted and the driver rushed out to open the door for me, I got out of the car and waited for Mama to stand beside me.
"Remember this is for the best, once you are married to Don Ferdinand, you belong to him and you will do whatever he tells you to do. It is a duty of a wife to please her husband and if he tells you to jump, you ask how high. They value children and I'm sure you can do that too, no contacting your Papa to complain about anything. I know you are strong enough to be able to handle anything" She uttered in a calm tone and I nodded even if my fist clenched.
Ask how high? That's pathetic and coming from her it's pure hypocrisy, She challenges Papa in every way and our clan is one of the clans that treats women as equals because of her.
We entered the building and I was told to wait in a room while she went to call my father. My bridesmaids were busy discussing among themselves they didn't notice when I slipped out of the room.
I took off the stupid veil and threw it on the floor. I wasn't even a backdoor virgin but of course mother thinks she knows best.
Little did she know I already planned my escape, the whole obedience puppy was an act and there is no way I would marry that wrinkled thing.
I took off the heels next and dropped the floating drapes on my wedding gown leaving a fitted bottom and as I stretched I could hear the fabric ripping, I giggled running towards the parking lot.
Vidia had helped me plan the whole thing and that's why I picked this dress. She also made a bike available to take me away. Using a car would be risky.
The ground felt cold on my bare feet but I didn't mind it, thank Goodness that Mama confiscated my phone thinking I might try something.
Too bad she couldn't stop me.
I had three minutes left and I was counting in my head as I got to the parking lot looking around. I panicked as two minutes passed and I still hadn't seen my getaway driver.
I could hear voices and yells coming from the building, "Fuck! Where the hell is he?" I snapped looking around just then a gang of bikers approached all dressed in black leather jackets and black jeans.
Is that my clue?
I heaved a sigh of relief-
"Brenda!!! Get back here!" Mama's voice boomed from behind me and I took off instantly, The bikers had their helmets on and I waved for them to stop.
"Stop! Wait!" I yelled and the one in the center stopped.
"Why the fuck did you take so long?!" I smacked his shoulder and mounted the bike wrapping my arms around his waist, his body was as hard as a rock packed with muscles and I wondered where Vidia got him from.
The others were still approaching the building.
"What are you doing? Get me out of here! Or do I have to remind you about your goddamn job" I barked and it was as if he froze then he started the engine.
"Brenda!!!"
I looked ahead of us and I saw the bikers surrounding my mother, they kept driving in circles around her like vultures preparing to feast.
I furrowed my brows in confusion as I saw th
e look of horror on my mother's face.
Why did she look like she was about to cry as she watched me?
Chapter 190_Kaden’s POVWe finally got to my mansion. I carried Brenda from the car and took her to my room while Kira and Jace followed behind. After I successfully placed Brenda inside the room, I told kira and Jace to have a rest, tomorrow will be their judgement day.I went downstairs and told my men to drive to the warehouse. At the warehouse, my men carried Gabe inside and removed the veil. His eyes opened slowly. His eyes were Dangerous, angry and defiant. He tried to size me up with his expression, but I smirked, amused by the fire still burning in him.“Pour the water on him,” I said.Cold water hit his face. His eyes opened widely involuntarily, coughing violently, spitting and sputtering. Blood mixed with water on his lips. His eyes snapped to mine again, wide with rage. But that amused me even more.“Where’s the immoral pic? The video of Brenda?” I asked. He said nothing. He Just stared at me with his teeth clenched and fury in every line of his face.I said. "I'm not goi
Chapter 189Kaden’s POV_I kept checking the mirror, checking Brenda, and checking the sides. Kira is also asleep onlyJace was awake pressing his phone.“Kaden… something is wrong.”Before I even asked what she meant, I saw the headlights behind us. Bright, Fast andAggressive. It swerved once, then aligned straight behind us.Brenda’s hands flew to her mouth.“It’s Gabe… I know it’s him.”I didn’t doubt her. The way the car was coming didn’t look random. The speed was too good. Hewas chasing us with everything he had.I hit the gas, but we were still far from the others. The road stretched ahead like it wasn’t ending.I called Jace, snapped at him to get ready. We had little time. I told him called Lucas to block theroad. He said they were almost at the meeting point.Brenda kept shaking her head.“He won’t stop, Kaden. He won’t.”“I know,” I said.“Let him come.”His car got closer. I could see movement through the windshield. More than one person. Gabedidn’t come alone. He
CHAPTER 188Gabe’s POV_I couldn’t stop lashing at myself for missing the one chance to sleep with Brenda. The angerwouldn’t leave my chest. I kept replaying everything and asking myself who the hell the guy thatsaved her was. How did he even show up? And how did he manage to get her out?I called my men immediately and ordered them to search everywhere and bring both Brendaand the guy to me. I didn’t care how long it took, they just needed to show results. But they returned empty-handed.Seeing them standing there with nothing made my blood boil.“Are you serious?” I snapped.“Just two people. Two. And you couldn’t get them?” My voice was loud enough to make some ofthem flinch. They had no excuses, nothing to offer me, just useless faces staring back.I cursed under my breath and stormed toward the car. My head was still aching from earlier, andthe pain only made my irritation worse. I slammed the door shut and drove home angrily, stillcursing that guy for hitting me hard enou
CHAPTER 187KADEN’S POV_The street was quiet when we arrived at a place. The people were not chasing us any longer. Ihad no idea where we were but I hope to see a car soon. Darkness had settled over the city, broken only by a single flickering lamppost. Brenda clung to my jacket, half-dressed andtrembling. Her weight pressed against me, weak but alive. Then I later saw Jace and Kira waiting. Relief hit Brenda. She stumbled forward, nearly falling, and I grabbed her by the shoulders to steady her.“It’s okay. You are safe now,” I said. My chest is still burned from the race. The anger inside mehadn’t gone away. Not completely. But seeing her strong made it manageable.Brenda sank into the passenger seat as soon as I opened the door, clutching my jacket asthough it were her only lifeline.“Kaden… I… I’m sorry,” she said, voice breaking.“I should havetold you everything earlier. I didn’t mean for you to find out like this.”I didn’t answer immediately. Part of me wanted to yel
CHAPTER 186KADEN’S POV_The black SUV stopped in front of us. I froze. Brenda pressed herself against me, trembling. Icould hear her shallow breaths.I crouched low behind the dumpster. My heart slammed against my chest, but I forced myself tothink. One wrong move, and we’d both be dead. I tried to make sense of the situation. Therewere at least three men inside. I couldn’t see their faces, just the dark shadows of their headsthrough the tinted windows.“Stay behind me,” I whispered. My voice was calm, but my body was tense. She nodded, gripping my jacket tightly. The SUV doors opened slowly. The first man stepped out. The second followed, keeping hishand near his waist. I counted three in total, all moving toward us.I knew we couldn’t fight all of them at once. I scanned the area. The alley ran to the left. A pile ofcrates could give us cover. A narrow side street was a few meters ahead. I had to move fast, and I had to get her out before they closed the distance.I reached
CHAPTER 185KADEN’S POV_My chest felt tight the whole drive. Every bad thought kept hitting me one by one. I keptimagining Brenda crying. I kept imagining the ex dragging her. I kept imagining her alone. Ihated every second of it.I entered the town and drove straight to the house she had been staying in and pulled over. Thefront door of the place was wide open, and Kira was kneeling on the floor, crying into her palms.Jace was pacing back and forth like a mad person. My heart dropped. That told me everything.I slammed the car door and ran toward them.“What happened?” I demanded.“Where is she?”Kira looked up. Her eyes were swollen and red."So tell me, what have you gathered about the guy.""Nothing" I shouted at them. Don't tell me nothing.“Everything happened too fast,” Kira said.“We tried following the car, but we lost it.”“Tell me everything you saw,” I said.“Everything.
