Chapter 45 — The Lies She Wove

Gabrielle’s POV

I was halfway through sipping the bitter tea Giovanni had brought me when he stepped into the room, closing the door behind him.

His gaze was steady, but there was something sharp beneath it.

“Lily… we need to talk. We need to talk about who took you to the hospital, why and what happened the night I saved you?”

The sound of that made my pulse skip. I kept my expression blank, even as the air seemed to thicken.

“I told you—”

“You’ve told me nothing,” he cut in quietly. “And now I need to know the truth. Who are you really? And why did Alpha Rossi take you to that hospital?”

The steam from the tea rose between us, but my mouth had gone dry. I opened my mouth to speak, ready to put together another careful lie, because I can't tell them what truly happened.

The door opened and Lucian walked in.

I felt my muscles coil instantly, the way a prey reacts when a predator enters the room.

His presence sucked the oxygen out of the air, his shadow

Chapter 48 – The Wrong Door to Knock OnMarco’s POVThe low rumble of an engine broke the silence.Lucian’s head jerked toward the sound so sharply I thought his neck might snap. There was tension in his eyes, he became alert, tense, almost like he was expecting something to go wrong. The car rolled to a stop in the clearing, and when the driver’s door opened, I finally saw who had been behind the wheel.A man stepped out, he had broad shoulders, very tall and huge, with a scar on his face. He wore a dark jacket with that same faint air of dominance Lucian carried. He walked like someone who owned the ground he stepped on.I recognized the face in flashes, a flicker from the past, but it was like trying to hold on to smoke. I knew him from somewhere… but couldn’t place it.Lucian, however, barely looked at the man. His gaze darted to the car’s other doors, he was focused on them, almost as if he was waiting for someone else. When no one else stepped out, I watched his shoulders loosen

Chapter 47 — What’s Lucian hiding Marco’s POVIt's been days since Lucian reached out to me concerning our plans and worse than that, he's not even replying to my messages, which is really unlike him. So I decided to call him to find out why he has been under the radar. The first call rang and rang, and there was no answer. The second call went straight to voicemail.By the third, I was pacing my office like a caged wolf, angrily looking at my phone, and when he didn’t pick my call, I knew something was definitely wrong. Lucian never ignored me. Not when we are so close to achieving our goal.I told myself to stay calm, and give him the benefit of the doubt, but with every passing minute my mind started having dark conclusions and I didn't like it. With everything going on, and the sudden change in Lucian’s behaviour, I couldn’t ignore the faint scent of betrayal. When he finally called back two days later, his voice was annoyingly calm, and from the way he spoke to me, I could t

Chapter 46 – Drawn towards her Lucian’s POVThe rain hadn’t stopped all night. It drummed on the roof in a steady, relentless rhythm, the wind rattling the wooden shutters. The fire in Giovanni’s hearth spat and cracked, filling the cabin with heat, but none of it reached the cold knot twisting in my chest. She was here.Lily stood at the table, pouring herself a glass of water, her hair tumbling over one shoulder. Every movement was small, careful, actually too careful, maybe because I was also there, and my eyes tracked each one like they were the only thing keeping me alive.I sank deeper in Giovanni’s armchair, sitting in a slouched position. My arms were folded across my chest acting like I didn't care. But she hadn’t looked at me in hours, and that stung more than I cared to admit.Giovanni caught it, of course. He always did. A smirk curved his mouth from where he lounged on the couch.“You’re staying again tonight?” he asked, voice dripping with mockery.I didn’t bother answe

Chapter 44 — Lily or Gabrielle Lucian’s POVGiovanni was about to head inside when my phone buzzed.I pulled it from my pocket and checked the message. It was from Marco.“Where the hell are you? You forgot our meeting.”I cursed under my breath.Giovanni raised a brow. “Is there a problem?”“It's Marco. We had a strategy meeting at the border camp. I forgot.”He nodded slowly. “You should go. He’s probably already pacing.”“Yeah.” I slipped the phone back into my coat. “I won’t be long.”As I turned to leave, Giovanni called out, “Don’t worry about her.”I paused, then nodded once. “I’m not.”But I was.And I would be.The ride down the hill was fast and rough. The sky was bleeding orange at the edges when I reached the meeting point near the forest checkpoint.Marco was pacing by his jeep, a cigarette hanging from his mouth, his hands shoved in his jacket pockets. The moment he saw me, he threw the cigarette away and walked up, frowning.“Did you forget how to read a clock?” he sai

  • Bound by Blood: The Alpha's Forbidden Mate    Chapter 43

Chapter 43 – The Pull I Can't DenyLucian's POVI hadn’t moved from the edge of the forest. The moon was gone now, tucked behind heavy clouds, but I didn’t need light to feel her.She was inside the cabin, her scent still swirling in the cold night air like a curse I couldn’t outrun. The scent of wildflowers and determination to survive. My wolf paced, restless, furious with me.You rejected her. You insulted her.You failed your mate.I growled low, running a hand through my hair. I hadn’t meant to say those words in front of her. Heck, I didn’t even know she was standing there until I smelled her pain.Giovanni had brought a stranger into our woods, a stranger with a target on her back. And what did I do? I sized her up like she was the enemy. Like she wasn’t already bleeding inside. And then she snapped. Not just with tears. Not with trembling silence like most would.No.She roared. Her words had cut through the air like a knife, every syllable burning through the arrogance I’d
