Chapter Two

Rome forgot about the random Alpha that had approached him as soon as he walked away, or more like he forced himself not to think about him.

He had far too much on his plate anyway.

A lot of things didn’t add up, the Alpha hadn’t seemed threatening… he shook those thoughts out of his mind, taking out his phone to ring up Draken for updates.

Almost like his second in command sensed his intent, his phone rang.

“About fucking time.” He growled into the phone, clearing the dance floor and making his way past the bar. “Report.”

“Uh boss, I’ve got some bad news.” Draken started hesitantly and Rome could feel the delicate control he had over his control slip a little.

“Out with it.” He grumbled darkly, increasing his pace.

“We lost sight of King Kade.” Draken finally blurted out, his wince loud.

Rome stopped abruptly. “You what?” He had to ask, his brain refusing to process Draken’s words.

“We lost the Alpha Kin…”

“How do you even fucking manage that?” Rome snarled, striding to his office.

He hung up when he got to the door of his office, he knew that Draken was behind it.

Two imposing guards kept watch on the outside, bowing their heads respectfully and opening the door for their boss.

“You know what? I don’t want to fucking know how you fucked up, fucking fix it or someone is eating led.” He muttered in a dark voice as soon as he swept into his office.

Draken stood by the side of his executive desk, looking like a harbinger of death in his all black outfit.

He wore a loosely knitted black sweater that was too large for him with aesthetic rips in the material, ripped jeans and steel toed deathstompers.

Pale skin peeking out of the rips, soft red eyes stared out of an equally pale face, dark circles under his eyes

The only splash of color on him was his dark green hair, well, if you counted out the ink he was sporting. The tousled, dyed hair was packed up in a messy man bun, tendrils escaping in wisps framing his hard face.

“Boss.” Draken acknowledged, so tall that even though he slouched, he still towered imposingly. “I’ll take full responsibility for this, the men underestimated the Alpha King.” He immediately explained. “I replaced the men too, we should hear good news soon.”

“Good.” Rome muttered, still in a particularly dark mood and it wasn’t because a pesky Alpha King had shown up on his front doors unannounced or even the fact that sloppy men were making it into his ranks but a particularly irritating pair of ice blue eyes.

Hands pinning him to the walls of his own club.

Who was that Alpha?

It was very out of character for him to try and find out more about the Alpha that had bumped into him earlier, hopefully, it would be a one time thing.

Which was a fucking relief considering how much the Alpha unsettled him…

“... Boss? Boss?” Draken’s familiar voice caught his attention, making him glance up.

“We’ve sighted Kade, He stopped at the bar to ask a couple questions.”

Rome let out an involuntary deep breath, the night was just starting, he had to get things under control.

“Tell Shu to let him by, I want him out of my club as soon as possible.” He said in a much calmer tone.

The longer King Kade spent in his highest earning club, the more complications would arise.

Other Alpha Kings and Mob Bosses would probably think they were teaming up.

He would rather shoot himself in the foot.

“He’s on his way here.” Draken’s voice filled his head once more, his second in command preferred to stand and frankly, Rome couldn’t care less.

“I’ll handle the clumsy men, do you want me to remain here?” He asked with a constant look of disinterest on his face.

He wasn’t worried about the boss, Rome was a force of nature. He was more concerned for the Alpha King showing up.

“Might as well,” Rome shrugged, long tapered fingers crossed and placed on his table. “I want you fucking quiet the entire time.” He tagged on, leaning back to manspread on his chair.

Draken’s expression didn’t change, mellow red eyes looking Rome over.

Rome was always casually dangerous but tonight there was a razor sharp lethality to him that made the hairs of anyone around him stand on end.

It could only mean one thing…

Rome was pissed.

Draken’s emotional grid was in shades of gray but he couldn’t help but feel a twinge of sympathy for whoever had caused it.

A soft knock alerted their attention to the door, it then went silent, waiting for Rome’s permission.

“Come right in.” Rome called out in a bland voice, void of emotion.

The door swung open to reveal one of the bodyguards, Big Tim, one of the guards coming in first.

They knew well that anyone who managed to get to the Boss’ office was meant to be there but for some reason were really skeptical about this one.

Draken could understand why, he had never seen the Alpha King in person before but there was no denying the authority and dominance rolling off the tall Alpha in waves.

Ron, the other bodyguard followed right after, practically sticking to the Alpha King with heavy suspicion evident in his bushy brows.

“Leave.” Rome said casually after they had ushered the Alpha King in, never looking up from the silver handled gun lying on his desk.

Draken noted that the guards were slightly hesitant about leaving and there was no missing their drawn weapons.

They left eventually because going against Rome’s orders was suicidal.

Draken remained quiet, mellow eyes fixed on the Alpha King standing in the doorway, his attention was taken up by something else instead.

Those dangerously predatory ice blue eyes were fixed on Rome, unwavering in their intensity.

The tension in the room only thickened, the Alpha King making no move to take a step forward.

Rome eventually cracked under the pressure, lifting his head slowly only for his eyes to widen in realization and then narrow almost immediately.

He was staring right up into familiar blue eyes.
