Rosemary’s Pov

Twelve days have passed – two days are left remaining until King Alexander revisits us to get his answer. Each day that passes makes every one in the kingdom more and more hostile and stressed. My father tries to put on a happy face , he tries to act brave and well put together but I know that he is just as fearful as I am…maybe even worse.

Every day , for the past twelve days I have been watching the preparations my father has been making for the most feared king’s return. From my balcony every day , I watch the way the soldiers ensure that the wall is firm and that there are enough wooden spikes on the top of it. I watch as they heave and pull at their giant weapons ; the trebuchet. This machine always left me speechless ; imagine a machine throwing a giant rock into the air towards the enemy.
