Broken But Undefeated
Author: Lady Tamia

Prologue

Alpha William of the Blood Moon pack. The name alone made many tremble in fear. The man was known for his brutality, thirst for blood, and beautiful women. Since the death of his mate, in questionable ways. The man has been nothing but brutal, bloodthirsty, and has this thing for beautiful women like his mate held him back from bedding them. But now that she was gone.

The man had all the time in the world to bed any beautiful woman he wanted. This, of course, infuriated his son, Jake. Alpha William has been terrorizing packs for years now, killing innocent, the pack's alphas and taking what he wanted by force. This day was no different. His pack was at the Golden Moon Pack’s border, ready to spill blood.

He and his warriors were already bloodied from killing the warriors at the border.  “Crush them all! Charge and kill those ants!” bellowed alpha William through the mind link, giving a long-awaited command to his warriors.

Their paws and feet thundered on the ground as they swam the enemy pack territory like bees ready to attack. The ruthless alpha stood at the back, watching his warriors as they marched forward. He stood in all his glory with fur black as the night that it shined under the moonlight.

So huge that one could mistake him for a bear at first glance. He looked upon the moon as if asking for blessings, then howled, letting his enemy know he has arrived. When he was done with the howl, he ran to catch up with his warriors, and when he was close; he stood firm on the ground, balancing himself like a cat.

He then let out his signature growl. It was so loud and powerful that small animals in the forest ran and hid. The trees shook, and the enemy knew he had arrived.

Cold sweat gathered on the forehead of the Golden Moon alpha as he cowered inside his pack house, praying to the Goddess that the warriors outside will hold the ruthless alpha off. But it was unlikely.

Elena, a she-wolf, and a skilled warrior, was one of those that were guarding the packhouse to keep their alpha and Luna safe. They knew that if they were killed, then they will all become rogues. They knew that eventually, alpha Willian was going to come for their pack, and they put measures in place to protect themselves.

But judging from the howls that were getting closer and closer, they feared that their strategy was no match for the animals that were coming for them. Elena’s heart was beating like an African drum in her chest, and she could tell how close the perpetrators were to her home. She knew then that her family was not safe.

Her heart broke at the thought of them dying. Shrieks were heard from she-wolves and cries from children not so far from the packhouse. While still listening to those horrible cries, she felt the bond between her and her parents cut painfully, and she knew they had died. There was no time for her to grieve their deaths as the intruders appeared in their line of view.

Elena took her fighting stance, ready to defend her pack and leaders. This was her first time being in a real battle besides training. She was a skilled warrior, but there has never been a need for her to fight in real battle until now. No one could have ever prepared her for the real battle. In training, they try to teach them and tell them all about the battle, but it was never close to what she was seeing now.

The wolves in front of her had cold eyes, an aura of death around them, and they killed without mercy. The intruders soon attacked, and Elena lunged at one and started fighting. She was quick to get the upper hand on her opponent because she has not killed before. She would hesitate before ripping their throats off.

She was skilfully fighting one wolf after another and could see her pack warriors falling one by one in the hands of these animals, and that made her fight even harder. The front of the packhouse was soon soaked with blood and decorated with dead bodies. A sight she knew will keep her awake for many nights to come.

A mind link came through to Elena while she was fighting off yet another intruder. “He likes beautiful women; I am sure he is going to be taken by you. Kill him during the mating and rid us of him.” The mind link was from her alpha. Elena did not want to be taken by alpha William.

She knew no woman lasted longer than a month or two with him and she did not want to die. At least not that way. That made Elena fight harder and more viciously. After killing one warrior, another appeared or two would attack at the same time.

She fought well and was drenched in the blood of her enemies. But the one that came next seemed young. Fearless but young nonetheless, he was skilled but was no match for a skilled warrior like Elena. She fought him and had him by the neck in no time, ready to rip his throat off, but of course; she hesitated.

During that time, someone knocked her on the back of her head, and she fell to the ground. Her hand went to the back of her head to feel the gush and wetness caused by the blood coming from it. She tried getting up, but her head felt heavy and her eyes refusing to see properly. She opened and closed them to clear her vision, but it was futile.

Soon black dots fill her vision and before passing out she heard someone say. “Woo! This one is a beauty! It would be a waste if she died here. Let us take her with us.”
