Chapter One hundred and Four

Japhtar

I had flown toward the king like I was god’s vengeance to the stone city, the uneven jang of my heartbeat sputtering and stopping as I connected lightly with his cheek, my clenched claws brushing over the sinew of muscle I’d torn earlier before I reared back, annoyed.

What was this? Freaking tag?

“Playing games now are you? Aren't you too old for tricks daddy?” I spat acidly, dancing away from the silent beast who squared up with one hind foot testing the space between us.

It was unnerving. The calmness that had taken over him the minute the moon came out. I had to act fast, faster than I had planned to.

”There’s still time for you to turn back Japhtar.” My father’s calm warning came only seconds before he dashed toward me, swinging with lightning speed and I transferred my life source from the now-dead beating in my chest to my clenched fist, back-handing the Lycan who went flying into the rubble of his City’s stones.
