Chapter 4: ✴DID I JUST EAT A WORM?✴

last update Last Updated: 2023-08-14 08:40:32

My body seemed to float, like a feather being cradled by a mellow breeze and. . . wait. . . float? Feather?

I instantly opened my eyes, but instead of seeing a familiar ceiling, I'm looking at a triangular shaped roof that was new to my sight.

Was this lost in wonderland part two? I haven't remembered falling in a rabbit hole. Well, my mom told me stories and I regret not giving full attention before.

But it was really fascinating. I mean, what's above me was made of brown leaves stitched together with mastery. I got keen eyes and impressing me would be a hard stuff but, where did they get a leaf as big as that? And second, how were they able to do that? Admirable!

Okey, Rohama. You're asking no one. Better get on your feet.

"Geez! What am I doing drifting at the middle of this room?" I was shouting. Consternation filled my being, spawning a vacuous reaction. It was already late when I realized that I might be held as a captive.

The incident flashed in my mind all at once. Gosh! Was I caught? I must be a sacrifice for some monsters.

No wonder why I felt so light, I wasn't touching any solid things. The room was empty, only four pillars and a door was here.

I attempted to stand, but I couldn't control my weight and ended up turning up and down like a wheel of a school bus. I think I'm gonna have an upset stomach. Felt like riding a roller coaster five times straight. My vision was swimming.

Something tiny, sparkling and yellowish were circling around me. Might be particles or dust. I'm having a thought that they may be the reason why I'm elevated.

I tried catching one but it seemed that they have this natural reaction to repel everytime a thing should reach for them.

I focused on balancing instead.

After an hour of struggle, I succeded to stand, but my feet weren't still touching the floor. I breathe deep, scared to move even a little as it may cause a churning scenario again. I might puke.

Now, how must I supposed to escape? I couldn't grab anything. I couldn't even reach the walls. What were those written there anyway? Some code or passwords engraved? I'm pretty positive it's made of brown clay.

As I'm still figuring out what to do, the door swung open. My heart thumped faster, it could even win a race at that rate.

Three creatures showed up, the humanoid aliens! And they sauntered magnificently flaunting their ravishing beauty.

One of them enchanted something, making the particles around me vanish and I instantly fell downward.

"Ouch!" That hurts. He should have atleast warned me. My butt plunked down the compact bottom. I could guess it's made of rocks. Whatever, the point was, can they be more careful? Atleast treat me gently before letting some horrible specimen gobble me.

"Keŕelè àķiaĺ?"

"Àķìeŕnì rèĺaìķ!"

I frowned upon hearing that language again but immediately went pale seeing them approaching.

"Hey? What are you doing?" I asked dithery as two of the three grabbed my hands and prevented me to tussle.

No!

The one with yellow eyes was holding a bowl made of wood. Ugh! Can it just be cereals? Why does it has to be worms? Green ones with a size of a thumb! It was transparent, like jellies except that, it was sliding and squirming.

Trust me, I really tried hard to avoid that slimy thing being shove in my mouth. But what can I do? Three to one? That's not even fair! I felt its soft body move, making its way down to my belly. Am I gonna die then? My mind was producing countless deductions!

Will it grow and eat my internal organs? How much pain would that feel?

"Young miss? Can you understand us now?" I am shock. Very much.

"Was that some sort of translator?"

"My apologies, but what do you mean by translator?" I've come to realize that their comprehension was limited. Might be because we didn't come from the same world or where am I again? A parallel universe? Another world? Another planet?

"Nevermind," I responded.

"Young miss, the name was Pierre," a man with red eyes said.

"Merko," came from man whose grip was still at the bowl. A sickening feeling then again reverted.

"I am Yura," said the one with purple pupils.

"Call me Rohama." I smiled in relief. The three were omitting a very friendly aura. Which means, I'm not in danger right? But still, I shouldn't get too much comfortable. Enemies hid their faces in congeniality.

"Miss, will y---"

"Can you please calm me Rohama instead? That young miss thing was making me cringe," I cut Yura. It sounds too formal for my hearing. In addition to that, they have a very odd accent.

"Granted. Forgive me. Our elder would like to meet you at this moment, kindly follow us if you may."

"Sure," I replied. The four of us headed to the door.

Our distance were actually close, but I couldn't stop my eyes from mooching around making my pace slower and slower. How should I describe where I am now?

A small village? Yes it was. From where I was standing, I could view the whole area. Tiny houses made of the same materials back at the room where I got stuck earlier, dotted around the landscape leaving a wide circular space at the middle.

Children ran to and fro, some ladies carry baskets full of fruits, and men in their spears were marching at the side.

A perfect picture of a peaceful living. The sun glittered, it's bigger than what I usually see. Uh, did it change its rotation habit?

I snorted. Why am I questioning something like that when everything that's happening was a bigger question.

Why am I here at the first place padding in this wide hallway?

Yura mentioned about an elder earlier, maybe he can give me answers.

We happened to walk near the houses and I was able to view the structure closer. Whoa. The outer layer were polished, the windows had a couple of thin twigs placed vertically looking like bars with little flowers growing in it.

It seemed like I got caught with the scenery that I forgot I'm a stranger and my guides already left me behind. Goodness! Need to hurry, I might get lost or perhaps someone may comeby and mistook me for a spy. My uniform does make me look foreign.

I made a run but found myself halted by a flower as big as my head, swaying gracefully with the wind. The color was of a snow, pure and alluring. It seemed to be calling me. The white pollens were scattering like shining dusts playing with the air.

"Rohama!" I was startled by the sudden tap on my shoulders.

Wait, why am I near this plant? I didn't remember walking closer though. Weird.

I faced Yura and asked, "Why?"

"I'm afraid you'd inhale the fragrance of that flower. This plant is used for medical purposes, usually once inhaled by any creature, it will cause them to fell into deep sleep. It takes about a day or more to wake up depending upon the amount taken in."

My mouth automatically released an 'oh'. If by any chance he didn't see me, I had probably dropped down the floor snoring.

That's why, when he straddled again, he had long legs ofcourse maybe six feet in height, I made sure to tail closer at his back. It was such an effort though to disregard everything that we had passed upon. Some views were really enticing but I made sure to fucos entirely on the path we were treading.

I might end up killing myself for being too curious about things.

"We have arrived," Pierre stated. He was looking at some brown double door, rectangular in shape and was tall, like two-times my size.

I moved closer to Merko. "What is inside that huge barrier?"

His visage turned to me, with a smile written on it. I was stunned. They looked perfect when this close. I could clearly see their features in detailed manner. From big, slanted upward eyes, long lashes, pointed nose and thin lips. Gorgeous!

"A chamber for meetings and other important events such us feast and celebration. Inside would be two rooms, the first you shall see will be the public one, open for those who wish to see the elder, for consultation or reconciliation. The second one, was for authorized individual only." His answer snapped me back to my current reality.

"Junoesque," I muttered. It was a subconscious action and it just slipped. My cheeks instantly flared in humiliation, I was afraid of Merko's reaction. I even said that in a dreamy manner. How stupid I am! Goodness!

"Pardon?" Ah, saved! Can't articulate how thankful I am that he didn't hear or might be he didn't understand? It could be the last one observing the thing with translator before.

"Uh, nothing." I smiled after and gazed back at the door.

Pierre waited. Seemed like he was trying to read my first move. I eyed him and when he motioned I started to attack. I striked a couple of times and all he did was defend himself. It was undeniable that he was a great fighter and my chance of winning fall almost to zero. Think, Rohama. Hit the vital parts, the nape, the knees or the stomach. Yes I remembered that. Atleast, Yura's effort to teach me won't fell in vain. I could even hear him lecturing me inside my brain. And so I begun to deliver blows directed to the weakest body part. Despite of such effort, I only managed to get his knees—which didn't hurt him that much."Splendid!" Pierre commented. I could have celebrated for such remark but I am not even an inch closer to my goal—to escape.I was taken aback because of the sudden aggresiveness he displayed. This time, he was the one attacking continously, with the same force which almost knocked me down.Such a great strength! I panicked when I realize what he was trying to do.

Walking in the same pavement had been like a round-the-clock exercise for me. The usual charming tableau gives a peppy vibe to kickstart the day. Well, I'll have to exclude Yamiko. The guy had his brows contracted again, just affecting the atmosphere a bit. The balmy zypher made my disheveled hair flew. I had to fix it while running since Yamiko paced briskly as if we were late for some ceremonial event."Would you like to slow down a bit?" I asked. His physical part might be here with me but his thought was clearly traveling somewhere else. And just what I expected, I didn't get an answer."I was like talking to a being without soul," I murmured. To my surprise he replicated, "What did you say?""Nothing, I was just curious how I was able to produce magic." Half lie. I was really wondering why but it wasn't what I've said earlier."Histories had proven that some Keriekos was engaged into romance with humans. You must have one from your ancestors who had contact with ours. That is t

Covered in sweat, my body dropped abruptly to the grassy site where Yura and I had been practicing my combat skills. It's still a question why I couldn't distinguish the type of weapon I might be affiliated with after days of training. Yura said that atleast a kerieko must master even one but I couldn't.Yura had been gone for a while since he had an important business to attend to. I could tell it by the way he carried his long legs leaving me behind. Catching my breath, I decided to close my eyes, letting the mellowing sensation embrace my whole being. The serenity was disrupted by fleeting steps approaching. When I opened my eyes, Yamiko was benting over. Those red eyes was sending me another familiar thrill coming from my guts. "Seemed like you are taking things seriously," he stated. I forced a smile even though each muscle in my body was aching. "I have to," I replied. Slowly, I lifted my body and sat down instead."What brings you here? I thought you have something t

"I have just been gone for five minutes, Rohama. In that short period of time, this is what I get coming back?"I could see Yamiko's brow arching in exasperation. His eyes wandered around each corner of the room. It made him frown. The area was a mess. Books were spread at the floor like an earquake had happened. I thought of an excuse but couldn't articulate a logical one. "It's just b—ouch!"The cerulean creature pulled my hair with its small fingers. I tried to swat it using my hands but the transparent wings like dragonfly were fast enough to avoid my attacks."Sweet cheesecakes! It has three fingers! Just three! Yet it hurts like my scalp is peeled off my head!"Yamiko stood still at the doorway, probably enjoying my present situation. The little voice from the man-like creature nettled me even more. Yet , I couldn't do anything. It was so tiny, might just be five inches and it's flying. It got eyes, just a black dot, a nose and a mouth."If I'd take hold of you, you abhorren

The long fangs was visible, might reach half a ruler if I were to calculate. It had two up and another two down. It kinda explains the slavering. Would say like a dog eyeing his bone. With that kind of teeth? It was rather difficult to keep your mouthouth shut. He—I'm quite certain that this creature was a male—his physique resembled that of ancient people in my Araling Panlipunan books. His shoulders were broad and hips bigger than someone in his size. He was sitting or more like squatting. It looked like what monkeys do but his butt never touched the ground. His knees were bent and I hate people with really long nails but his? Well, more or less 3 inches long. The hands were stretched to the ground as if he was so tired of carrying them.I am not really comfortable with whatever he was. The red eyes were not the same as Yamiko's because his was entirely red and had a black small orb at the middle acting as his pupil. And to complete his appaling look, his body was covered in hair

The grading system may differ depending upon which school you are in. It helped teacher's identify who among their students were doing excellently and who were doing poorly. Here, there were no such things. Either you pass a test or you lose. I gulped the lump on my throat and squinted my eyes. How could I not identify this plant after so many times of trying? Where was I lacking? It was almost breaking my ego admitting that I had no idea. What is it called again? Shea? Rhea?"This plant is called Añera, " Merko stated. Ah, yes. Now I do recall what its name is. I displayed a smile in exchange for a frown which I really wanted to do right now."And it is used to brew potions that can heal poisoned beings," he added. I repeated those words in my brain. I don't want it to sink away like I never heard of it. Honestly, I had plenty of that moment here. I guess I am having trouble adjusting to this world.Merko placed the plant on the small table infront of me. I heaved a sigh. This rep
