Stella's POV
Kate looked pale and sick when I reached her apartment. " Kate, are you alright?" I asked, concerned. It was unusual to see her like that. " I need to show you something, but I must warn you that it won't be pretty," my friend replied, and I felt cold sweat rolling down my back. What could be so bad that she felt the need to warn me? " I came across the video recently released on the internet," Kate spoke again, and I raised my brow. Why would I be interested in seeing a video? " Come with me." We entered her small living room, where her laptop was on the sofa. " I was surfing through the darknet," Kate said, looking at me with concern. She was the type of woman who watched the documentary about serial killers to sleep better, so I was not surprised by her words. " Kate, I am not in the mood," my voice was dull. I only wanted to go home, take some pills to help me sleep and forget about the last events at least for a couple of hours. " I found this," my friend turned her laptop so the screen faced me. My heart skipped a beat. I recognised the room immediately. It was the same room where Adriana was found dead. But now, on the video, she was still alive. " Are you sure? " My sister's voice was clean and strong, as she looked at someone hidden behind the camera. " It will help you relax, " I heard a male voice, but could not think of any of her friends who sounded like that. " Bottoms up," Adrianna giggled, and drank the liquid in the cup. " Good girl. After this, you won't be so uptight," the same male's voice replied, but I also heard muffled laughter in the background. They were not alone there! Kate paused the video. " It is getting ugly from now on. Are you sure you want to see it?" I gave her a stiff nod. I had to see it. Someone was there with my sister. Why did they not help her? Kate exhaled and pressed play again. The video glitched, and next I saw my sister still on the bed, but she seemed already under the influence of what she had drunk. She kept looking around, as if searching for something. " Adriana, what is going on?" I heard another voice, this time it belonged to a female. " I don't feel good," my sister replied, barely able to focus. She glanced at her hands, and I noticed that they were shaking. " Tabs are kicking in," another male laughed. How many people were there? " I am dizzy, I want to go home," my sister said, her voice much weaker this time. She had a problem with speaking. " Don't be such a buzzkill," someone commented, and laughter filled the background again. " My heart is pounding. Please help me." I looked away upon hearing the plea in Adriana's voice. She looked scared. " Ralf, I think I am going to pass out." Ralf? Who was Ralf? I have never heard my sister talking about anyone with that name. " Stop overreacting," The male from the beginning of the video replied coldly. I watched Adriana lean back and fall on the bed. Her eyes were open, as I remembered when the police found her. " Is she breathing?" Someone asked in the background. Silence filled the room. " Go and check." " You can go and check if you want." " Screw it. I am getting the fu*k out of here." The video ended. I glanced at Kate, who was studying my face carefully. " Can you get it on CD for me?" I asked slowly. My friend nodded and placed the laptop on her knees. " What do you want to do with that?" She asked without looking at me. " I will take it to the police. Now, they will have proof that Adriana was not alone there. Those people made her drink and then left her without help. Police will have to listen to me now. Kate pulled out a CD and placed it in a plastic box. " I hope that will help." We hugged each other, and I left shortly after. Now, all I had to do was get to the police station and show them the video. It was the proof I needed. Adriana did not overdose. She was a victim of a cruel joke that cost her life, and I was determined to make those people pay for it. I have reached the police station in less than twenty minutes. One of the officers took me to the chief. " My name is Stella Sanders. My sister Adriana was found dead a couple of days ago." Chief Murphy glanced at me and typed something on his computer. " Yes, overdose. My condolences. Is there anything I can do for you?" " My sister did not overdose. At least not by choice." " It is rarely happening by choice," Chief Murphy replied, fixing his glasses on his nose. " She was given the drugs." I shook my head and pulled the CD out. " My friend found it on the internet." I placed the disc on the desk. Murphy shot me a surprised look and took the CD with hesitation. He placed it inside the drive, and soon I heard my sister's voice. We spent another couple of minutes in silence as he watched the record. " I see," he finally mumbled. " I will keep this as evidence, and we will reopen the case." " Thank you," I replied, standing up. " I will keep you informed." Chief Murphy shook my hand, and I left his office. On the way out, I stopped at the bathroom. I heard Murphy's voice when I was about to open the door. " Get rid of it, and make sure the video will disappear from the internet. No one can find out about that. We do not need problems." I stopped breathing. What the hell was happening? I leaned against the wall, waiting for the chief to walk away. I left the police station utterly confused. Why does Murphy try to sweep everything under the rug? I put my hands in my pockets to keep them warm and found something inside. It was the piece of paper our regular gave me. ' If you need help...' I read the words. I needed help, desperately. I dialled the number with shaking hands.Hades's POV Everything went quiet when Stella entered the dining room. She looked gorgeous in the gown I gave her. Marissa had an excellent taste. I made a mental note to thank her later. Stella gracefully came closer, and I noticed Javier had stopped breathing momentarily, admiring her. I did not like it one bit. " There she is," I spoke, standing up. Stella shyly looked around, and I rushed to her side. " Come on, dear, meet my friends," I said, ensuring her attention was on me. I leaned forward as if I tried to kiss her, but instead, I whispered. " Showtime." Stella nodded, and I took her hand. " Javier, meet my love, Stella," I introduced her, ensuring to put an accent on the word 'my'. He was known for constantly hitting at women, usually way above his league. I pulled Stella closer to me, hoping he would get a hint. Then I glanced at the woman sitting next to him. " And this is his sister, Vivian," I added coldly. Stella seemed to recognise my tone, and she imme
Stella's POV I looked around the room Liam had assigned to me. It was spacious and bright. In the middle was the enormous bed with beautiful silk sheets. I touched the soft fabric. The air was filled with the delicate scent of flowers. I noticed a small bouquet standing on the bedside drawer. This room was nothing I expected from a place like this. But I wouldn’t be myself if I hadn't done one thing. I opened the wardrobe and looked inside. There were no skeletons, but I had to check. To be honest, it was completely empty, so I placed my own bag inside. Since 'unpacking' took me ten seconds, I had more time to familiarise myself with the place. Soon, I discovered a bathroom with a giant bathtub in the middle. Soft towels were neatly folded on the table next to it. Drawers were filled with every accessory a woman could ask for. There were various shampoos, conditioners, creams, and other things I could barely recognise. I sat on the bathtub's edge, wondering if Liam had
Hades's POVI watched Stella's eyes widen in... shock, fear, I could not tell. She seemed to be frozen, unable to speak. " Hello, " I said, hoping my voice would sound calm. It looked like this single word brought her back to reality. " You are the boss?" She asked, but the question came out as a squeak. People usually reacted like this, but in different circumstances. I was not a threat to her. " I am." My reply was simple. Stella shook her head. " You did not tell me." This time, it sounded like an accusation. I raised my brow, surprised by how quickly she composed herself. I was genuinely impressed. " You never asked," I replied with a slight smirk, and she gasped. " I usually do not ask people if they were involved in the criminal industry."" Fair enough," I chuckled. " Do you want to sit?" I asked, pointing to the chair in front of my desk. Stella offered me a suspicious look, so I moved to my seat, leading by example. She slowly followed my lead. " I am sure you have some
Stella's POV My body felt numb. Liam offered to take me home, but I politely declined, too scared that her would notice how freaked out I was. He did not pressure me; he just called the cab and waited until I was gone. When I reached my home, my body gave up completely. I sat on the floor, leaning against the wall for support. He was a member of the mafia! My head was spinning whenever those words appeared in my mind. Of course, it could be some kind of sick joke, but my guts were telling me it was a freaking truth. Now, it all made sense. His terrifying, mysterious aura. How the others stayed away from him, too scared to bother him. But, mafia? I could not even believe it was a real thing. Maybe somewhere else, but here? It seemed surreal. I have spent another fifteen minutes staring at the wall. What have I done? I could easily answer that question. I got myself bound to a member of the mafia. If that wasn't scary enough, I offered to do anything in exchange for his h
Stella's POV " What are you willing to do to find out?" He asked me, and I wondered for a split second only. The image of Adriana's dead body flashed before my eyes. " Everything," I replied without hesitation. His brow rose as he leaned back on his seat, exposing the tattoos on his neck. " That is a loaded answer. Are you sure about that?" " My sister died in a filthy room, while people watched. No one helped her. They left her there like old garbage," I looked at him, lowering my voice. We were in a public place, I did not want to cause the drama. " How do you know all of that?" The man before me asked, as his eyes darkened. I noticed how he balled his fists. Good. "Someone recorded everything. Like it was some entertainment. They even uploaded it to the internet. My friend found it." His eyes were not leaving my face. The aura I always felt around him intensified. I almost expected to see some dark shadows wrapping around him. This man looked like a demon tra
Hades's POV " Jeremy, you really disappointed me," I said, cleaning my hands from the blood staining them. Man, before me groaned. His face was covered in bruises, and he had a couple of ugly cuts; that could be my ring. A couple of drops of his blood landed on my shirt, ruining it. I really liked that shirt. " You stole from one of my men. And that is like stealing from me." My tone was calm, but my eyes said more than thousands of words. Jeremy shifted on his chair, and my men immediately stepped forward, but I stopped them with my hand. " I only took some stuff," he barely whispered, and I raised my brow. " Oh, you only took some. That explains everything. Why haven't I thought about that?" My words were followed by another punch. " I thought our relationship was built on trust, Jeremy. And rules. We have rules here, Jer, and you should remember them." Another punch. My men moved closer, this time to stop me. I shot them a glance, and they froze. This was between Jeremy
