Elder Darius’ voice cut across the standoff. “This is Bloodmoon territory. You’ll leave now, or I’ll have your head mounted on the south wall.”

Draven’s gaze flicked to him. “You’ve grown weaker, old wolf. And your pack’s politics… amuse me. The Luna’s seat is stolen, and your bonds are divided. This is the perfect time to take what’s mine.”

Kael’s voice was sharp. “You think you can walk in here and make demands? You won’t make it past the gate.”

“Oh, I already have.”

A sharp whistle cut through the air, and from the mist, more shadows took shape, wolves flanking us from the edges of the southern field, their eyes glowing in the half-light. We were surrounded.

“This is the choice,” Draven said, his tone turning cold. “Hand her over by dawn, and I will spare your pack. Refuse…”

The mist behind him swirled unnaturally, the air thick with the tang of magic. “And I will paint your walls red before the sun rises.”

The silence that followed was heavier than any battle cry.

  • Bound to the moon   Chapter 115 - Shadows Within

The whisper clung to my ears long after the shadow disappeared into the mist. I stood frozen by the river, breath clouding in the cold night air, staring at the space where it had been. Then I saw them.Footprints.Wet, bare, too large to be mine. They shimmered faintly on the grass, leading away from the riverbank, toward the heart of the pack.My pulse slammed against my ribs. The intruder hadn’t been watching from outside. It was already inside.I forced myself to move, following the trail until it blurred into the dirt path. By the time I reached the courtyard, the prints were gone, swallowed by the noise of guard patrols and restless wolves. Two sentries stood at the gate, arguing.“I’m telling you, I saw someone near the infirmary,” one snapped, gripping his spear. His eyes were wide, too wide. “Tall, cloaked. Just… watching.”The other guard shook his head. “You&rsq

For a moment, no one spoke. Even the healers froze.Elder Darius stepped forward slowly, his gaze sharp. “You’re sure?”“Yes, Alpha. Shadowfang colors. At least two dozen by the first count, but they were keepingtheir distance.”The name made the air feel colder. I’d heard the stories, assassins, silent hunters, a pack thatthrived in shadows and struck without warning. They weren’t an army. They were a knife in thedark.“What the hell are they doing here?” Thorne demanded, moving toward the scout. The man shook his head. “No idea, but… they weren’t attacking. Just watching.”Kael’s jaw tightened. “Then they’re scouting for someone. Probably Draven.”Elder Darius’ voice was calm, but there was steel under it. “Or they’re here for their ownreaso

The morning was too still.Even with the clang of armor and the steady thud of boots on stone, the air had that heavy, waiting quiet, the kind that made my wolf’s ears flatten in warning.I stood at the gates with Thorne, scanning the southern horizon. The forest lay ahead, its shadows clinging stubbornly to the mist. Then the scout came. Breathless. Eyes wide. “Movement in the southern ridge, and it’s not just a patrol. There’s… more. A lot more.”Before I could speak, the alarm bell thundered through the compound, its deep clang shaking the stones beneath my feet.By the time we reached the war room, Elder Darius was already issuing orders. His voice cut through the noise with unshakable authority.“Archers to the walls. Barricade the east gate. All border patrols return to the inner perimeter now.”Riven strode in beside me, his eyes sharp. “Scouts confirm numbers?”The scout who’d brought the message swallowed hard. “More than we’ve seen in years. And they’ve got… something else w

Riven swore under his breath, pulling back. Thorne straightened, frustration etched on his face.Kael’s gaze lingered on me for a heartbeat before he pushed away.We dressed quickly, the heat between us cooling to a simmer of unfinished need. My body still hummed with what we’d started. The interruption felt like theft. The council chamber was lit in gold and shadow, the air heavy with the scent of burning sage. At the far end, on a raised dais, Elder Darius, the Alpha King and father of my mates, sat in his carved throne. To his right, Luna Celina. Her hand rested on the curve of her swollen belly, her smile sweet and poisonous all at once. When her eyes found Kael, she leaned forward just slightly. “Baby,” she purred, her voice carrying over the polished stone floor, “why not come and sit right here, next to us?” She clutched her stomach, as if to remind everyone in the room of what she carried.Kael hesitated only a second before obeying. The scrape of his chair leaving my side fel

Kael’s jaw clenched so hard I could see the muscle ticking. “You think I wanted that? You think I’d risk Rory’s place for her?”“You already have,” Thorne growled, stepping closer. “You gave her ammunition against Rory. You gave her a way to claim the Luna seat and you’ve done nothing to take it back.”Kael spun on him, his voice sharp. “And what would you have me do, Thorne? Drag her out by the hair? Tell the entire pack that the Luna is unfit because,”“Because she is,” Thorne snarled, his control fraying. They were inches from each other now, shoulders squared, the air between them charged with barely restrained violence.“Stop.” My voice came out harder than I expected. They both turned to me, their breathing heavy.“You want to argue about Celina? Fine. Do it after I’m gone. But right now, we’re talking about me, and
