Seraphina's POV
My heart raced as I thought about all of the things Lycan Fabian could already know. The fact that I was a spy was one of them. Was he going to kill me? if he already knew, why did he still keep me close despite what I might reveal to my father?
“Fabian doesn’t know anything,” she affirmed, leaning forward in her seat. “For now.”
I instantly I went on my knees despite the pain in between my thighs. “Please, don’t tell him,” I pleaded. “He will kill me… and my family. Please, I’ll do whatever you want.”
She drew me up to my feet then softly moved me to sit on the bed. “Did I not tell you not to get up?” she sighed. “You are still healing and moving around too much might do more harm to you.”
I sniffed. “I – my family… they are relying on you. I have to do what I have to do. for them.
“Why do you still watch about them after all they did to you?
She looked at me like I was stupid. “You don’t have to do anything for them!” she snapped. “The moment you envisaged
that, the better for you.”
She seized a deep breath in, taking a step back as if being in the same proximity as me was pushing her to do commodity she did not want to do.
“Why do you still watch about them after all they did to you? Indeed now, you know they will discard you as soon as they're done using you but you did not suppose doubly about helping them. Are you indeed allowing about yourself?”
It still astounded me that she knew a lot about me indeed though I told her nothing.
“They’re my family, ” I answered, lowering my head t the ground. “ I can’t just abandon them at a time like this when they need me the most. They've no way really demanded me, and now that they do, it makes me feel special. ”
She sighed, irritated. “Seraphina… I don’t see you as stupid, so don’t act like it. I may not tell Lycan Fabian about who you are but don’t think I won’t rat you out if I suspect you are going to be a threat to him.”
My eyes widened at her words. How foolish I was to think that she was on my side just because she was nice to me. I clamped my mouth shut and nodded my head.
Sighing warily, she leaned forward and tucked one of my curls to the back of my ears. “You truly know nothing about yourself, silly girl. I’ll advise that you stop thinking about others and focus more on growing yourself.”
I swallowed. “Will you tell Lycan Fabian about me?”
She looked at me for a long time before answering. “I won’t. you have my word. But I do think you shouldn’t be the one here. That miserable child you are trying to protect should have been here instead, not an innocent girl like you.”
I swallowed as I thought about Kristen. If she was to live half a day in the life that I’ve had to walk for years, was she going to survive it? I highly doubted that. Which was why the responsibility fell to me as her elder sister to protect her.
Even if she had no idea and even if she didn’t want it.
“She wouldn’t do the same for you.” The woman said, her eyes filled with pity as she looked at me. “She would never give herself up to protect you. Never forget that,”
I looked away. “It’s the only way I can be useful to my family. I have to do something.”
“At the expense of your own life?” she laughed drily. “You have no idea the amount of hatred Lycan Fabian has for your family, do you?”
My heart raced. Of course, I did. I knew just how much that man despised may father. He had killed my step-brother in cold blood and them murdered me. he was a heartless monster whose vendetta was purely revenge.
She sighed, pointing to the tray she brought in earlier. “Eat. You’ll need it to replenish the energy you lost.”
I looked down at the tray filled with different varieties of dishes and my stomach whined, When was the last time I had tasteful meal to eat? My life had gone from being a slave who was being punished to becoming a monster’s punching bag so fast that I barely had time to put food in my stomach.
Scuttling closer, I picked up the chicken wings and took a bite from it. It took everything in me to keep my eyes from rolling to the back at how delicious it tasted. I had never tasted anything so –
I looked up to find the woman staring me with a merry expression on her face. Heat flooded my cheeks and I dimmed my head.
“Thank you very much,” I said, tears filling my eyes. “I am very grateful, ma.”
“Call me Ingrid,” she smiled. “And it is just food. Eat and rest o you can get your strength. I’ afraid your journey hasn’t ended. Lycan Fabian has been waiting for you to recover so he can be on his way.”
Her eyes glittered with tenderness
as she said his name and once again, I wondered what kind of relationship she had with him for her to talk about him with so much familiarity.
“He is a very impatient man.”
As if hearing his name brought him, the door opened and Lycan Fabian stepped in. although it’s only been a week – well, now that I thought about it, it was long enough – seeing him again made me feel like we had been apart for too long.
For a minute, I had forgotten just how handsome he is and with him standing so close, looking like a perfectly sculpted god, my heart soared in my chest, hammering againt the wall of my rib cage.
He frowned as he looked at me. his eyes darted to Ingrid’s face and his expression softened.
“You didn’t tell me she was awake.” He said softly, with a kind of voice I never thought him capable of. He was a completely different man with than he was around me and that made my heart constrict tightly.
Ingrid’s eyes strayed to my face and my cheeks heated. Did she just see my thoughts?
“She woke up not too long ago,” she said, in answer to Lycan Fabian. “And I wanted to make sure she was fine before I came to you.”
His mouth tightened unpleasantly but he wasn’t frowning. “And how is she?” he asked, as if I wasn’t even in the room. “Can she travel in her state? And what was wrong with her?”
I knew that despite the fact that he was asking all those questions, he didn’t really care about me. all he wanted was to leave this place as quickly as possible and I was hindering that.
Where were we even? I guess this was where Ingrid lived and he had stopped here because of my health. If I hadn’t been sick, would he have come? The two of them surely looked like they were more than just friends.
The thought of him being intimate with another woman suddenly made me feel like I was going to puke. What was this feeling?
When I looked up, Ingrid was giving me a look I didn’t understand and I looked away.
“Can we talk outside?” she said to Lycan Fabian. He grunted, then led her outside, closing the door behind them.

Fabian’s POVAs soon as the door closed behind me, I heaved a sigh of relief . I didn't know why I was tense but I was. Perhaps, it was because I had seen her safe and alive. The past two days – although I would never admit it – had been disturbing for me.I never cared about anyone the way I cared about her brat and it infuriated me. I didn't care about her. I couldn't care about the daughter of my enemy, let alone one who was as spoilt as she was.But the way my heart drew in my chest when I saw her big, green eyes. she was such a puppy who just needed love and attention.I shook my head, banishing the thoughts away. She was like a cankerworm devouring me slowly bit by bit. if I weren't so careful, I knew that I'd be falling and she was the last person that I wanted to fall with. I needed to eliminate her in a hurry. But I was going to make her beg for death first. We're departing tomorrow," I said, standing in front of Ingrid. "Get the men prepared. Will you accompany us?"Her brow
Seraphina 's POV,“You slut!” My step-mother screeched. In a trice, a smack grounded on my face and I dropped on the ground. Involuntary, my fist banged to my face, trying to stop the numbing sting that was circulating in my cheek.“Swine!” she fizzled at me. “Do you think you can get off with this?”My physique shivered with unshed tears, but I still held to heft myself up the ground, staying on my knees. When I glanced up, the venom in her eyes made me recoil. Alost immediately, saliva landed on my face. She spat on me!And I didn’t dare wipe it off.“You’re a disgrace to this family!” she sneered. “I always say it and I will say it again, your birth was a mistake. You should have died along with your mother instead of staying here and wasting space.”Tears flowed down my gall at her remarks. It was true that she constantly affirmed it, but no matter how many times I heard it, I would never get used to it.“What do you think ?” she shouted“T-Thank you.” I stuttered.“You can’t even
Seraphina's POV The front bodice of my dress dropped but I pulled it back up immediately, struggling to cover up the last shred of my dignity. Excited murmurs rang around me and I could smell the lust of the men as they drank me in.“I want her stripped naked!” Kristen yelled. “Strip her naked. It’s what the rule book says. Traitors are to be showed no mercy!”I shivered but it wasn’t from the cold. Was she really going to have me stripped naked in front of half the pack? Surely, she didn’t hate me that much?A small voice inside told me that was exactly how much she hated me.When no one moved to strip me naked, Kristen grumbled and marched forward. She slapped me first then began tearing the clothes off me until I was left in nothing but my undergarments. When her hand reached up to tear those as well, I stopped her. Please,” I screamed tears flowing down my gall. “Please, don’t do this.”“Let go!” she screeched, dragging away the small fabric that I still fiercely held to my chest
Seraphina's POV I had never been called to my father’s presence before. Not even once in the eighteen years I have lived. So, you could imagine my shock when Vivian woke me up only to tell me my father sent for me.As I walked down the hallway with two guards at my side to my father’s office which I had never once entered, my heartbeat raced.I have been in the pack house countless times. Although I didn’t live here like the rest of my family, it was my duty to clean and maintain the place. This was the first time I was coming here for something else.Did I do something wrong? Was this still about Kristen’s hair and my punishment? Did they finally convince my father to get rid of me? A lot of thoughts ran through my mind and when I the doors to his office finally opened, I was a mess.My father, restlessly moving up and down the room when I barged in without a heads-up, ceased pacing and turned my way. For the first time in my life, I locked eyes with my father , both of us trying to
Fabian 's POV I rolled down the widow of my car and stared up at Moon-ridge pack house. I hated this place. I wanted to laugh. I didn’t give a fuck about the law but I was going to keep it down for now. Once his amnesty was over, I would swoop in for the kill. He’d never know what hit him.As I walked towards the little pack house, people scurried out of my way. He was my mate! Why did I not feel it in our bond the minute he lost his life? Was our bond that weak?I knew that wasn’t the questions I should be asking, but I couldn’t bring myself to ask the real questions.Who was Lycan Fabian and why did my father not move a muscle when he killed his beloved son? I shivered as I recalled the life slowly ebbing away from my step-brother’s eyes. Was Lycan Fabian that powerful that even my father could not fight for his position or his son’s life?I knew he hated me and would never move a finger to protect me, but my step-brother was

If only they cared about me like he believed, but I knew this wasn’t going to affect them. I wasn’t Kristen who was the actual precious daughter. My mouth hurt. My entire face hurt. Thankfully, he pulled out of me and I immediately sucked in a lungful of air. Tears ran down my face freely. Before I could breath again, he dragged me up by the hair, throwing me on the bed unceremoniously.I gasped as the air I just found was knocked out of me.“Spread!”My lips quivered. ShameSeraphina’s POVMy body was on fire!It hurt everywhere and I was still fucking bleeding. I was thankful that Lycan Fabian didn’t want me riding with him because, what would I have done with all this blood? My head spun and even staying awake was becoming a chore. The was long, exhausting in that way. I don’t know for how long we drove but then, the cars suddenly came to a halt and Lycan Fabian approached our car. He barely glanced at me as he spoke directly to the driver.“There’s a river here. I want all of the things her parents gave her thrown in there.”What? My heart stopped and I turned to look at him in horror.I rushed out of the car, my legs carrying me towards the said river in a flash. I didn’t care about the trunks of course, all if the things in there weren’t mine and I never had the intention of wearing them. But then, that was the small problem. He clothes and jewelries my step-mother had packed for me all belonged to her daughter. She had given me those things n

While your life may no longer be in my hands, Lycan Fabian will not hesitate to kill you the moment he’s done with us. But I will make sure your sacrifice s paid, if we do make it out of this alive.”My father’s words neither reassured nor made me feel anything other than disgust at the man I once respected. I nodded, only for the sake of it and my father took a deep breath in, satisfied with himself.“The scars on your back,” he glowered. “Did he see them? I hope he did not because if you let him see them, then you have ruined us all.”I swallowed. Had he seen my back? I tried to recall the look on his face as he took me but I had kept my eyes closed most of the time. He mustn’t have, I concluded. If he had, then he wouldn’t have been so confident that I was Alpha Haynes’ precious daughter.“I asked you a question, you invalid!” my father thundered. “Did he see the marks on your damn back?”I

I could still hear the rustle of Jarpy’s wings overhead, the lingering hiss of magic binding me to a fate I never chose. The chamber emptied, but the silence yelled betrayal louder than any words. My skin burned where the forbidden sigil had been carved, the pain sharp and searing—yet it paled in comparison to the fire storming within my chest. An asset? A bargaining chip? Lycan Fabian? My father had finally gone mad. Jarpy! That cursed demon-bird now tethered to me like a ghost of fate, our mystical bond forged not from choice but by a man who saw fit to curse me into living for his dead son’s benefit. The hard-eyed old woman who’d etched the sigil into my skin vanished without a word, as though she hadn't just carved betrayal into my flesh.“Do not forget your purpose,” my father growled, shoving me toward the hall. “You are not his mate. You are our weapon.”A weapon. That was all I had ever bee
