Elena’s POV

I had learned long ago that sometimes danger doesn’t announce itself with fangs or claws unsheathed.

Sometimes it smiled. Other times, it lay beside you on the bed, pretending to be your number one person while hurting you in one of the harshest ways. In some cases, it even showed its head as a dedicated worker, bowing before you at will, all while wishing and plotting to take over your position beside the Alpha.

All these experiences put me in a position where I wasn’t as trusting of people as I used to be.

Search was the case that morning when I first noticed my maid making tea for me.

It was the same one who always made my tea. Even when Vivienne’s gift came on, she was in charge of it.

But on that morning after I told her to make me tea, something pushed me towards the kitchen, and I stumbled up on her pouring something into my cup.
