Chapter 1

Elena woke up with her head throbbing. It was like she was hit by a truck and the heaviness of her head made her feel like she had drunk too much the night before. She tried to sit up, but her head wouldn’t let her. It was so painful, and she didn’t remember ever feeling the way she did at that moment. She laid back down and scanned the room they put her in.

She remembers what happened. She remembered very well how she ended up in that room. She might not remember who brought her there exactly. But she knew those monsters captured her and brought her there.

She had a pretty good idea where she was. She turned her head and scanned the room. It was small and looked like the servant’s quarters back in her pack. Her pack. She wondered if she can still call it that after what her alpha said to her. She was angry at that man; her parents were loyal to him and yet he left them to fend for themselves along with others while he hid in his pack house. The one who was supposed to protect all of them was hiding away with his Luna. While his pack members died.

She risked her life fighting for him and he let so many people, including her parents, die,d and for what? She sighed, shaking her head with her right hand on her forehead. She felt that if she placed her hand on her forehead, her head will stop throbbing. It was like someone was hammering away at her poor head, making it feel like it was going to spit in half.

There is not much in the room. It is just the small bed she was currently laying on, a small wardrobe sitting behind the door, and a small round table by the bed. No bathroom or nothing, just a basic room.

Her mind drifts back to her alpha’s words. “You are beautiful. He will be taken by you. Kill him during the mating and rid us of him.” It's like he wanted her to be taken in the first place like he planned it or was betting on it so that she can get close enough to the monster to kill it. She wished alpha William was dead before, but the feeling was not as intense as it was at that moment. The monster killed her parents.

Back then, she just thought the world will be a better place without a monster like William. But now, she wanted him dead, and she wanted to do it herself. She swore she will avenge her parents and then go back for her alpha. Someone like him does not deserve to be an alpha, to have people protecting him while he does nothing to protect his people.

He does not deserve the loyalty of the people in that pack. He did not deserve her parents’ loyalty or hers. But the time will come when he pays for it. But first, she must get rid of alpha Williams.

The days seemed to go on longer in that room. It was the third day being there, and she only gets to see the sun through the window. The servants came and brought her food, then take her to the bathroom and back. There was no one watching the door of the room. The monster knows that even if she tried to escape, she will not get far.

But she was not planning to escape. She was there to kill the asshole. He was keeping her fed, but they have not given her a chance to bathe in the three days she has been there. She smelled horrible and had dried blood all over her. She needed a bath, but she would not ask. She believed he was going to grant her a bath when he was good and ready. The pig has also not shown his face as yet and Elena hoped he would soon, but first, she needed a weapon.

She knew she cannot just kill him; he was stronger and faster. He is an alpha and would kill her without blinking if he even suspects that she was trying to kill him. Right on queue, the door opens, and two servants go inside her room. One holding a plate of food and another a cart with more plates on it. They do not talk but hand her a plate, then stand at the door and gossip.

She takes the plate and starts eating. Just as she finishes, she purposefully drops the plate, and it breaks upon contacting the tiled floor. “Am sorry, I will clean up.” She quickly says to the servers when they turned to look at her. When they were not looking, she quickly shoves a piece of the plate under the bed and gathers the rest.

The servant went to her holding a dustpan and drops it in front of her. She puts the pieces in the dustpan and wipes her hands on her already dirty clothes. “Am sorry,” She says to her as she gives her the dustpan and moves back. “Don’t let it happen again.” The servant girl tells her as she takes the dustpan and Elena nods at her.

When they leave and close the door behind them. She waits to hear the curt moving away from her door before rushing to kneel in front of the bed to look for the glass. She finds it and takes it. She examines the glass; it was not big, but it had to be enough to do the job. It was all she had. She extracted her claws and ripped a piece of her shirt then wrapped it around the glass so that she can hold it properly and without cutting herself, but it needed to be sharpened.

She looked around the room and found nothing that can help her with the sharpening of the glass. Then the walls, are concrete but if she sharpened it on the wall; they were bound to see the scratches and she would be found out before she had time to kill that man. The paint on the walls was dark green, so it was going to show. She pulled the bed, and it made a noise that made her cringe and pause her actions. She listened to hear if someone was coming, but when she heard nothing, she pulled it again, but a little quieter this time around.

She laid on her stomach on the bed and started sharpening the glass on the wall right below the bed where it won’t show. It left white marks on the dark walls. It would have shown had she sharpened it higher. She works on it until her arms are tired, then she took a break.

There has been a lot of noise out there, laughter and singing. The bastards were celebrating their victory while she was busy grieving the loss of her parents.

She swore on the Goddess that they were all going to pay for everything they have done. She still couldn’t believe that she will never see her sweet mother again, feel her warm hugs or eat her blueberry pie again.

See her warm smile and hear her sweet laughter. A lone tear escapes her eye as she thought of her mother. She let the tear roll down her cheek until it drops to her chest. She never got to say goodbye or bury her. Her father, oh, how she loved her father. He pushed her hard, even though she was a girl.

When her mother would complain about that when she came back with bruises from training. He would tell her, “She must train and learn to defend herself Charise, we won't always be around to protect her, so she must learn to defend herself.” Her mother would pout and pull her to the bathroom and clean her up.

She did that every day after training since she started training at twelve years. Her father would always shake his head but say nothing. Every day when they went out to training, he would say. “I am doing this for you, baby girl. I never want you to feel helpless. Daddy always wants you to take care of yourself.”

It was like he knew a day like this will come when no one would be around to protect her and that she will have to protect herself. She looked up and whispered. “Thanks, daddy.” She swore she was going to avenge them even if she died trying. She yawned, feeling tired, and she pushed the bed back into place, then hid her weapon under the mattress, and then lay properly on the bed.

She knew it was late when she laid down, but she did not know what time of night it was. But around this time, cleaning servants would walk around, this time cleaning the hallways and gossiping with each other. Usually, she would sleep after they leave, it was quiet then. She closed her eyes and listened. She could hear the cart being pushed and some giggling.

They had arrived. She listened to them as they slowly got closer and closer to her room cleaning. She could smell the chemicals. They were close, two or three doors down. She waits and listens. She was trying to learn the routine of the place and what she will have to do to escape after killing their alpha. Elena knew they won't just let her walk out of there after killing him.

They were now in front of her door and, as usual, gossiping as any other servant does. But today something they say has her wolf on edge and she listened closely. “Why is it that young master never attends these mating ceremonies?” one asks, and Elena sits up and listens.

“Who would enjoy attending these things every two months? Besides, the young master is against all this. He does not like what his father is doing, but what can he do? His father is the alpha and can do whatever he wants.” The other answered as they moved along. Elena’s wolf was on edge and making her restless.
