Part Eighty-Nine

On Saturday morning, Inara ventured into the kitchen, still yawning and stopped short. Agron and his men were busy with breakfast and arguing about what Inara would prefer to eat and drink. She watched them for a while until Kadri cleared his throat and pointed in her direction.

“What’s going on?” she asked them.

They all had sheepish looks on their faces and she smiled with amusement. Granit was a big man, maybe even bigger than Austin and he was wearing a navy blue apron dusted with flour. Kadri was squeezing fresh oranges while Besnik was kneading dough and Dren was cutting up fruit. Agron seemed to be frying bacon.

“We wanted to surprise you with breakfast in bed,” Agron said and smiled at her.

“Firstly, you didn’t have to go to all this trouble just for me and secondly, it is a nice surprise either way,” she said and sat down at the counter.

“See, I told you she’d like it,” Granit said and wiped his hands on the apron.
