Chapter Five

Who I had wanted to start a family with.

She hadn’t wanted that with me. My wolf wasn’t really mad about this. He knew that somewhere out there our mate was still waiting for us to find her.

I was upset, her words had hurt but not as much as seeing her sitting in my Alpha’s lap. His hand resting on her bare thigh as she whispered in his ear. How she had smiled at me when our eyes met.

After I’d seen them, I had headed to my truck, making a quick phone call to one of my good friends. Where I’d become an architect, he’d become the owner of a chain of hotels.

The wind ruffled my hair as I drove down the highway, the windows down on my truck. Rock music blaring as I tried to forget about Lena.

Derrick had already arranged for me to sleep in one of his best suites. With the promise of a fully stocked liquor cabinet and a special surprise.

I hoped it wasn’t an escort again. The last time he’d done that I’d felt mortified, handing the curvy woman an extra hundred as I’d looked away, sending her from my room. My tastes weren’t easily matched by someone who I couldn’t tame.

I wanted to get shitfaced drunk and forget that Lena ever existed. Forget that I’d thought that I loved her. That I’d been willing to forget about finding my mate just to be with her.

Turning down the radio, I looked out on the water as I drove. The sounds of the sea soothing me, reminding me of nights spent on the beach with my friends. Bonfires and booze, laughing while Conrad had played his guitar. Before he’d found his mate, back when we’d all been mostly single.

I’d wanted to bring Lena here, but I’d never had the chance.

The hotel came into view and I pushed that thought from my mind as I took in its towering height. Derrick had done well for himself and his family. I’d heard rumors that he’d found his mate, but I didn’t know if it was true.

I never thought I’d see the day when he settled down with anyone more than a quick fling. He wasn’t like me, I needed so much more. I needed someone who needed me.

Would let me dominate them, tame them. There would be no sex without that for me. I didn’t do flings.

Parking my truck, I grabbed my bag before opening the door and hopping out. The night air was cool against my skin, soothing my heated flesh as I walked towards the hotel.

My wolf was on edge, I didn’t know if it was because of what had happened today or because the full moon was getting closer.

Pulling out my phone, I swiped the screen open, looking at my newest text.

Derrick: I’m at the bar.

I closed the phone, shoving it into my back pocket as I slung my bag over my shoulder. My friend knew that I needed a drink. Well, a dozen of them or so.

I walked through the mostly empty lobby. It wasn’t my first time through here, and I always felt slightly out of place. I’d stayed in plenty of nice hotels for business, but the feeling of being less than enough never went away.

No matter how hard I worked, how much I earned. I’d still be the kid in ripped up jeans and off brand sneakers.

“Dom, over here.” Derrick called out as I walked into the bar. The low lighting was nice. Casting the room in shadows, soft music played through carefully hidden speakers as people sat tucked away chatting and drinking.

I smiled as I got closer to him, he looked just like he had when we were younger. The only thing that had changed was his scent.

He smelled of something almost, almost like a flower that was past its bloom on the edge of decaying. And something else I wasn’t prepared for. The crisp scent of another shifter.

“Derrick, I see the rumors are true.”

He tilted his head to the side, pulling his collar down, “You could say that.” A smile spread across his face as he lifted his tumbler full of brandy to his lips.

“Not just one mate, but two?” I asked, raising an eyebrow.

“What can I say?” He chuckled, tilting his head to the other side to show off a messy scare. “It wasn’t something planned, but I couldn’t take one without the other.”

My grin deepened as I slipped onto the barstool. Dropping my bag by my feet as I picked up the whiskey. Nodding my head in thanks as I took a sip. Enjoying the way the liquid burned as it traveled down my throat.

“I’m happy for you.”

“You’ll find your mate, bro.” He said, leaning against the bar signaling the bartender to pour me another. “Drink as much as you want, I’ll make sure you get to your room.”

“Alone?” I asked, pressing my lips together.

He looked back at me, his lips quirking into a half smile. “Yes, alone.”

“Okay.” I nodded as the bartender walked over to us, grabbing the whiskey. She refilled my drink before sitting the bottle in front of us.

Derrick shook his head, covering his drink when she went to pour him another brandy.

“So, tell me about these mates of yours.” I said.

“Oh, I think you’ll get a kick out of them when you meet them. Nevie is a bit of a handful, she’s almost more than I can handle and Talon, well. I’ll let you meet him.”

“Him, I didn’t know-”

“I didn’t either.” He chuckled, finishing off his drink.

I did the same and he refilled my drink. I hadn’t had anything to eat since early this morning, and that helped the alcohol numb me.

Once the bottle was finished and Derrick was done entertaining me with stories of his mates. He grabbed my bag, helping me get to my feet and into the elevator.

Chapter TwentyI undid the bottom tie of her top, then pulled the string behind her neck. She looked over her shoulder at me, her gray eyes wide. Already I could tell that the few bites she’d had were helping her. I pulled the shirt over her head, and she shoved her arms through the holes. “Keep eating, then I’m putting you to bed.”“Only if you plan to join me.” She said, giving me a look that made it hard to think of anything other than pinning her down and fucking her until she couldn’t move anymore. “No where else I want to be.” “Dom,” she said, turning away from me. “When I get home, I know what I’m going to do.”“What’s that?” I asked, wrapping my arms around her so her back was against my chest.“I’m going to move into Kane’s place and go back to work. You know, pick up the pieces.” I brushed her hair behind her shoulders, wrapping my arms around her waist. I wasn’t sure what to say to that. I didn’t like the jealousy that swelled up in the pit of my stomach. On the one han

Chapter NineteenI pulled her closer, tugging her swimsuit bottoms out of my way. I let go of her nipple, watching as she sank onto my dick. Sheathing me inside of her cunt. Her eyes slipped closed and she bit her lower lip. The shadows danced along her skin from the ocean breeze moving through the palm tree above us. She rolled her hips and I moved closer, taking her other nipple between my teeth and giving it a sharp tug before soothing it with my tongue. She rolled her hips in a circular motion and I groaned, releasing her nipple with a pop. Her eyes fluttered open and she worked herself on my dick. “Sarah, fuck me.” I growled and she did. Picking up the speed. The plastic creaking under her hands as she gripped the back of the lounger. I brought my hands up to her breasts, plucking at her hard nipples. Already I could feel the need to come moving up my spine. She drove me close to the edge of losing control faster than anyone I’d been with before.“Please,” she moaned.“Please

Chapter EighteenLeaning my head against his shoulder. “I wanted him to feel in control, so I put our apartment in his name. I pay for it, I loved him so much that I didn’t care.”“Sarah, you deserve to be loved. To have someone that will cherish you.”“I just wanted to make him happy.” I said, scrubbing at my eyes.“I know that you’ll find someone out there who wants you to be happy. Who will love you as you deserve to be loved. If I were with you, you’d never feel the way that he made you feel.” He chuckled, “I may collar you, so the rest of the world knows who you belong to. But you would be cherished. Free to flourish.”My heart beat faster at his words, that someone like him would want me. Want the world to know that I was his. “I don’t know if I could handle a collar.”He kissed my shoulder, “I don’t know, there is nothing sexier than a collar around a woman’s throat letting everyone know that she belongs to someone.” His lips moved lower and I tilted my head to the side. Could

Chapter SeventeenI leaned up kissing him, “There is a lot about me you don’t know.”His head tilted to the side, his finger twirling a damp strand of my hair as he looked down at me. “Was that my prize?”“You didn’t win.”“Neither did you.”“I don’t know about that, I got to kiss a very sexy guy.” “I think I’m the real winner.” Dom said, leaning closer to me. “Why is that?” “Because I get to kiss you.” His lips twitched as he moved down my body.“Dom, what are you-”“Kissing you.” He growled.“We’re in public.” My words were a rush as my heart pounded and I leaned up onto my elbows to look at him.“No one’s around.” He said, his fingers moving along the waistband of my swimsuit bottoms. “Dom.” I panted and he smirked up at me.Dom looked at me, lifting an eyebrow as he waited for me to say something. I didn’t instead; I watched as he leaned closer. His nostrils flaring, there was something so animalistic about him. About the way he seemed to hunt me down. He pressed his lips a

Chapter SixteenShe turned around and my mouth fell open, the bikini top pushed up her full breasts. Her skin bore love bites from last night, and my wolf wanted to howl in delight that we’d marked her in such a way. I wanted to claim her, to see my bite on that sweet spot low on her neck. “Swim with me?” She asked, turning towards the crystal blue water. Tossing my shirt onto the lounger, I all but tripped over my flip flops trying to follow her.***Sarah POV***The sand was warm between my toes as I ran towards the water. I’d never been to the beach before and seeing the ocean up this close was something I had always wanted. I stopped at the edge of the water, letting the waves splash up over my toes. It wasn't as cold as I'd thought it would be. “Sarah?” Dom asked, and I looked over my shoulder at him. “Never have I ever been to the beach.” I giggled and he grabbed my hand.“So this is another first that I’m getting to share with you?” Dom stepped closer to me, his hand coming

  • By the Sea   Chapter 15

Chapter Fifteen“Romance, the hallmark-er the better.” I blurted out, feeling my ears heat up. Her face lit up and I could see that my answer made her happy. “I write romance, I live for that happily ever after.”“That’s how the best stories end. How about after this we go for a walk on the beach, maybe go check out some touristy things?”“I’d like that.”Breakfast was had with some light conversation and I found the more that I talked to her, the more that I was starting to like Sarah. Once we were done eating, Sarah and I changed into swimsuits. She pulled the sundress back on before tying her hair up into a messy bun. Topping it off with a large pair of dark sunglasses. She pulled out a striped beach bag, “Did you need me to carry anything for you?”I grabbed some sunscreen from my bag, handing it to her. Our fingers brushed as she took the blue tube from my hand. I felt sparks move along my skin. She sucked in a breath and I looked up at her, my lips twitching into a smile.
