The scream echoed through Ravenfall.

Aurora froze.

Every instinct inside her told her to run.

But there was nowhere to go.

The massive gates had slammed shut behind them, sealing them inside the vampire kingdom.

Lucien stood perfectly still.

His crimson eyes scanned the dark castle.

“Stay close to me.”

Kael stepped beside Aurora.

“Or me.”

Lucien glanced at him.

“This isn’t the time.”

Kael’s jaw tightened.

“For once, I agree.”

Aurora looked between them.

“Can you two save the arguing for after we figure out who’s screaming?”

Neither answered.

They moved forward.

The castle courtyard was enormous, surrounded by black stone towers and statues of ancient vampire kings. Yet there wasn’t a single guard in sight.

No servants.

No nobles.

No movement.

Only silence.

Aurora shivered.

“Where is everyone?”

Lucien’s expression was grim.

“Ravenfall should never be this quiet.”

They reached the entrance.

The massive doors opened by themselves.

Aurora immediately grabbed Lucien’s arm.

“Was that supposed to happen?”

“No.”

Kael’s eyes narrowed.

“Definitely not.”

Inside, the grand hall was dimly lit.

Dozens of candles burned along the walls.

At the far end stood the vampire throne.

Empty.

Lucien stopped.

His face changed.

“What?”

Aurora followed his gaze.

Blood covered the throne.

Fresh blood.

Kael moved closer.

“Is that—”

“Vampire blood,” Lucien said.

Aurora’s stomach twisted.

“Whose?”

Lucien didn’t answer.

Instead, he walked toward the throne.

He touched the blood with two fingers.

His expression darkened.

“My council.”

Kael looked around.

“How many?”

“Twenty-three.”

Aurora stared at him.

“Twenty-three vampires?”

Lucien nodded.

“Every member of my ruling council.”

Aurora’s heart sank.

“Then whoever did this…”

“Was powerful enough to enter my castle, kill my council, and leave without being detected.”

A voice came from the shadows.

“Not quite.”

Everyone turned.

A young vampire stepped into the candlelight.

He was dressed in dark armor, his face pale and his eyes nearly black.

Lucien’s expression hardened.

“Damien.”

The vampire bowed.

“My king.”

“Where were you?”

Damien looked toward the blood-covered throne.

“Trying to survive.”

Kael stepped forward.

“Explain.”

Damien’s eyes moved to him.

“The attack happened less than an hour ago.”

Aurora frowned.

“Who attacked?”

Damien hesitated.

“Vampires.”

Lucien’s eyes narrowed.

“Whose vampires?”

Damien looked directly at Aurora.

“Yours.”

Aurora’s heart stopped.

“What?”

Damien pointed toward her.

“The moment your bond awakened, every vampire in Ravenfall felt it.”

He swallowed.

“Some believe you’re the key to restoring the old vampire empire.”

“And others?”

“They believe you’re a threat.”

Lucien’s expression became dangerously calm.

“Who started the attack?”

Damien lowered his voice.

“Your brother.”

Silence.

Aurora looked at Lucien.

“You have a brother?”

Lucien’s jaw tightened.

“I did.”

Kael’s eyes narrowed.

“Did?”

Lucien stared at the empty throne.

“His name was Adrian.”

Aurora sensed something in Lucien’s voice.

Pain.

Real pain.

“What happened to him?”

“He died six hundred years ago.”

Damien shook his head.

“No.”

Everyone turned toward him.

Damien’s voice trembled.

“He’s alive.”

Lucien’s face went completely still.

“That’s impossible.”

“He returned tonight.”

A cold silence filled the hall.

Aurora felt the Moonstone beneath her clothes begin to heat.

Damien noticed.

His eyes widened.

“That’s why he came.”

Aurora whispered,

“Why?”

Damien looked terrified.

“Because Adrian isn’t the one controlling the vampires.”

He looked toward the dark staircase.

“Something else is.”

A low growl echoed from above.

Kael’s body tensed.

Lucien drew his sword.

Aurora lifted the Blade of Selene.

The candles suddenly went out.

One by one.

Darkness swallowed the hall.

Then a man’s voice drifted down the staircase.

“Brother…”

Lucien froze.

The voice continued.

“I’ve been waiting six hundred years to come home.”

Two crimson eyes appeared in the darkness.

Aurora felt the bond between herself, Lucien, and Kael flare violently.

And then the stranger stepped into the moonlight.

He looked almost exactly like Lucien.

Except his eyes were darker.

His smile was colder.

And behind him stood an army of vampires.

Adrian smiled.

“Welcome home, brother.”

  • Bound By Two Moons   The Mark Of The Moon

Aurora woke to the sound of her own heartbeat. Thump. Thump. Thump. It echoed through the darkness of the sanctuary as though the ancient walls had become a second chest around her. She opened her eyes. The first thing she noticed was the moonlight. It poured through the cracks in the stone ceiling, silver and impossibly bright, illuminating the chamber in a strange, almost sacred glow. The second thing she noticed was the pain. Her hand burned. Aurora lifted it slowly. A silver crescent-shaped mark had appeared on the center of her palm. She stared at it. “What is that?” “It wasn’t there before.” Lucien. His voice came from behind her. Aurora turned. The vampire king stood several feet away, his dark coat torn from the battle outside. There was dried blood along his jaw, but his eyes were fixed entirely on her hand. Kael stood beside him. Unlike Lucien, the werewolf king looked furious. Not at Aurora. At the mark. “What did the Moon Goddess do to her?” Kael dema

The battlefield went silent.Aurora stood beneath the blood-red moon, the Blade of Selene glowing in her hand. For the first time, the vampires and wolves were no longer fighting each other. They were standing together.Morgana stared at them from across the battlefield. Her expression had changed. The confidence was gone.“You think bringing them together makes you powerful?” she asked.Aurora lifted her chin.“No.”She glanced at Lucien. Then Kael. Then Adrian.“It makes us stronger.”Morgana’s eyes flashed violet.“You still don’t understand.”She raised both hands. The ground beneath Ravenfall split open.Dark smoke poured from the cracks. One by one, shadow creatures climbed out of the earth. They had no faces. No eyes.Only long claws and glowing violet mouths. The vampires backed away.Even the wolves hesitated.Kael growled.“What are those?”Adrian’s expression became grim.“Nightborn.”Lucien looked at him.“I thought they were extinct.”“They were.”Adrian stared at Morgana

  • Bound By Two Moons   The Battle Of Ravenfall

Ravenfall erupted into chaos. The castle gates exploded inward as wolves charged through the courtyard.Vampires poured from the towers, their crimson eyes glowing beneath the blood-red moon. And behind them came the Royal Hunters, armed with silver blades and enchanted arrows.Aurora stood at the center of it all.For one terrifying moment, she couldn’t move. There were too many.Too much noise.Too much blood. Then Kael grabbed her hand.“Stay with me.”Lucien appeared on her other side.“And stay between us.”Aurora looked at them.“I’m not hiding.”Kael gave her a small smile.“I know.”Lucien drew his sword.“Then fight beside us.”A howl shook the battlefield.Kael transformed. His enormous black wolf form charged into the crowd, knocking hunters aside as he tore through the battlefield.Lucien moved like a shadow. One moment he stood beside Aurora. The next, he was surrounded by enemies.Silver weapons struck at him, but he moved too quickly for them to land.Aurora raised the

Aurora couldn’t breathe.Adrian’s words echoed through the throne room.“One bond to the vampire.”“One to the wolf.”“And one to me.”She stared at him, unable to understand what she had just heard.“No.”The word came out as a whisper.Adrian’s expression remained calm.“Yes.”Kael stepped forward, his golden eyes burning.“You’re lying.”Adrian laughed.“Am I?”He raised his hand. The black crescent on his palm began to glow.Aurora’s own mark responded immediately.Pain shot through her chest. She cried out.Kael caught her before she fell.“Aurora!”Lucien moved toward them.“Let me see.”Aurora pushed him away.“Don’t.”Lucien stopped. She looked at him, hurt filling her eyes.“How many secrets have you been keeping from me?”Lucien didn’t answer. That silence hurt more than anything.Adrian watched them with amusement.“You see?”He stepped closer.“They’ve both known more than they’ve told you.”Kael’s expression hardened.“I didn’t know about you.”Adrian smiled.“Perhaps not

Lucien didn’t move. For six hundred years, he had believed his brother was dead.He had watched Adrian’s coffin burn beneath the ancient vampire rites. He had mourned him. He had carried the guilt of his brother’s death for centuries. And now…Adrian stood before him.Alive.“Adrian,” Lucien whispered. His brother smiled.“I wondered if you would remember me.”Kael stepped in front of Aurora.“Stay behind us.”Adrian laughed softly.“The great Alpha King.”His eyes moved over Kael.“Still protecting what doesn’t belong to you.”Kael’s golden eyes flashed.“Careful.”Adrian’s smile disappeared.“You have no idea what you’ve stepped into.”Aurora stepped forward.“Why did you attack the council?”Adrian looked at her.For the first time, his expression changed.Curiosity.“So you’re Aurora.”She tightened her grip on the Blade of Selene.“You know my name.”“I know much more than your name.”Adrian descended the stairs slowly.“You are the reason I’ve returned.”Aurora frowned.“Why?”“
