REAH'S POV
I came back to my seat, feeling down and weak from within. "What's wrong? Did he reject it again?" Even Fryster felt like something was wrong.
I nodded my head "He broke the cup again," I replied and he gasped. "I guess he doesn't really want me as his Secretary," I replied.
Fryster had a sad expression on his face as he shook his head "Could it be that you were recommended to him by someone?" He asked and my eyes twitched.
Thinking of recommendation, I was indeed recommended by someone but could it be the reason he hated me so much?
"I was recommended by Luna Bella, Alpha Xavier's mother," I replied and Fryster's eyes widened.
"You know Luna Bella?!" He seemed very shocked.
"Yes, quite well. She's like a mother to me," I replied sincerely and he closed his eyes.
"Then, You are the goddess of this company. To be loved by Luna Bella is to be loved by the moon goddess. You are so lucky!" Fryster had totally forgotten about what we were talking about, he had forgotten about the topic that brought us here.
He continued talking about how Luna Bella was loved by everyone. He talked about when she was still younger and her husband, Alpha Xavier's father was still alive. He even talked about her occupation back then which was modeling.
He was just like a fanboy and the look on his face made me want to laugh.
After talking to Fryster for so long, my mood felt a lot better and I was no longer thinking about what Alpha Xavier did to me. I just listened to him, laughed and contributed to some things.
After a while, he seemed to observe that my mood was a lot better and he stopped, only then did I realise he only went into details because he wanted me to cheer up. Everything he's been saying was just to make me stop thinking and that warmed my heart.
"Should we continue the training?" Fryster asked with a sparkling smile.
"I'm all ready!" I replied cheerfully and he chuckled.
He continued the lectures about how to be a good Secretary and soon, he placed two books in my hand "You should read these. They will help you a lot," He told me.
I opened the books and just from their first pages, I knew they would discuss extensively how to be a perfect Secretary which made me happy. I had always loved to read though so getting two different books didn't faze me at all.
Fryster crossed his arms and closed his eyes "That will be all for today. Your training will go on for a month and after that, You will start your Secretary's work properly. Do you understand?" He imitated the tone of a strict teacher which made me want to laugh.
I nodded my head instead and started reading the first book. It was already late in the afternoon and I was feeling a bit hungry but according to Fryster, we had to wait for Alpha Xavier to give us the go-ahead first which he always did early but for some reason, he hadn't told us anything even though it was past 2 in the afternoon.
Soon, I heard footsteps coming closer and I raised my eyes to see who it was. It was a lady in a short black gown that hardly covered her private part. She wore heels, increasing her height and her face was thickly designed. Her bright skin made her look like a goddess but the aura around her made me feel a bit disturbed.
She walked over with her head held high and stood in front of me. "Are you the new Secretary?" Her tone was high, it was as if I was being interrogated by the madam and If anyone was supposed to be the madam, that should be me!
I stood up and revealed a professional smile "I am," I replied.
Fryster also stood up and moved closer to me "That's Jessie, an actress and the female lead of the ongoing drama that Alpha Xavier is leading," He whispered in my ears and my eyes twitched.
I looked at the lady properly and only then did I recognize her. I wasn't that big of a fan but I'd loved watching her dramas.
"Oh?" She said dismissively and looked toward Alpha Xavier's office. "Is your boss in?" She asked and I nodded.
"Do you want to see him? He seems busy right now," I replied and a frown settled on her face
"Do you mean I can't see her?" She asked, her anger and arrogance made me feel a bit suffocated.
I sighed "That's not what I said. I will go ask him first," I said and moved away from my seat but before I got to her, she already started moving.
She looked at me and rolled her eyes "You are a big fool," She said arrogantly and walked toward the office.
I tried running after her only for Fryster to hold back my hand "Don't go. Just let her be," He said and I frowned.
"Won't Alpha Xavier scold us for that?" I asked.
Fryster shook his head "She would be the one scolded for barging inside the office. You don't need to bother yourself with that," He replied.
"Oh?" Hearing that, I walked back to my seat and sat down.
We watched Jessie knock on the door several times but there was no response. She continued knocking but no one replied from inside and she seemed frustrated. She turned to look at me but I quickly looked away, ignoring her.
Fryster ignored her too and instead, he started explaining some things inside the first book to me.
After half an hour, Jessie walked over, making a distracting noise with her heels and stood in front of my desk "Can you let him know that I'm here?" She asked arrogantly.
I looked at her and cocked my head to the side. I wished I could just insult her back but I stopped myself when I remembered what Fryster told me earlier *You should always meet every client and guest with a smile,*
"Okay," I said and stood up.
I walked over to the office and knocked "Come in," I heard the usual cold voice from inside and opened the door.
I entered the office and walked toward him "Sir, Lady Jessie is waiting outside. Should I let her in?" I asked.
"Yes," He replied with his eyes closed.
I left the office and returned to mine, "You can go in," I told her and she rolled her eyes at me before she left.
I walked over to my seat and shook my head "Watching her dramas, you would think she's a perfect woman. Who would have thought she's so rude?"
Fryster chuckled "Talking about perfect, You fit more into that term than her, really. Jessie is not even as beautiful as you are even though she is a werewolf,"
ALPHA XAVIER'S POV I stared at Reah who was still sleeping peacefully on the bed. Her lips had a small smile that confused me and warmed my heart somehow. Reah was an enemy. Without a doubt, she was the little girl who tried to kill me back then and the main reason I could no longer find Mina. Knowing that I had always promised myself to kill whoever caused that fire if I ever met her again, only for me to meet that culprit and be helpless, I felt very frustrated. I was supposed to kill Reah, I was supposed to torture her and make her feel the pain I felt with Mina that day but... Mere seeing her in pain made my heart ache so much that it was usually hard to breathe. She owed me the debt of life which I was supposed to take from her but the thought of killing her alone made me feel miserable. I felt guilty. So guilty that I stopped searching for Mina because I knew more than anyone else that I didn't deserve her anymore. The fact that the culprit was living in my home as my wife
REAH'S POV "I will take my leave now," Beta Mathew said as he left the room. I just continued waving my hand at his back absent-mindedly. Instead of reading so many books every day, I would rather just escape and return when Lady Bella returned. There was no need to continue staying in this house, right?I pouted my lips as I hung my shoulders low, it was impossible to run!I dragged the already heavy bag to the couch in the room and dropped it before sitting. I opened the first book *Fifty things a pregnant woman shouldn't do,*The title alone already looked so boring that it made me want to sleep. I stared at the book for a while before opening the first page to see what was written inside exactly. Seeing the first page, I suddenly felt intrigued because apart from the big writing of the publisher, there were pictures there too! It was like a book made for kids but that only went ahead to show how creative the writer and the publisher were. *I know how lazy pregnant women can b
REAH'S POV "Alright, thanks," I replied as I collected the envelope and returned to the room. I opened the envelope and brought out the invitation card inside. It was a black card, thin and long. It had a metallic feeling even though I knew it wasn't metal. Touching the paper made me realize that they must have spent a lot of money to make it. That was expected though, not all Luna had the same treatment I had in Alpha Xavier's home so there was no way they wouldn't have a lot of money to do as they wanted. I dropped the invitation card on the table and walked toward the mirror to look at myself. As expected, I was a beauty, a very beautiful girl who might have won herself a very good man if she was even a tiny bit lucky. My hand pressed on my belly and I let out a deep breath. My mind felt hazy from the tiredness...I stood up after a while and returned to the bed to rest again. All I could do for the day was sleep and sleep, right?Closing my eyes, I soon slept off and only wok
REAH'S POV After an hour or so, Alpha Xavier stood up and walked toward the bathroom. He spent a few minutes in the bathroom before he stepped out with his towel on his waist and his eyes fell on me. "Get up and sleep on the floor," He ordered. My brows furrowed, and my mouth parted to ask him questions but in the end, I could only swallow and stand up as he said. I entered the bathroom and had a nice bath before I returned to the room in my bathrobe. I placed some blankets on the ground, slept and covered myself with another. Alpha Xavier was already in bed by the time I came out of the bathroom and he seemed to be sleeping already, too. I turned around and rested my head on my hand, wanting to look at his side profile that faced me. A long nose and a perfect side profile with a very clean skin that would make a woman jealous. I let out a deep breath and closed my eyes gently. Right then, I realized my feelings for Alpha Xavier were slowly fading away. Maybe he had indeed done
REAH'S POV My eyes widened and I was incredibly shocked. I subconsciously touched my lips that had been kissed, my head turned slightly to look at Gabriel but to my surprise, he was already fast asleep!"You've been having a lot of fun, Luna Reah," Alpha Xavier said coldly, his eyes dark and gloomy. The room was quiet, everyone was looking at us and the music had stopped. Joyce walked over, her face was flushed and she looked very scared "A... Alpha..." She stuttered. Hearing that, a gasp filled the room and the next second, everyone fell on their knees as if they'd done something terrible except Gabriel, who was still sleeping soundly. "Alpha!" They all chorused as greetings and some of them raised their heads to look at me. Their eyes were filled with confusion when they saw the Alpha holding my hand and I knew they must be wondering what our relationship was. Alpha Xavier left my hand and grabbed my waist "My wife must have drank a lot," He said calmly but only I knew how co
REAH'S POV The day flew faster than expected and before I knew it, it was already Gabriel's birthday! It was a Saturday party, so there was no work hindrance and due to the nutrients I'd been taking, The doctors confirmed that my baby was very strong already. They even told me to stop as too much of everything was worse than not taking it at all. Alpha Xavier had traveled since yesterday for a business trip with Fryster which made me very happy. I did not even bother to tell him about the birthday party because he would only come on Monday ~I had arrived at Gabriel's place an hour ago, waiting for Gabriel who had gone to his office to pick up some things he forgot yesterday. Joyce and I already prepared everything. The birthday party, according to Gabriel should be very small with an attendance of not more than twenty guests. He wasn't planning to have too many guests so we decided to have the party in his house instead of renting a hall for just less than twenty guests. "We are
REAH'S POV "You don't like the food here?" I was so surprised. Then, why did he eat with me earlier?Fryster seemed to notice my confusion as he smiled "It was your first day here and you might feel lonely eating alone. I decided to join you but the truth was that it was my first time eating here then," He explained and my eyes widened. He had his hands in his pocket as he looked at my face with a small smile on his face. His tender look moved my heart and looking back into his eyes, all I saw was his concern and care. "Thanks, Fryster," I said sincerely. I felt grateful to him. Fryster's smile widened as he nodded and waved at me "You should quickly leave. Alpha already delayed you for an hour," He suggested, walking forward while I walked beside him. "You're right. I will be back soonest so you won't have to face his wrath for me," I joked and Fryster smiled. His eyes wandered to Joyce who was standing not far away from us and he immediately looked away as if he wasn't pleased
REAH'S POV Staring at the countless papers on the ground, I felt a deep ache in my heart. I checked my time and realized it was only one hour to Lunch period which I was planning to use with Joyce but looking at the papers on the ground, I doubted I would be able to finish it in two hours even if I tried my total best. I looked at him, pondering what to do but then again, standing was wasting more time so I decided to get to it. I had taken the nutrients which in turn gave me the confidence that my child wouldn't be easily hurt. I started arranging the papers, picking them according to dates, relevance and categories. Some talked only about one product and needed to be placed together, some might be about hotels, which must be placed together. Like that, I arranged the papers as quickly as I could. Not long after, my phone started ringing and when I looked at the caller, I was surprised to see that it was an unknown number. I hesitated a bit but still decided to answer the call "H
REAH'S POV "Whatever, I have to keep working now. You should sit here and wait for me," I explained and at the same time decided that I would explain how werewolves worked to Joyce later so she wouldn't say anything that shouldn't be said around them, thinking they wouldn't hear. I guess she had no idea about their sharp ears. Joyce took my hand and smiled softly, I led her to the seat and without a word, she sat with her eyes fixed on Fryster who was busy working. I also walked to my seat and sat down. "Are you going out today again?" I asked him. Being Alpha Xavier's assistant meant that he would have a lot of work to do too. The fact that he was helping me even though he already had too much on his plate made me feel special...Fryster raised his head to look at me and held his chin as if he was deep in thought "Alpha Xavier has a meeting later in the evening around 5. He might want either of us to go with him," He explained and my eyes twitched. My heart started racing and I
