“Davis! It’s Samarah, I called to let you know that I finally made it! I just got the key to my dorm apartment at TSU!” “It’s an actual apartment?” Davis’s voice sounded on the line. I laughed. “More like a kitchenette from what I understand.” “I should move in with you!” His voice was cheery. “Besides the fact that I will have a roommate, mom and dad would never let you. Besides, I’m pretty sure that it is a girls only dorm silly.” He sighed on the other end. “Yeah, they are driving me nuts, I can’t wait to be 18 and get out of here.” His voice changed drastically, showing his discomfort at being the prized child. Although they doted on him, they also ensured to teach him the ins and outs of being from an alpha family. Things they never bothered teaching me, even though I was next in line after they gave up their position. “Why don’t you come visit me before the holidays? I got the ability to work remotely at Wulverson’s Tech, they even gave me a raise. They said that moving four hours away won’t be the reason they lose me.” I giggled. I loved working at the tech company, and I was their best IT person, not to mention the only girl. “We will spend a couple days at a hotel here.” I really wanted to cheer him up. “Yeah! That would be awesome!” Davis’s earlier disappointment changed into a more joyful mood. He was always quick to change moods, and I was happy that I was able to get him out of his head, at least for a moment. “Great!” I smiled into my cell phone. “I have to go, I am almost to the dorm. Love you little brother!” “Love you too sister.” He made silly kissy noises before hanging up. I unlocked the door to room 329 and walked in with my two bags. I didn’t have much, I tried to keep a simple lifestyle. After the fiasco with Riley a month ago, I was determined to live as simply as I could to save every cent to cover tuition. It was a hefty bill. I did plan to apply for more scholarships, it was unheard of for someone of an alpha line to need money for such things but my parents claimed to be using it for Davis’s future. It was just as well, I wanted Davis to have the absolute best of everything, and I was smart enough to make it on my own. A beautiful blond girl was in the room folding some clothes on her bed. She gave me a bright smile as I set my bags next to the unclaimed bed. “Hi!” She bounced over to me in her heels while clapping her hands. She reached an arm out for the formal werewolf greeting where you each grab the other’s forearm. It’s a bit more intimate than that of the human handshake. “I’m Allison Blackhair, Ironfall is my pack. It is so nice to meet you! It’s my first year here also, and my brother’s, Carlton, he’s my twin.” I smiled and pushed up my glasses. “I’m Samarah Lynxmoon, from Moonriver Pack.” “Wow! That pack is located like ten hours away!” I smiled again. “Five actually. But I didn’t come from there, I was living in neutral territory, family drama.” I shrugged. “It was four hours to get here.” “Oh girl I totally get it, family can be so overbearing sometimes! Gosh your eyes are so pretty! Have they always been such a vibrant green?” “Yes, thank you. So what is your major?” I asked sitting on the bed behind me. She joined me on the bed. “I’m here for business and fashion, two majors will be a lot of work but I want to run my own fashion company.” She beamed. “Fashion is my thing!” I gave her a once over and had to agree with her. The material of her clothing was definitely brand name, she wore a blue skirt with a blue shirt, and a long black a-line lapel cinched coat that was sleeveless. It was gorgeous. “That’s great. I’ve never been able to coordinate an outfit in my entire life.” I laughed and she laughed with me. “Well you have the perfect roomie then! I will help you with your fashion sense, have you ever thought about using contacts by the way? The frame of your face should be shown off, you totally rock it! Oh I would just love to give you a makeover!” She gushed. “What are you majoring in?” “I am doing courses for technology and computer science.” Her eyes widened. “Ohmygosh!! You must be like super smart! Oh this is perfect! I love having smart friends, I mean, I’m not exactly a dumb blond, but computer science? No way!” I smiled at the thought of making a friend so quickly. I felt like this was really going to be amazing, I didn’t think I would end up with friends while doing college, I thought maybe it would be like high school where I was seen as nerdy and invisible. I decided that I really did want to be Allison’s friend, and the warmth in my heart spread. “You know, I think I would really be interested in that makeover, I won’t need to worry about the contacts though.” I smiled. “I scheduled an eye surgery, it happens tomorrow. Since classes don’t officially start for two weeks I wanted to have it done.” And I knew that Riley would be attending this college as well, so not wearing glasses and having a makeover made me feel like maybe I could be more beautiful. I always hated my glasses, some girls looked gorgeous in them, me? Not so much. I looked and felt like a dork. She bobbed her head. “Awesome! Oh we can go shopping after your appointment for a new wardrobe, and some make up, and good hair products! I can’t wait!” She squealed in delight while jumping up from the bed. “Do you think you could teach me how to walk in heels?” I asked awkwardly. Her eyes brightened in satisfaction. “Absolutely! We will start small ok?” I didn’t think that I was a girl who cared about how she looked, but after what Riley pulled, my transformation was going to be more than just getting to the top. I needed to look it too, and after seeing Allison I really wanted to look good. I wanted to look good for me.Samantha“You’re a cheeky little shit, aren’t you?” I wrapped my hand around his neck and squeezed just a bit. I chuckled darkly. “Kill the rest, he’s going to help us get our property back. His eyes widened as the rest of his companions were slaughtered right in front of him. “I said—” he began to splutter, and I smacked him harshly.“You said your death would make the news public. You are alive. And do you honestly believe I would let these little friends of yours live, knowing what they know?” I scoffed, “I’m not daft.”“How do I know you won’t kill me and my other friend the moment you have Lykanthrope?”“You don’t. As it is, we need a test subject, and we have a deal. I don’t go back on my word.” I pushed him back as I let my hand drop from his throat. “Now, let us go find your special friend.”As it happened, his friend was nearby. Within walking distance even. ‘I think enough tweaks with Lykanthrope could force loyalty from anyone.’ Ansel mind linked me.‘He’s right, a couple
SamanthaIt was silent when we reached the abandoned factory, eerie. It didn’t bother me though, I would kill every last one of them if I needed to in order to get the schematics of Lykanthrope back. Sting was the absolute worst group to have access to something of this magnitude. All of Silverclaw was with me, as well as our sworn Barriers and 8 warriors that had shown the most promising growth since our retreat in Apalachicola. Draegon, Ashton, Venus, Stevie, Jeverah, Allen, Pope, and Thella. After the fiasco with her brother, Jeverah made many strides to prove herself loyal, and became stronger.Ashton, under Carlton’s wing, had gotten better since then also, and tonight, he was being tested. They all were. The evening sky was dancing with its colors, marking the end of the day. I had hoped Sting would be winding down, ending their day.The fact that some of their men were captured, meant I had little time before they attempted to move their location, or dispose of my property. I w
SamanthaIt was moments before the cameras would begin rolling as we announced our global transition. My nerves were rolling, Ansel was hot on the trail for the Sting group, working closely with the police investigation, and I was sure we would have information soon. Though it didn’t stop my mind from wandering to what they may or may not have figured out about Lykanthrope. As Angel instructed, and Damon, I was presenting a solid face for my position as the reporters got ready. We stood in front of Silverclaw Enterprise headquarters at the top of the staircase. Carlton and Daniel were with Ansel, so it was me, Damon, Angel, and Vienna. There was a ribbon to be cut in front of us, and a very large audience. Being mindful of the fact that not only werewolves would see the broadcast, we ensured our words would fit with human society. And we certainly made technological advances for humans as well so we did not draw attention.Elixir 2.0 was our main focus for this though. “Thank you a
Samantha“Sex?” Nick’s voice was even more confused than when we had begun.“When you take the Silverclaw oath, and name the family as yours, you have a very strong desire to be with Samantha, and her you.” Angel explained. “We had no idea at the time, she was messing with some chemicals and tech, managed to change her blood, even her very core. A blood oath was to give me similar abilities, and it did…but it did more than that.”Each of the Silverclaw members chuckled at Nick’s expression. He looked at Damon and Carlton. “But you’re both gay.”“Oh not for the first week after we became Silverclaw honey.” Damon answered and we all began laughing some more.“Even though you had mates?” Nick’s eyes were incredulous. “You brought them that pain of…of the betrayal?” He tried wrapping his mind around the concept, we could all tell.“That doesn’t happen with this.” Daniel took up the explanation. “After the bloodletting part of the oath, we actually become a more unified being. Our minds me
SamanthaCarlton laughed and slapped Nick on the back. “It’s quite a bit more than just a blood oath buddy.”“So I’ve heard.” Nick answered wryly. “And seen.” He looked at me pointedly.I sighed. He really wasn’t going to let this go.“Bro, you haven’t seen anything yet.” Ansel took another swig of his beer before continuing. “Silverclaw isn’t your typical wolf, on a larger scale than you think.”“Then tell me. What’s the big secret? What makes you guys so close and so special? You guys are closer to each other and to Samantha than anyone else, even though you have mates, I can see you’re each bonded closely. Especially to Sam.”Vienna looked uneasily around at everyone. “Nick, this isn’t something we can talk about here.” Her voice was hushed. “Becoming Silverclaw and its ins and outs are saved for a discussion with those we seriously consider allowing to join. If they choose that it isn’t worth it, they are turned away with the assurance they speak to no one about what it entails.”
SamanthaNick’s words stunned me into silence as I looked him in the eye. My world seemed to spin. How could he want to be Silverclaw?“Nick…you would have to denounce Dragonmoon…you’d never be the alpha of your pack. You’ve been groomed to take it over by Serburi.”“I know all of that. But you’re more of an alpha than I ever was Samantha. Silverclaw is important to me, I love you as much as the rest of your Silverclaw family.”“Nick, you don’t understand what you’re asking. Not really. Becoming Silverclaw changes us…” I faltered for the words to say. There were so many things that came with taking on the blood oath, much different than anyone could experience with any other oath bond.“Alpha,” Draegon came up to me and Nick before Nick could reply. He bowed deeply. “May I have this dance?”During my conversation with Nick, the music had taken a bit of a slower turn, in my eagerness to stop the conversation with Nick I agreed. Setting my beer on the table nearest to me, I let Draegon
