As she sat down, Marsai couldn't help but feel out of place amidst all the other students who had arrived before her.

But then something surprising happened— one girl caught Marsai's eye and gave her a warm smile. For some reason, it felt like a beacon of hope for what could be possible in this new environment.

However, there was something nagging at Marsai's thoughts that prevented her from fully enjoying this moment; no matter how well things might start off now, eventually everyone would realize that she didn’t have any wolf to protect or assist them, unlike most members of their pack.

It wasn't just about being different. It was about feeling helpless because Marsai knew only too well why having such companions were essential. Wolves could sense predators long before humans ever do and alert owners immediately they perceive danger approaching via sounds or smell detection abilities beyond human comprehension.
