ログインJane's POV
Alpha Liam’s office was nothing like Theo’s.
Theo’s space is usually neat, minimalistic, modern, and cold in a way that reflects his personality. But everything had its place. The books are lined in perfect rows, the surfaces are usually spotless, and the whole room smelled faintly of his favourite diffuser and his not so strong control.
But Alpha Liam’s office was absolutely different. It was chaos dressed in his shadows. Old books spilled from every shelf, some stacked so dangerously they looked like they were waiting for the slightest touch to help them collapse.
Papers littered the floor. His desk, if you could still call it that, was a battlefield of scrolls, open books, scattered pens, and maps curled at the corners. There wasn’t even enough space to rest a single cup of coffee.
His face was the last thing I looked at and there was him. He wasn’t what I expected. He wasn’t commanding or rigid like he usually was. His shirt was half unbuttoned, revealing a glimpse of his chest, revealing some of his tattoos.
And his hair was a mess like he had run his hands through it a hundred times. Even his eyes had dark shadows under them, his expression was weary, more like haunted.
I could tell that aside from the pain, something else tightened in his chest. The initial fear I had began to melt into something softer. Something like worry and concern.
"Come over here, Jane," he said, his voice bored but heavy.
I stepped forward, carefully balancing the tray in my hands. My fingers trembled slightly but I managed to stay still. “Is everything alright, Alpha Liam?” I asked, barely above a whisper.
He looked at me like I had overstepped, like I had no right to question anything about him. Maybe I should have stayed silent. Why am I even concerned about him when he had never been gentle with me. But still… I couldn’t help it.
“Will you hold on to the coffee until the end of the day?” he asked, his tone sharp as he stared at the tray in my hands.
“Oh—” I blinked, flustered. “The coffee,” I stammered, shifting awkwardly. I looked at his desk, realizing there was no way to put the tray down on that same desk. “There’s no space on your table, Alpha Liam.”
“Then create it, Jane,” he said, eyes narrowing slightly. “And create more for yourself too.”
More for myself? I didn’t even know what that meant, but I obeyed.
I spotted a cupboard tucked near the wall. I gently set the tray down, and returned to his desk. I began to clear it, moving books and scattered documents aside, my back turned to him.
Then, without warning, his strong hands wrapped around my waist. I gasped as he pulled me backward, and I landed on his lap with a quiet thud. My body stiffened instantly, heat rushing to my cheeks. I felt him, hard beneath me. I didn’t dare move.
His arms stayed firm around me, holding me in place. It was not rough, but not tender either. Just in a claiming way.
“Have you always been an attention seeker?” he whispered against my ear, his voice low and dangerously smooth.
The sound of it made my skin tingle and made my thoughts stutter.
“I… I don’t understand you,” I whispered.
“Why did you fall into Caleb’s hands?” he asked next, his tone turning darker.
So that man from earlier, his name is Caleb. Now that I know his name, I should know more about him.
Instead of answering, I foolishly followed my own curiosity.
“Who is Caleb to you?” I asked.
It was as if alpha Liam stopped breathing. He stilled, like everything went still. The air, the room, even the beat of time.
A growl rumbled softly from his chest. Low but threatening. “What did I say about asking me questions?” he said through clenched teeth.
“I just wanted to know who he is,” I said, trying not to sound afraid, though my voice trembled.
“You find pleasure in disobeying me, Jane,” he said, tightening his grip once more before releasing me.
“I'm sorry,” I whispered quickly.
“Save it for next time,” he replied, and gently pushed me off his lap.
He rose to his feet without looking at me and walked to a tall cabinet in the far corner of the room. I turned curiously, brushing invisible dust from my skirt as I watched him.
The way he moved was slow, deliberate and it made my pulse quicken. He opened the cabinet and reached inside. When he turned back to me, my breath caught in my throat.
I blinked in shock as I saw the last thing I expected to see.
A whip.
A long black wipe with many tails. The head was coiled in his hand like a serpent waiting to strike.
My body tensed as I stared at him and the instrument of punishment in his hand.
Was this it? Was this how it would end? Would I really get punished for asking him questions?
A smirk played on his lips. Not a cruel smirk. Not like Theo’s used to be. This one was something else. Dangerous, yes. But it was laced with something deeper. Something wickedly playful.
“Relax,” he said, walking back toward me, the whip swaying gently at his side. “It’s not for what you think.”
I swallowed hard, my back involuntarily pressing against the edge of the cluttered desk.
He lifted the whip slowly and traced the end of it along my bare arm.
A soft gasp escaped my lips as the leather kissed my skin softly. It was tickling, just enough to raise goosebumps all over my skin. He dragged it up to my shoulder, across my collarbone, then down again, slow and intentional.
“You fear it,” he said softly, “but you don't fear me enough.”
My cheeks burned. I didn’t know what to say. I wasn’t even sure I could speak.
He moved closer, his breath brushing my temple. “I don’t hurt those I want to keep, Jane. But I do like to know where their limits are.”
Is this man kidding me? Who in their normal sense brings out a whip of many heads to check something?
The whip slid down my side, coiling around his hand again. “I just wanted to see something,” he murmured, stepping back. “And now I have.”
“Make sure to keep your curiosity in check and don't forget to keep Caleb's name out of your mouth.”
With that, he turned away, as if nothing had happened.
Jane “You are a curse in human form,” his words were still ringing in my head as I sat on the edge of my bed. Night came so fast and I was supposed to go to him. But I couldn’t go, not after what he said. He wants me to stay away from him after telling me I was his pain relief. What kind of a weirdo was he? He called me a curse. His words clutched my chest tightly. If he saw me as a curse, why did he buy me from Alpha Theo? Why did he refer to me as his pain relief? When I thought I was starting to understand him, he insulted me and pushed me away. So I've decided not to go to him tonight. He can't push me away and expect me to draw to him again. Never. He might have bought me and save me from disgrace but his insults are more than I can bear. Lost in my thoughts, I didn’t expect the door to burst open. But it did. And the worst part was Alpha Liam strode in like a storm, his eyes blazing.“You didn’t come,” he said simply, like he couldn’t quite believe it.Shocked to see him,
JaneAs I walked through the hallway, my mind drifted to the old book I found in Alpha Liam's study. That book had something I should know. The way I reacted to that book was not ordinary. The way it seemed to hum in my veins. I needed to see it again. I needed to understand why it felt like a part of me. It could answer my questions, if not all of them. With determination, I went to his study again. I shouldn't have gone back there. But something kept pulling me there. I don't know if it was curiosity or a supernatural connection. The door creaked as I stepped inside. The scent of him still lingered in the air, strong with something darker. It felt like a warning but I didn't adhere to it. Instead, I moved swiftly. I moved toward the shelf where I’d first seen the burnt book, my fingers trembling as I reached for the stack. I searched through the first stack, then the second and found nothing. “It should be here,” I told myself as I searched through it again. “Looking for somet
JaneAs I stirred awake, I looked around me as the memories of last night flooded my mind. Alpha Liam! I jumped up to see him but to my greatest disappointment, I woke up alone.I was on the bed and the sheets beside me were cold. His scent lingered faintly in the air but the alpha was nowhere to be found.A sudden tightness gripped my chest. I wanted to know if he slept well. To know if his pain had relieved him. To hold him this morning if he still needed me to. But he left. He left before I woke up. I got up slowly, pulled on my dress, and stepped into the hallway. Because he didn't wake up beside me doesn't mean I can't check up on him in his room. So with determination, I went to his room. Another wave of disappointment washed over me when I got there. His room was empty, the fireplace was dying. Where would he be this morning?Maybe his study.I turned and made my way to his study, hoping he’d be there buried in books. But he wasn't there either. Where was he? I wondered as
Alpha Liam's POV I woke before the sun did. Even before the birds started singing. Before anyone in the castle stirs awake. The room was still as I turned to the person beside me. Last night's event flooded my mind like a wave. My heart ache started, I dragged myself to Jane's room, I kissed her and slept beside her. Despite the storm in my mind, the room was too quiet. If not for the sound of her soft breathing beside me, I wouldn't have believed that last night happened. She was curled beside me, her head resting near my chest, her hand lightly over my shirt, as if it belonged there. And the most unsettling part was that it felt like it did. My heart, the most traitorous thing, beat more steadily than it had in months. The ache that usually clawed at my ribs during the night was gone. It was silenced all because she had touched and held me.I can't believe that I crawled back to her after doing everything in my power to stay away. I don't know why things just end up the way I d
Jane's POV I thought the dream had ended until something gripped my leg.It was hard and desperate. Tight enough to take me from the dream world to the real world. I jolted upright, screaming as my heart was still racing from the dream and the grip.As I opened my eyes, it was no longer smoke or fire that surrounded me. It was darkness. Real and heavy darkness. The type that blind your eyes and heart at once. Quickly, I turned on the lamp beside my bed. And there, at the edge of my bed, was a figure. My breath stopped as I saw Alpha Liam. He was on his knees, clutching my leg like an anchor, his face masked with pain. His whole body trembled slightly, and his muscles became tense. One of his arms was wrapped tightly around his chest, the other grasping my thigh as if I was the only thing keeping him grounded.“Jane,” he said, groaning. The low, ragged sounds pulled from his throat scared the hell out of me. The way his head hung down, the way he clutched his chest reminded me of
Jane's POV I stood in front of Alpha Liam’s door, my hand hovering over the handle. Should I go in? Would he want to see me after chasing me out like a dog? Was I ready to face him? To be honest, I was mad at him for yelling at me. One minute, he is normal, the next, he is abnormal. He acts like someone with bipolar issues. I turned the handle and stepped inside, bracing myself for whatever happens. He was already sitting on the edge of the bed, shirt half-buttoned, hair still damp from a shower. His eyes were on me the second I entered. Surprisingly, it was not cold or dark. It was like he was waiting for me to come.“I'm here to sleep with you,” I said without thinking. He patted the space beside him. “Sit.”Now he wants me to sit beside him. What is going on with this man? Did carrying the weight of a pack cause him to have a twisted brain?I hesitated for just a moment, then crossed the room and sat beside him, not too close, but close enough to feel the heat radiating from hi
