Shame
Seraphina’s POV
My body was on fire!
It hurt everywhere and I was still fucking bleeding. I was thankful that Lycan Fabian didn’t want me riding with him because, what would I have done with all this blood? My head spun and even staying awake was becoming a chore.
The was long, exhausting in that way. I don’t know for how long we drove but then, the cars suddenly came to a halt and Lycan Fabian approached our car. He barely glanced at me as he spoke directly to the driver.
“There’s a river here. I want all of the things her parents gave her thrown in there.”
What? My heart stopped and I turned to look at him in horror.
I rushed out of the car, my legs carrying me towards the said river in a flash. I didn’t care about the trunks of course, all if the things in there weren’t mine and I never had the intention of wearing them.
But then, that was the small problem. He clothes and jewelries my step-mother had packed for me all belonged to her daughter. She had given me those things not because she like me, but to further cement the belief that I was her precious daughter. Kristen was going to kill me –
A rough hand grabbed me, spinning me around.
“Did you think I would really have let you keep all your glittering jewels and expensive clothes?” he snapped. “Well, let me shock you. Life in my pack house will be nothing like the pampered and spoilt life you enjoyed while in your parents’ castle.”
My heart raced and I turned to see the last of the trunks sinking down the river. He smirked at me, dropping my arm down.
“Get back to the car or you will have to walk all the way there.”
Swallowing, I forced my gaze to look away from the river and returned to the car as he ordered. The seat where I sat was now filled with my blood and I was still oozing more.
I took a deep breath in to calm my nerves and my aching head but it was no use. I was suddenly even more exhausted than before that even breathing was too painful for me.
I leaned on the car, too tired to move a muscle. Behind me, I clearly heard the driver
takking into my ears but I couldn’t make out the words through the hammering in my head. Then he shouted something and the pain intensified.
My body trembled and I suddenly felt myself falling. maybe I was finally dying? Was I finally going to rest? Hands caught me before I hit the ground and everything went black.
I groaned awake, my eyes moving behind my lids as I tried very hard to pry it open. My tongue was too hefty in my mouth and there was something warm and damp on my head. After striving for a long time, I managed to pry my eyes open, closing them again as light almost blinded me.
Blinking away the harsh glare of the light, I stirred awake to discover that I was in a room.
A window in the corner of the room filtered in the sunlight from outside and beside the small bed I was laying in was a drawer ad cabinet.
I glanced around the room, trying to recall the last thing that happened before I fell asleep? Did I sleep off on our ride here? Did Lycan Fabian carry me all the way to this place? Oh goddess, did I faint?
I looked down at my fully clothed body. How much did he see? My scars…
My father was going to kill me if he knew I fainted and allowed Lycan Fabian see the scars. Then there was the tattoo on my shoulder. Did he see that as well? Could he tell what it meant?I pushed up from the bed with a groan, at the very moment the door opened and a woman walked inside."I see you're awake," she said, her expression changing to a subtle smile.
She walked further into the room, setting the tray in her hand on the dresser.
“Where am I?” I queried, taking in the woman and how beautiful she looked. She was way older than me of course, but her beautiful black curls gave her round face a youthful look which made her appear younger than she was.
“Rest,” she said flatly. “You lost a lot of blood.”
I shook my head. “I need to find Lycan Fabian. I don’t know what he’ll do if –”
“Fabian brought you here himself.” She said, cutting me off. I narrowed my eyes at her, surprised at how she addressed him without his title. Who was she to him?
“Now, rest. Your body is still healing.” She turned away from me, fixing herself in front of the cabinet as she began pulling out various bottles. “You were bleeding when he brought you here and some of your injuries were infected.”
“I –” I began but closed my mouth. What would she think if I told her to keep my injuries a secret from Lycan Fabian? Did she already tell him?
“You’ve been here for a week,” she continued. “But it is not enough to repair all the damage that has been done to your body. It looks like most of your injuries were decade old and all of them were not even fully healed.”
What? I gasped, my mind settling on the part where she said I had been here for a week!
“A week? I’ve been here for a week?”
Oh goddess! I was in so much trouble. I rose fluidly from the bed, staggering when my vision spun and my head felt like it was going to fall off.
“I need to go!” I announced.
“Get back on the bed!” she snapped, her demeanor changing instantly. “Your body is too weak right now and you need to heal.” She eyed me. “You have no wolf.”
She didn’t say it like it was an accusation but it felt that way to me. After all, it was all I heard in my father’s pack where everybody shunned and ostracized me for having no wolf.
Her expression softened as she looked at me. “If you are worried about Fabian, don’t be. He and his beta have been coming to check up on you everyday for the past one week and I told him I will keep you here with me till you are fully healed.”
Goddess, did he know I was an invalid too now? Just a little mishap from me and he found out everything! What was I going to do? what was he going to do to me? I not only lied to him, I deceived him as well.
Stinging tears filled my eyes as I searched for a way to extract myself from this predicament. She moved a chair to face me and sat, her stare directed at my face. “You are not the real daughter of Alpha Haynes, are you?”
My heart skipped a beat. What did she know?
“I – of course, I am.” I defended. “My father is Alpha Haynes. Lycan Fabian’s number one enemy and that is why I’m here.” Well, technically, I wasn’t lying. My father was really Alpha Haynes and I was his daughter.
The only problem was that I wasn’t the daughter Lycan Fabian thought I was,
“Don’t lie to me girl.” The woman snapped, her gaze darkening. “Even if you are Alpha Haynes daughter, you are not the daughter Fabian wanted.”
My heart began running a marathon in my chest. Who was this woman and why was she asking me all of these questions? Did Lycan Fabian tell her anything?
“Lycan Fabian told me nothing.” She answered my thoughts and I flinched, pushing myself away from her. “I am a telepathic. Lost Lycans are born with abilities and mine is to read minds. Lycan Fabian has more than two abilities and he uses them very well.”
My eyes widened. I couldn’t tell if she was saying the truth or intentionally messing with me. if Lycan Fabian had an ability like hers, that means he already knew all that was going on in my family. Did he choose to pretend he knew nothing?
Seraphina's POV My heart raced as I thought about all of the things Lycan Fabian could already know. The fact that I was a spy was one of them. Was he going to kill me? if he already knew, why did he still keep me close despite what I might reveal to my father?“Fabian doesn’t know anything,” she affirmed, leaning forward in her seat. “For now.”I instantly I went on my knees despite the pain in between my thighs. “Please, don’t tell him,” I pleaded. “He will kill me… and my family. Please, I’ll do whatever you want.”She drew me up to my feet then softly moved me to sit on the bed. “Did I not tell you not to get up?” she sighed. “You are still healing and moving around too much might do more harm to you.”I sniffed. “I – my family… they are relying on you. I have to do what I have to do. for them.“Why do you still watch about them after all they did to you?She looked at me like I was stupid. “You don’t have to do anything for them!” she snapped. “The moment you envisaged that, th
Fabian’s POVAs soon as the door closed behind me, I heaved a sigh of relief . I didn't know why I was tense but I was. Perhaps, it was because I had seen her safe and alive. The past two days – although I would never admit it – had been disturbing for me.I never cared about anyone the way I cared about her brat and it infuriated me. I didn't care about her. I couldn't care about the daughter of my enemy, let alone one who was as spoilt as she was.But the way my heart drew in my chest when I saw her big, green eyes. she was such a puppy who just needed love and attention.I shook my head, banishing the thoughts away. She was like a cankerworm devouring me slowly bit by bit. if I weren't so careful, I knew that I'd be falling and she was the last person that I wanted to fall with. Seraphina 's POV,“You slut!” My step-mother screeched. In a trice, a smack grounded on my face and I dropped on the ground. Involuntary, my fist banged to my face, trying to stop the numbing sting that was circulating in my cheek.“Swine!” she fizzled at me. “Do you think you can get off with this?”My physique shivered with unshed tears, but I still held to heft myself up the ground, staying on my knees. When I glanced up, the venom in her eyes made me recoil. Alost immediately, saliva landed on my face. She spat on me!And I didn’t dare wipe it off.“You’re a disgrace to this family!” she sneered. “I always say it and I will say it again, your birth was a mistake. You should have died along with your mother instead of staying here and wasting space.”Tears flowed down my gall at her remarks. It was true that she constantly affirmed it, but no matter how many times I heard it, I would never get used to it.“What do you think ?” she shouted“T-Thank you.” I stuttered.“You can’t even
Seraphina's POV The front bodice of my dress dropped but I pulled it back up immediately, struggling to cover up the last shred of my dignity. Excited murmurs rang around me and I could smell the lust of the men as they drank me in.“I want her stripped naked!” Kristen yelled. “Strip her naked. It’s what the rule book says. Traitors are to be showed no mercy!”I shivered but it wasn’t from the cold. Was she really going to have me stripped naked in front of half the pack? Surely, she didn’t hate me that much?A small voice inside told me that was exactly how much she hated me.When no one moved to strip me naked, Kristen grumbled and marched forward. She slapped me first then began tearing the clothes off me until I was left in nothing but my undergarments. When her hand reached up to tear those as well, I stopped her. Please,” I screamed tears flowing down my gall. “Please, don’t do this.”“Let go!” she screeched, dragging away the small fabric that I still fiercely held to my chest
Seraphina's POV I had never been called to my father’s presence before. Not even once in the eighteen years I have lived. So, you could imagine my shock when Vivian woke me up only to tell me my father sent for me.As I walked down the hallway with two guards at my side to my father’s office which I had never once entered, my heartbeat raced.I have been in the pack house countless times. Although I didn’t live here like the rest of my family, it was my duty to clean and maintain the place. This was the first time I was coming here for something else.Did I do something wrong? Was this still about Kristen’s hair and my punishment? Did they finally convince my father to get rid of me? A lot of thoughts ran through my mind and when I the doors to his office finally opened, I was a mess.My father, restlessly moving up and down the room when I barged in without a heads-up, ceased pacing and turned my way. For the first time in my life, I locked eyes with my father , both of us trying to

I wanted to laugh. I didn’t give a fuck about the law but I was going to keep it down for now. While your life may no longer be in my hands, Lycan Fabian will not hesitate to kill you the moment he’s done with us. But I will make sure your sacrifice s paid, if we do make it out of this alive.”My father’s words neither reassured nor made me feel anything other than disgust at the man I once respected. I nodded, only for the sake of it and my father took a deep breath in, satisfied with himself.“The scars on your back,” he glowered. “Did he see them? I hope he did not because if you let him see them, then you have ruined us all.”I swallowed. Had he seen my back? I tried to recall the look on his face as he took me but I had kept my eyes closed most of the time. He mustn’t have, I concluded. If he had, then he wouldn’t have been so confident that I was Alpha Haynes’ precious daughter.“I asked you a question, you invalid!” my father thundered. “Did he see the marks on your damn back?”I
:Seraphina’s POVFabian’s glare still seared into my skin, even after he stormed away. I could still hear the rustle of Jarpy’s wings overhead, the lingering hiss of magic binding me to a fate I never chose. The chamber emptied, but the silence yelled betrayal louder than any words. My skin burned where the forbidden sigil had been carved, the pain sharp and searing—yet it paled in comparison to the fire storming within my chest. An asset? A bargaining chip? Lycan Fabian? My father had finally gone mad. Jarpy! That cursed demon-bird now tethered to me like a ghost of fate, our mystical bond forged not from choice but by a man who saw fit to curse me into living for his dead son’s benefit. The hard-eyed old woman who’d etched the sigil into my skin vanished without a word, as though she hadn't just carved betrayal into my flesh.“Do not forget your purpose,” my father growled, shoving me toward the hall. “You are not his mate. You are our weapon.”A weapon. That was all I had ever bee

If that was what he was doing, then he needed to play the loving father act better. That was not how a man reacted when he was told that his daughter’s v-card was just taken away. But then, I reminded myself that he hadn’t done anything when the same man took his son’s life before his very eyes.“She did protest a little,” he continued. “You should teach her better.”With a frown on his face, he slipped away from the room.
