Come Monday morning the next week, I was ready to start initiating my plans, but first I needed to get through Jeremy. He was the only stumbling block that was holding me back from knocking some blocks from Alex’s high tower.

Jeremy was still my partner and friend, and even though we were currently going through a rough patch and we weren’t exactly on talking terms, I still needed him to be on board, and I knew just how to do it.

The first thing I did was drive to the same jewelry shop where I had gotten a gift for Charles. Jeremy had always been crazy about one Audemars Piguet wristwatch, and it should be the perfect icebreaker.

I had checked the amount online prior to my arrival, and Lord, the gasp I let out. I had broken into a loud cough, almost coughing my lungs out. But I had to do it; if I wanted our friendship to continue, I should be ready to go the extra length.
