Fire and Gasoline

Chapter 5

Elena's pov

I sat behind the stool, watching my reflection in the mirror as the maids vehemently jobbles around experimental rilly, each in trial to make me presentable as per requested. They did my makeover with overall expertise that I nibbled my lip upward, trying to convince myself this couldn't possibly be me.

"Done."Whistles of admiration emits from the maids, as they took in my appearance with gleaming eyes. I passed them a sly smile which thereafter, they packed their things and left, leaving the door open to let whoever comes in decide my fate.

It was still intact in my memory. I could still see myself bumped into him and remembered the sudden rage that blasts overpoweringly over his face whilst he took in my state. Then, he'd stomped into the dinning hall only for the maids to scurry up to me with an order from him. According to them, he termed it 'presentable'.

My footing of thoughts clung to a halt when I heard the padding of footsteps. My throat tightened all at once. Though I was never the type to get nervous, I found myself fondling with the hem of my dress with a fidgeting rhythm.

"You know, you could stay behind."His voice alone was enough to send shivers coursing through my veins. And even though he was just midway the room, I couldn't buckle up the courage to heighten up my eyes to look at him. I've never been this way. So, one thing is for sure; I might be fire but he's gasoline.

Perhaps I would still be rooted on the spot if I hadn't heard the chirpy-queaky sound the door had made signalling its closure. I almost made it to the door but I wasn't even halfway when it shut on my face, causing a raspy cuss to radiate from my mouth. He sure has some nerves, huh?

I huffed, opening the door and stalking after him. As I descended the stairs, I battled my lashes in utter confusion at the sight of the maids sprawled across the hallway into a line, each with their heads bowed and only raising it to spare me a glance when they were sure have walked past.

I was sold into their pack as a slave. The sudden respect and humility from whom and those have been tortured through hells for the past two months couldn't possibly be the work of a sudden angel from heaven. So, one thing was sure, they are now aware. They now know of my identity.

But I was more hell-bent and at the same time starstruck, not by his heavenly features this time, but by what was before my very own eyes when I reached him. The pack guards having surrounded him all moved aside, and had one of them open a black Mustang car door upon my presence.

"Hop in, princess."I heard his sweet yet captivating authoritative voice ushering me in as he got behind the wheels. I hesitated at first but the cosy warm feeling at the pit of my nerves caused my repulsive stance to budge, and I thereafter found myself plopping myself on the backseat.

The door shut closed at my entry, and almost immediately, the car screeched out of the parking lot and unto the tarred road. My heart was hammering at a risky speed against my chest as he pressed his foot on the accelerator, sentencing the car into a more faster motion.

"P-lease."A gasp escaped my mouth involuntarily. All walls built in me came cracking down as I struggled to quicken the pace at which my ragged breathings were coming. Now, I was beginning to find a fault in myself. Heck- I shouldn't have followed him.

Even though why he saved me from my slavery world and mysteries hasn't be known, I was still grateful he rescued me. But what if now, he's hell-bent on crashing us?

"Stop the damned car. Now!*I bit out angrily, elbows resting on my thighs as I raked my fingers into my hair and pulled on the scalp of my hair exasperatedly. The air coming out of my lungs fiercely hot as the atmosphere quietened, signalling to me he just stopped the car.

Goddamn it!. I haven't even got to know him yet and he's already turning my world upside down.

"Shit...!"An annoyed huff of breath marbled out through his teeth, as he slammed his fist unto the steering wheel. Though I was earlier self-absorbed, I looked up to see him already staring at me. With an inquisitive gaze, I raised my eyebrow questioningly at him for emphasis.

Uncertainty was clear in his eyes but nervethless, he cocked one of his brow to the side and catching that as a sign, I tilted my head to look at whatever was there he was pointing at and was the cause of his uneasiness. But only for me to hiss through my teeth as I caught the dreadful sight.

For a fleeting moment, I couldn't think. Like what do you do when suddenly a bunch of rogues appears unannounced to attack you? How crazily does a heart run when you know you're in between death and has no other way to escape? And above all, how would you be able to chastise yourself when you're the main reason you were caught in the webs of your attackers?

F*ck. I was the one who forced him into stopping the car which had to lead us into this!... Yes, I got us into this shit-hole.

Before I could make out what happens next, he was out of the car, slamming it shut with a bang. I watched with crossed hearts as he stopped before them intimidatingly. The wolves snickered, sharing a glance between themselves before returning their gazes back to the challenging figure before them.

"Hey there Alpha!."And that caught me unaware. 'Alpha...?' "We dare not double cross you but there's just one puppet you have in your possession that just have to be ours."I tensed on my seat at their unremorseful choice of words. But seeing my rescuer-supposed mate still maintaining his stance, I tried to recollect myself.

"Yes. Just give her up and there would be no need to shed a blood, Alpha Chase."

I frozen. That voice. It was one I grew up with and could by now recognize from any dimension of this planet. My eyes didn't take too long to locate him as he was already moving to the spotlight, a spot before Chase.

"K-illan?!."My voice raised by an octave and the air left the surroundings when his eyes pierced mine. Instantly, all colours drained from his face and as if taunted by my sight which was possibly right, he sent a silvery arrow my way.

My system ran out of oxygen immediately and I could only hear the sickly popping sounds Chase's bones made as they rearranged themselves into his wolf form. A second. Just a second more was between my death, but only for him to get into the way.

"N-No!."A gasp escaped my throat as the arrow pierced his chest. And at that moment, time seizes to tick. My whole body went on fire and just looking at him drop to the floor stirs something deep inside me; something primal and hungry.

No way; no way would he leave me alone to this hell of a life. I had rather spend my life in another dimension of hell with him.
