DAZE

What did she even mean by that?

That she brought me back? Oh please. She was the last person on earth or in the pack who could ever do that. Queen Felda never cared for anyone but herself, not even for me.

She wasn’t telling the truth. It was just another one of her tricks, trying to drag me back into her messy web. Too obsessed to see that if the king ever found out, it would be the death of me.

Sometimes I wondered if she ever really loved me… or if everything was just lust. I’d made myself clear to her, so clear that there could never be anything between us again. Whatever she thought, that was her problem.

“Daze! Daze!”

A voice hit me from behind, cutting through the noise in my head. I stopped and turned. Arianna was running toward me, breathless, like she had been chasing me for a while. Guess I was so lost in thought I didn’t even hear her coming.

The moment she reached me, she threw her arms around me. I froze. For a second, I just stood there, stiff as a board. She pull

FELDA“Yes,” I stepped closer to her, my voice calm but my eyes sharp. “I did.”Elsa’s lips parted slightly. She looked confused, even a little scared. “Now, tell me, Elsa,” I said quietly, “that everything I’ve heard isn’t true.”Her fingers fidgeted with the hem of her dress. “If you’ll be specific, Your Grace,” she said softly, “then I’ll do my best to explain.”“One,” I said, lowering my tone. “Daze said you and your sister brought him back. Is that true?”To my disgust, a small smile curved her lips, and her cheeks flushed pink. What rubbish was that?“Did I say something funny?” I asked, my voice was like cold steel. She shook her head quickly. “No, no. It’s just that… I’m happy we could save him. I thought I’d lost my mate forever.”I froze. Your mate, seriously? She didn’t even notice the look on my face. “We both know my sister couldn’t do it alone,” she went on, her tone bright, almost proud. “But with the help of our mother, we saved him. And now he’s back.” Her smile widen

FELDAI couldn’t stay still. My chamber felt smaller with every breath I took. The walls, the air, even the moonlight pressing through the window, all of it made me restless. My hands kept going to my hair, pushing it back again and again. The strands were starting to tangle from how hard I pulled.Rowan kissing Isolde wasn’t even my real problem. My real problem was Daze. All my efforts to reach him, to talk to him, had been useless. He ignored my letters, my messengers, my magic signals. Everything. At first, I thought he was joking when he said Isolde healed him. But he meant it. He actually meant it.How was that even possible? Everyone in the realm knew she couldn’t. No matter how powerful she might be, no one could heal what the gods themselves had marked.“Your Grace,” my maid said softly, “please sit down… she will arrive soon.”I turned to her with a glare that could melt her soul. She froze, her mouth snapping shut instantly.Did I ask for her opinion?I continued pacing, my

FINNIAN Rowan had been acting like a saint lately... sweet, gentle, all smiles toward Isolde. It made my skin crawl. Was he trying to win her back? Was this his new game?Would she even take him back after everything?I groaned and dragged a hand through my hair. What kind of question was that? Of course, she wouldn’t. She couldn’t. Not after everything he’d done to her. Not after the way he broke her.But then again… she still looked at him like he was the moon itself.I clenched my jaw until my teeth ached.‘What about our mate?’ Marlin’s voice echoed inside my head, soft but firm.‘I don’t care about that ghost,’ I growled back. ‘What kind of mate hides away when I move closer to her? What kind of bond is that?’My chest tightened, and I clawed at it as if I could rip the ache out. I slammed my chamber door open. The echo bounced down the empty corridor. Jared and Daze weren’t there. Probably still mourning Marie.Good. I didn’t need anyone near me right now.‘You shouldn’t forget

ISOLDEFinnian stepped forward first, bowing slightly. “Your Highness,” he greeted, his tone was formal and low.Velin didn’t even look at us. She stood beside Rowan’s bed, adjusting his robe like she was born to touch him.“I came to report something,” Finnian said, ignoring her. “Something urgent.”Rowan shifted lazily on the bed, his eyes half-lidded, as if he was just pulled out of sleep. “Yes, yes… go on then.”Finnian’s voice deepened. “One of the maids I brought… is dead.”The room fell silent.Rowan’s expression didn’t change, not even a blink. No shock. No pity. Just cold stillness.I stared at him, waiting, hoping maybe I was the one missing something. But no. Nothing. Not even the slightest crack in his emotionless face. Was he really this heartless?Finnian exhaled sharply, his jaw tightening. “Her death isn’t natural.”Rowan finally sat upright. “What do you mean by that?” His voice was calm, but the edge in it made the air feel thick. “If it isn’t natural, what killed he

ISOLDE“Yes, yes, talk to me, Marie,” I urged softly, my voice trembling as I knelt beside her. Her skin was pale, her breath was shallow, and her lips were trembling like she was fighting to speak. We had given her every herb, every medicine… but nothing was working. Her condition didn’t require spiritual help; this wasn’t a curse, but rather something hidden.Because I couldn't understand what happened to her. She tried to speak again, her voice thin and broken.“I-I saw s-something, Y-your h-higness,” she whispered, her eyes darting weakly toward me.I wiped the tears from my face and nodded quickly. “Yes, what is it, Marie? Tell me. Is it what made you like this?”She swallowed hard, her throat moving painfully. Then she nodded.“What?! What could that be?” I asked, my heart pounding. She struggled again, her lips trembling, words fighting to come out. I slid my hand behind her head, lifting it gently onto my lap. Eve moved closer to help me.Marie’s fingers trembled as she clutch

DAZEThe two royal guards standing by the Queen’s chamber door looked too serious for my liking. Their faces were carved like stone, their posture stiff. I wondered when King Rowan suddenly started caring so much about Queen Isolde again. He barely looked at her during council meetings, and now he had guards stationed like she carried his crown on her head.It didn’t make sense. The queen didn’t deserve how he treated her, cold, distant, like she was invisible. If I were her, I would have left him long ago. But something was holding her here… maybe duty, or maybe something deeper. It wasn’t like she was pregnant with his child or anything, so why stay?“Your Highness! Warrior Daze is here,” one of the guards announced.I heard her calm voice from inside, “Let him in.”But before I could even move, another voice spoke, fast and breathless, “Wait! Wait! Please!”I froze. I’d know that voice anywhere. My mate. Elsa. She sounded so excited that it made my lips twitch in amusement.I wait
