“Nick?” I asked incredulously. The only time I had ever met the man was when I was in the pack hospital. He smiled at me. His chin stubble had grown to more of his face, making him appear older than the last time I saw him. “Hi, Nicholas, or Nick.” He greeted Allison and sat down on my other side, seeming to enjoy my disbelief at his presence. “Allison.” She said, and almost sounded shy, which was absolutely not like the woman I was getting to know the last two weeks. “I didn’t realize that you went here.” I explained my surprise. A smile played on his lips again. “Well, we didn’t really discuss much, did we?” He had leaned to whisper in my ear and I was sure that I was blushing at his proximity. He smelled sweet, and looked even better. “No, I suppose we didn’t.” I agreed. “This is my first year studying tech.” “Really?” I was insanely curious as a tech girl myself. He nodded. “My father believes that the old ways will need more innovative technological advances to prosper. I agreed with him and we decided that I would come here for technology.” “I think so too.” I admitted. He smiled, it seemed he was pleased with my answer. “What’s your major?” “Technology and computer science.” His eyes widened in surprise. I was aware of the fact that typically men did computer science in our world, it was why I was the only IT girl at Wulverson’s Tech. I couldn’t help that I found it fascinating, and I was good at it. I thirsted for more and more knowledge on the subject. “That sounds like a hefty load of work for you.” He smiled. “Attention students, old and new, welcome, or welcome back, to The Silverlight University!” A man’s voice boomed from the middle of the arena. A microphone was unnecessary with a crowd full of weres, but it didn’t stop him from using his wolf aura to boost his words. “I am Tremdall Varis, of the Summerlynn Pack, president of TSU. And this,” He gestured to his left. “Is our special guest, Serburi Borne, Alpha of Dragonmoon. He has some words for you all.” Many oohs and ahhs were heard from the crowd, and I couldn’t blame them. The Dragonmoon Pack was expansive in the region, I daresay the largest pack in the globe. A true king to the other packs of our society. To personally hear from the Dragonmoon alpha was phenomenal. It was like being with royalty, more so than other alphas, even my own family. Moonriver wasn’t a small pack by any means, but the name doesn’t strike the same kind of admiration or even fear, like Dragonmoon. He waved his hands for the crowd to quiet down. “Thank you, president Tremdall of Summerlynn. This year, the Borne family is donating 2 million in funds to increase STEM development. I have personally attended to this matter.” Cheers erupted throughout the stands, making Serburi wave his hands for silence again. “My interest in the technological advances for our society is no secret, so this is somewhat personal for me. I wish to bring us into the future with bright minds, and selfishly, would enjoy seeing my son prosper in his technology classes during his term for a Bachelor degree. Nicholas, please join me.” He gestured to where Nicholas was sitting next to me and my eyes widened at him. He winked at me before quickly going to his father’s side. “It is our great pleasure to announce that Nicholas Borne shares this vision for a brighter future where we work with the advancements rather than against them.” Whatever else Alpha Serburi said was lost in the ringing of my ears. Nicholas was the future alpha of Dragonmoon, and he was just casually sitting with me. I felt shaky on the inside, I couldn’t believe it. “Didn’t you know? It seemed like you knew him?” Allison whispered, leaning into me. She must have seen the complete and utter shock on my face. I felt like an idiot for not knowing, after all , I was from an alpha family. But I was so sheltered, as my parents never had any intention of me taking over as alpha. “His driver was the one who hit me. I only saw him once, in the hospital. He stayed to make sure that I was ok and then I never saw him again until today.” “Well, he isn’t the only one who has noticed that you are here now.” I furrowed my brows. “What do you mean?” She giggled and leaned closer. “Riley hasn’t stopped looking at you since Nicholas got up, and boy does he look pissed.” I spared a quick glance to where I had seen him and Aleah sit down. He did indeed look pissed. Could I dare think he may be jealous that I was sitting with Nicholas? I suppressed a smile and looked back to the middle of the arena where Nicholas and his father stood. He looked at me intently, sending butterflies in my stomach. I had no business crushing on Nick, I had to remain impassive. I had a goal here for my future, and a sexy alpha to be was not something I should be worried about. I raised my chin a notch making Nicholas smirk just a bit. When his father was done speaking and nodded for Tremdall to finish speaking, Nicholas returned to his spot next to me confidently. The students who were sitting around us moved back just a bit after learning who he was, as though they wanted his regal air to be untouched. I had an urge to move as well, though he seemed intent on my close proximity to him. I resigned to staying where I was and could feel numerous gazes on me, though I refused to spare them a glance. “You couldn’t have warned me that I would be scrutinized for sitting next to you?” I whispered to him, unable to help it. He smirked. “Wasn’t it more fun for you to find out like this?” “For you maybe.” I mumbled, making him smile broadly and giving my stomach flips. I hadn’t ever seen such a beautiful smile.Samantha“You’re a cheeky little shit, aren’t you?” I wrapped my hand around his neck and squeezed just a bit. I chuckled darkly. “Kill the rest, he’s going to help us get our property back. His eyes widened as the rest of his companions were slaughtered right in front of him. “I said—” he began to splutter, and I smacked him harshly.“You said your death would make the news public. You are alive. And do you honestly believe I would let these little friends of yours live, knowing what they know?” I scoffed, “I’m not daft.”“How do I know you won’t kill me and my other friend the moment you have Lykanthrope?”“You don’t. As it is, we need a test subject, and we have a deal. I don’t go back on my word.” I pushed him back as I let my hand drop from his throat. “Now, let us go find your special friend.”As it happened, his friend was nearby. Within walking distance even. ‘I think enough tweaks with Lykanthrope could force loyalty from anyone.’ Ansel mind linked me.‘He’s right, a couple
SamanthaIt was silent when we reached the abandoned factory, eerie. It didn’t bother me though, I would kill every last one of them if I needed to in order to get the schematics of Lykanthrope back. Sting was the absolute worst group to have access to something of this magnitude. All of Silverclaw was with me, as well as our sworn Barriers and 8 warriors that had shown the most promising growth since our retreat in Apalachicola. Draegon, Ashton, Venus, Stevie, Jeverah, Allen, Pope, and Thella. After the fiasco with her brother, Jeverah made many strides to prove herself loyal, and became stronger.Ashton, under Carlton’s wing, had gotten better since then also, and tonight, he was being tested. They all were. The evening sky was dancing with its colors, marking the end of the day. I had hoped Sting would be winding down, ending their day.The fact that some of their men were captured, meant I had little time before they attempted to move their location, or dispose of my property. I w
SamanthaIt was moments before the cameras would begin rolling as we announced our global transition. My nerves were rolling, Ansel was hot on the trail for the Sting group, working closely with the police investigation, and I was sure we would have information soon. Though it didn’t stop my mind from wandering to what they may or may not have figured out about Lykanthrope. As Angel instructed, and Damon, I was presenting a solid face for my position as the reporters got ready. We stood in front of Silverclaw Enterprise headquarters at the top of the staircase. Carlton and Daniel were with Ansel, so it was me, Damon, Angel, and Vienna. There was a ribbon to be cut in front of us, and a very large audience. Being mindful of the fact that not only werewolves would see the broadcast, we ensured our words would fit with human society. And we certainly made technological advances for humans as well so we did not draw attention.Elixir 2.0 was our main focus for this though. “Thank you a
Samantha“Sex?” Nick’s voice was even more confused than when we had begun.“When you take the Silverclaw oath, and name the family as yours, you have a very strong desire to be with Samantha, and her you.” Angel explained. “We had no idea at the time, she was messing with some chemicals and tech, managed to change her blood, even her very core. A blood oath was to give me similar abilities, and it did…but it did more than that.”Each of the Silverclaw members chuckled at Nick’s expression. He looked at Damon and Carlton. “But you’re both gay.”“Oh not for the first week after we became Silverclaw honey.” Damon answered and we all began laughing some more.“Even though you had mates?” Nick’s eyes were incredulous. “You brought them that pain of…of the betrayal?” He tried wrapping his mind around the concept, we could all tell.“That doesn’t happen with this.” Daniel took up the explanation. “After the bloodletting part of the oath, we actually become a more unified being. Our minds me
SamanthaCarlton laughed and slapped Nick on the back. “It’s quite a bit more than just a blood oath buddy.”“So I’ve heard.” Nick answered wryly. “And seen.” He looked at me pointedly.I sighed. He really wasn’t going to let this go.“Bro, you haven’t seen anything yet.” Ansel took another swig of his beer before continuing. “Silverclaw isn’t your typical wolf, on a larger scale than you think.”“Then tell me. What’s the big secret? What makes you guys so close and so special? You guys are closer to each other and to Samantha than anyone else, even though you have mates, I can see you’re each bonded closely. Especially to Sam.”Vienna looked uneasily around at everyone. “Nick, this isn’t something we can talk about here.” Her voice was hushed. “Becoming Silverclaw and its ins and outs are saved for a discussion with those we seriously consider allowing to join. If they choose that it isn’t worth it, they are turned away with the assurance they speak to no one about what it entails.”
SamanthaNick’s words stunned me into silence as I looked him in the eye. My world seemed to spin. How could he want to be Silverclaw?“Nick…you would have to denounce Dragonmoon…you’d never be the alpha of your pack. You’ve been groomed to take it over by Serburi.”“I know all of that. But you’re more of an alpha than I ever was Samantha. Silverclaw is important to me, I love you as much as the rest of your Silverclaw family.”“Nick, you don’t understand what you’re asking. Not really. Becoming Silverclaw changes us…” I faltered for the words to say. There were so many things that came with taking on the blood oath, much different than anyone could experience with any other oath bond.“Alpha,” Draegon came up to me and Nick before Nick could reply. He bowed deeply. “May I have this dance?”During my conversation with Nick, the music had taken a bit of a slower turn, in my eagerness to stop the conversation with Nick I agreed. Setting my beer on the table nearest to me, I let Draegon
