The Alpha-son and Rogue sat a few tables down from Suki and Rey, but at a perfect angle to allow Brendan to still make eye contact with Suki.

Suki blushed as he watched her and looked back to Rey to help her centre herself. “So… was I dreaming last night, or did the two of you actually make some kind of truce?”

“That was no dream. We made that agreement so we don’t end up killing each other, and so it’s fairer on you to make your choice.”

Brendan’s voice continued to be loud in her mind. But I’m sure you had even better dreams about us… maybe even wetter dreams.

Stop eavesdropping, and be more gentle down the bond, please. My head hurts. Suki sighed and sipped her coffee.

I know a few fun ways to fix that headache of yours.

Suki coughed, almost choking on her coffee, and covered her face with her hand.

“Are you okay?” Rey questioned, his face painted with concern.

She nodded. “Yeah, someone is just saying some inappropriate things through the bond,” she cleared her throat and d

A chill consumed her. “Didn’t mean for who to die?”“That family. I-It wasn’t me, I didn’t,” he sighed, “just let me explain the full story.”Suki blinked, and a tear streamed down her face. “No… Tell me that’s not true. Tell me you’re not the reason his parents are dead?”Furrowing his brows, he questioned, “Whose parents?” “Reynard’s.” Brendan’s eyes widened, “What?” “At first, we thought those visions were nothing related to me and the bonds I have with you two, until Rey noticed similarities to the youngling who watched his family get brutally murdered in front of them. That vision was about him.” Shaking his head. “Wait, wait, just give me a second to wrap my head around this–”“He told me what happened, Brendan,” she snarled, “and I felt his pain and suffering through our bond. I could see how much he was reliving that nightmare all over again. Please… Please tell me this isn’t true and that this is just one of your sick jokes.”“Love, let me explain,” he stepped closer, tak

Suki was spiralling. Ever since she and Reynard returned from their visit to the Silver Moon pack, she had been avoiding him, not knowing what to say. How could she? Everything she was thinking was speculation at best, and if she were wrong, it would ruin Brendan. But if she were right… She had taken it into her own hands and began researching shadow magic in her town’s library, trying to find any information she could to see if what she was suspicious of could be true. Her research was running thin. Most information on the Shadow pack was useless; they were all practically savages and thrived off of chaos. What she was looking for had to be from Nighttide; she needed information from but she couldn’t find anything yet. Scouring the online database for any form of information that could help her, she came up short. Nighttide was known for being extra secretive and protective; all that was known about them was that their army and warriors were mighty, and they were ones every pack

~ REYNARD ~Dad pushed me out of the way and jumped towards the door, taking a shot that was aimed at me, but it wasn’t a gun–the men also had a dart gun for their wolfsbane. My father wouldn’t go down so easily. He stood up, grunting at the paint surging through his veins and moved for the man. The man emptied the dart gun into my father’s chest until he finally collapsed. “Dad, no,” I bellowed, shuffling over to him. “Please, don’t leave me.” He wheezed, “I’ll never leave you, son.” He placed a hand on my chest, over my heart. “As long as you follow your heart, y-your mother and I will always be with you.” Shaking my head, my body trembled. “Please!” “I’m proud of the man you are becoming…” his voice trailed off as he passed out from the overdose of wolfsbane, never to awaken again. I cried out another scream. This time, the men didn’t even bother to silence me; they just grabbed me and dragged me towards the front door. Another loud bang was set off from upstairs, a final gun

  • Bound by Two   Chapter 31

~ REYNARD ~I was 13. I had spent the day with my best friend whilst my parents were out on their civil duties. Dad was the head of the military–an inspiring and powerful warrior, and Mum was a mentor for youngling werewolves–helping them learn what to expect as they grow and connect with their inner wolf.My parents were my hope and motivation; they were everything I aspired to be: good, selfless and kind. They did everything to ensure others were comfortable and safe, even me.That day, they were out much later, together on an important task on behalf of the Alpha. To this day, I still don’t know what the task was. When evening hit, it was like any other night in the Moonstone pack, full of peace and quiet. Looking back, I realised how tired they were when they returned home. They always were; they gave their jobs 120%, always more and never less. Even though they were exhausted, when they walked through the door, they greeted me with joy and excitement. We ate dinner together a

“That’s not possible,” Suki exhaled, moving backwards and bumping into Reynard. Sensing her unease, he held her close. Breathe, Ki.Everett narrowed his eyes towards her. “You didn’t know you had that power?” Shaking her head, she spoke faintly, “No. I thought the stories behind the Moonstone pack and the powers within the crystals were exactly that–stories.” She gripped onto the crystal, which had finally cooled down enough for her her hold. “I didn’t know it was real, and I definitely didn’t know I was able to harness that power.” Amelia pushed herself to her feet, stumbling slightly, feeling weak. Everett flashed beside her and held her up. “I’m okay,” she sighed. “The trip took a toll on me, but I’m okay.” Leaning into Everett, allowing him to support her, she looked at Suki. “Thank you.” “Hm?” Suki squeaked. “Even though you had no idea what you were doing, you saved me from another week of bedrest.” She groaned, “I think I’m not going to be able to enter the spirit world for

Reynard stuttered over any words that tried to escape his mouth. He and Suki looked at each other in shock. Amelia whacked his arm again. “Stop being a dick!”Everett laughed, “I’m only messing!” He relaxed, “I’ve pieced together that you and whoever that other male werewolf was who trespassed on our land were here to claim back your mate.” Taking a step forward towards Rey, he held out his hand and smiled genuinely. “If I were in your position, too, I would have done the exact same thing.”Suki blushed. A proud smile broke free on Reynard’s face. He took Everett’s hand and shook it. “Your mate is a wonderful woman and deserves the best. You make sure she gets it.” “Believe me, I will.” The smile Suki once had faded as her realisation of having to choose her mate hit her again. It wasn’t fair to be drawn to two men, only to be allowed to pick one. It’s not fair, she thought to herself, but even more so, she felt it wasn’t fair how much she was leading them both on.
