Chapter Forty Nine

NOLA

The Lycan was way too quiet for whatever was happening to have been a prank.

”Maybe another entrance?” One of the guards murmured and the heavy grate of the iron bars rolled upwards noisily just as the words fell from his lips so that I watched as the workers threw surprised looks at each other.

”Eyes peeled, something’s not right here.” Hector breathed, before barreling head-first through the gates, his white-blonde head of hair brushing so close to the jagged nails of the mouth of the gate that I quite feared the iron bars would come down on his head with a vengeance.

“Eyes peeled bitch! If you can keep them off the King.” Sarah spat caustically, her voice low and dripping with malice I hadn’t believed her capable of as she sauntered past, the full girth of her hips sashaying after I'd whipped my head to face her retreating backside.
