ANWEN'S POV

Brammon’s hands clamped around my ankles, yanking me to the edge of the sleeping pallet. He pulled me toward both him and Rhydan, then knelt.

Fenric was kneeling behind me as well, his muscular abdomen pressed against my back, both supporting me and holding me in place at the same time.

Without warning, Brammon forced my legs open.

“No!” I shrieked, horror sending me bolt upright.

I tried to close them, but Fenric’s hands gripped my knees, holding them spread wide for the others to

  • Bride of the Beasts   Chapter 68: Caught in the Dark

ANWEN'S POVA howl stirred me from sleep. Fenric's howl.It wasn't the volume that woke me. Nor the way it clawed at the fortress walls, scraping painfully through my ears. This howl was different. It wasn't filled with rage. It was filled with pain. With grief. It pierced straight through my heart, threading itself between my ribs like a desperate plea. And somehow, impossibly, it felt as though Fenric was calling for me.My eyes fluttered open.Darkness still cloaked the chamber, broken only by moonlight spilling through the windows and the open balcony doors.I couldn't have been asleep for long. The lingering warmth on my skin, where Brammon and Rhydan had touched me, was proof enough. My body still hummed with a pleasant soreness from earlier. And the damp, pulsing memory of the pleasure they had so expertly coaxed from me remained between my legs.Brammon's arm lay heavily across the mattress behind me. Rhydan rested on my other side, his breathing slow and even. Both of them w

  • Bride of the Beasts   Chapter 67: Forked

ANWEN'S POVI took a deep breath and crawled toward Rhydan. The furs scraped my sensitized knees, my punished backside stinging with every movement, but I barely registered the discomfort. I knelt before him, looking up through my lashes, my throat tight with uncertainty.I swallowed hard, then reached for the laces of his trousers—already loosened, I realized, already waiting for me. My fingers fumbled only slightly as I worked them free, pulling the fabric down, down...He sprang free, heavy and veined, bobbing slightly with his pulse.I wrapped my hand around the base, marveling at the heat, the silken steel of him. A few clumsy strokes drew a sharp exhale from above. Emboldened, I leaned forward and took him into my mouth. He tasted of salt and musk and something uniquely Rhydan—smoke and embers. His grunt was guttural, involuntary, and behind me, Brammon groaned his approval. I took him deeper, relaxing my throat, moving faster, my head bobbing as I sought to draw out more of th

  • Bride of the Beasts   Chapter 66: Convincing Rhydan

ANWEN'S POVMy skin warmed, and it had nothing to do with Rhydan's heat radiating beside me.I opened my mouth to speak, but my throat had suddenly gone dry, and no sound came out. Then Brammon's gruff voice curled too close to my ear."I'm waiting for an answer, Anwen." His breath stirred the fine hairs at my temple. "Do you want us to distract you?"And as if to remind me precisely what that "distraction" entailed, he dragged his tongue along the shell of my ear. My thoughts scattered like startled birds, my brain tangling around the sensation, the texture of him, until I was gasping out the word before I could stop myself."Yes."Brammon chuckled, dark and satisfied. His hand found the hem of my nightgown, hiking it up with agonizing slowness, his palm skimming the inside of my thigh. My toes curled instantly, my back arching off the furs beneath me."I would love to," he murmured. Then he stopped. His hand halted just before the aching flesh that cried out for his touch, hovering

  • Bride of the Beasts   Chapter 65: Where I Was Safest

ANWEN'S POVFenric took my hand, then glanced at Rhydan and Brammon. “I’m taking her back home,” he announced. We had barely taken a single step when Rhydan moved in front of us, blocking the path entirely. His hand closed firmly around my other hand.“No,” Rhydan said. “I’m flying her back.”The air immediately grew heavier.Fenric’s expression darkened, his grip tightening around me. “She came here with me,” he said, his eyes never leaving Rhydan’s. “So she’s leaving with me.”For several long seconds, no one spoke. No one moved.Their auras pressed against each other—and against me—like colliding storms. I could feel the silent tug-of-war between them, each refusing to yield an inch.My pulse quickened.I wanted to pull free of their grips. Whatever was happening between them, I was caught in the middle of it. But I was afraid that one wrong move would spark another fight.Thankfully, Brammon intervened before either of them could push things any further.“Anwen should travel with

  • Bride of the Beasts   Chapter 64: Toward Her

RHYDAN'S POVThe moment Anwen's distress hit the air, everything stopped. Our clash of power, the contest for dominance, the instinctive need to keep score—all of it vanished the instant we caught the scent of her fear.Across the arena, all three of us turned toward the same place.Toward her.Anwen sat curled in on herself in the bleachers, her face buried against her knees. Even from that distance, I could see her shoulders trembling. I could hear her whisper, begging us to stop. The sight twisted something sharp and unpleasant in my chest. In an instant, Fenric moved. As always, he was the first to react when it came to Anwen—just as he had been the one to start this whole spectacle the moment we sensed her presence. The fool was desperate to show off. Brammon was no different, despite his constant claims that he wasn't nearly as infatuated with her as Fenric was.Fenric's body exploded into motion as he shifted fully into his lycan form. Then he launched himself toward the bleach

  • Bride of the Beasts   Chapter 63: The Kings' Display

ANWEN'S POVCorbin didn't slow, not even as the snow deepened beneath our boots.More than once, I had to half-jog to keep pace with him. To my surprise, though, my legs held up.Perhaps all those long morning walks around Blackreach had done more for me than I'd realized.Even so, we had been walking for quite some time. Long enough for curiosity to finally get the better of me. I opened my mouth to ask where exactly we were going when a distant roar rolled across the plateau.Voices. Hundreds of them. They were shouting. Cheering. Jeering. A few steps more and the structure came into view.It rose from the snow-covered landscape, unlike anything else I had seen in the camp.Massive stone walls formed a broad circular structure that dominated the surrounding terrain. Tiered rows climbed upward along its perimeter, while banners snapped in the wind from poles mounted high above. Wide archways opened into the interior, and through them flowed a constant stream of movement and noise.E

  • Bride of the Beasts   Chapter 56: Theirs

ANWEN'S POVI didn't remember the walk back to the quarters. I didn't remember crossing the room in Fenric's arms, or being lowered onto the bed.The next thing I knew, a soft mattress pressed against my back. Before I could draw a single breath, his mouth crashed into mine—possessive, demanding. I

  • Bride of the Beasts   Chapter 55: Searching for Him

ANWEN'S POVIt turned out I had been far more exhausted than I realized. As soon as I pressed my face against Fenric's chest and breathed in the faint scent of sandalwood, the world seemed to drift away.I didn't remember falling asleep. I only remembered opening my eyes later to find sunlight spil

  • Bride of the Beasts   Chapter 54: Arrival at the Camp

ANWEN'S POVFenric crouched so I could slide from his back, my legs unsteady after the long ride south of Blackreach. The air was colder here, just as Brammon had warned, carrying the scent of pine and distant snow. When I lifted my gaze, the sheer scale of the military camp stole the breath from m

  • Bride of the Beasts   Chapter 53: Tension in the Room

ANWEN'S POVI nearly fell out of my chair at Fenric's announcement. So this was what he had meant earlier when he'd said we had a "big day ahead."I had assumed he was talking about another task. Another tour through some forgotten corner of Blackreach. Or perhaps a lesson on records, ledgers, and
