I couldn’t believe what just happened last night between me and Valerie. After my devastating conversation with her, I returned home and felt as though I just lifted the weight of the world. I thought Tobias being locked up in a chamber became my worst nightmare, but breaking a friendship was even more heart-wrenching. We had been together for so long but we’d never fought like this, not with a shallow reason that included money. She never perceived me as someone who belonged in the lower-class despite our huge status differen
It had been a few days since I was kicked out of Silver Stag for something I didn’t do and for getting framed by someone who seemed to be so attached with Tobias. After all the shits I’d been through, I neither heard from Tobias nor Valerie. For the days I’d spent in the apartment after paying our debt, I took those time to process everything and spent more time with Aunt Odessa. I’d told her about Tobias, leaving all the werewolf-related stuff aside and just lied to her about my relationship with him.
After the nerve-racking interrogation with Officer Winston, and I bet he got all the information he needed, we both went out of the room and headed towards the lobby. As soon as we reached the foyer, I immediately spotted Mr. and Mrs. Celeste standing in front of the registrar. Mr. Celeste was rubbing the back of Mrs. Celeste as she dabbed a tissue in the inner corner of her eyes. Her cheeks were florid, and the side of her face was saturated with tears. It was the first time I encountered Mrs. Celeste in such a vulnerable state that my h
I froze to where I stood, too afraid that if I moved, someone would pounce on me. My heart stopped beating and my mind completely went blank as soon as Giofré sensed my presence. I was such a fool to not realize that he would feel another creature roaming around in their place. I should’ve been more cautious because right now, escaping this forest without getting hurt was near to impossible. “He said come out,” a woman said, enough to make me jerk. Gulping, I slowly turned around as the dried leaves crunched under my shoes. When all attention was drawn to me and their piercing gaze looked as if they were ready to devour me, my knees wobbled and I felt lightheaded. “A human,” a guy who was speaking with Giofré a while ago said. “Why are you invading our space?”
I woke up the next day and got a message from Giofré, asking for the address of my apartment building so he could pick me up. Despite my reluctance, I gave it to him for I thought this had something to do with our search for Valerie. I knew that if we worked together, we could easily find her so I put all my faith in us. As I glanced at the clock on my bedside table and noticed the time, I slipped my feet inside my boots and grabbed my coat on the rack. I glimpsed at myself for the last time in the mirror, took some deep breaths, before tugging my lips to a half-smile, whispering to myself that everything would be okay and we would find Valerie. “Just hold on, Val. We’ll do anything we can to find you,” I whispered to myself and went out of my room to head down. As soon as I reached the bottom of the stairs, Aunt
“Portia’s right. We’re running out of time, that's why we need to find her right now,” Giofré said while he clenched his jaws. He snatched the paper out of my hands, crumpled it, and tossed it on the ground before he turned his back on us. “The beta who gave this to me. Maybe he knows where Valerie is,” Lucas concluded as I nodded. “Of course, he does. He’s probably the one who wrote that letter.” I pointed at the crumpled paper on the ground. “But why would your pack’s beta, possibly, kidnap Valerie? As far as I’m aware you all have welcomed her into your pack. At least that’s what I thought.” Then I looked at Lucas who just avoided my gaze. When no one replied, Giofré cleared his throat and moved closer to him.

I stretched my upper body and squinted my eyes before I reached for my phone seated on the table at the side of my bed. I furrowed my brows from seeing Giofre’s caller I.D. flashed on the screen. It’s like seven o’clock in the morning?

I took my phone out of my pocket and dialled the cab driver from earlier so I could have a ride home. &nbs
The blazing fury in the eyes of these werewolves made me freeze as I stood, hands quivered in fright, and beads of sweat started to trickle down my temples. They surrounded us, flashing their sharp fangs and augmenting claws that were ready to cut our throats. I tried to stay as close to the agent's Sir Shelton brought me, but when someone grasped my arm tight, pulling me away from the rest of them, I flinched. I tried to free myself from the grip but he was too strong that he easily dragged me out of the area. Those agents were left standing alone in the middle of the forest, surrounded by these werewolves in the pack that was ready to pounce and devour them.
