CHAPTER 23: JESSIE

REAH'S POV 

There was silence between us for a while as I started reading the book again but I realized my heart wasn't that settled. I looked at Xavier's office but I couldn't see inside no matter how hard I tried. He had closed off his windows!

I let out a deep breath and looked toward Fryster who seemed to be working away on his laptop. "Does she always come here?" I found myself myself. 

"Jessie?" Fryster asked and I nodded. "She comes here almost every week. I even heard she pulled some strings to be cast as the female lead of the drama Alpha Xavier is in. So, she could be his partner." He explained. 

"Does she like him?" I felt a little scared while asking that question as it made me wonder if Jessie was the woman I was substituting for. 

Fryster nodded his head "She is obsessed over him but Alpha Xavier doesn't like her at all... Till now. He would always send her out of his office and even looked for ways to make me take her away. However, since they started working together, things have changed between them. Alpha Xavier is starting to tolerate her and she's such a pain in the ass," He replied and my eyes twitched. 

I felt restless and I couldn't help but think about what they could be doing inside at the moment. They'd been there for more than 20 minutes already and Jessie was still there. Alpha Xavier even had the windows closed to protect them, could they be having fun there?

My mind went back to the things we did last night and I remembered that even though he was so erected, he did not have sex with me at all. Was he trying to relieve it in her? Was he planning to have sex with her in his office?

I looked at the office again with contempt in my eyes but decided to forget about it. I returned my focus to the book and started reading again. 

I buried my head in it, wanting to wash away all the distracting thoughts in my head but it wasn't working. After a few minutes, I could no longer take it and I dropped the book. "Isn't there any file Alpha Xavier needs to sign here?" I asked Fryster. 

He raised his eyes and looked around. He was about to shake his head when his eyes lit up "Can you help me hand this over to him?" He picked up a file under his laptop and handed it over to me. 

I smiled brightly and received the file from him "Of course, I can do that for you," I replied and stood up. 

I walked toward the office and without knocking, I opened the door and entered. My thoughts were messed up and I wasn't in my right mind, all I wanted at that moment was to see what they were doing and with that impulse, I just entered the office without bothering to knock and there was a scene in front of me!

Jessie was standing in front of Alpha Xavier. She grabbed his tie and pulled him closer to herself, she stood on her toes as she moved her face closer to his. Their lips finally touched and I gasped. 

I was so shocked that the file I had in my hand fell to the ground and I staggered backwards. 

The sound distracted them and Jessie looked back. She released Alpha Xavier's tie and looked at me coldly "What was that?" She questioned. 

I shook my head and quickly picked up the file that dropped to the ground. I looked at Alpha Xavier, who was staring back at me and frowned "I came to give this to you. Your signature is needed," I replied, not paying attention to Jessie. 

Jessie seemed even more annoyed seeing that I had ignored her. "You barged into your boss' office without knocking just to drop a file? Are you kidding me?" She questioned but I continued to ignore her. 

I walked toward the table, my eyes fixed on Alpha Xavier, who was just staring at me without saying a word. "I will drop this here," I said, still looking at him. 

"Bitch! How dare you act like you do not hear me? Who the heck do you think you are?" Probably because I was closer to Jessie, her loud voice entered my ears and distracted my thoughts for a second. 

I turned to look at her and a deep frown settled on my face. I saw her kissing my man and I was yet to attack her but she was already insulting me. "Why are you barking like a dog? Does being a werewolf make you a dog relative?" I questioned and her eyes darkened. 

She stomped forward, she had lost it and it seemed she was going to hit me. Knowing she was naturally stronger than I was, I took a step back and turned to look at Alpha Xavier "I had no idea you even bring your sluts into your office. Ain't you going too far?" He might act anyhow to me but I was still his wife and he needed to pay me that much respect!

Alpha Xavier looked at me, he fixed his tie properly and moved toward his seat. Without saying a word, he sat down in his seat and started working on his laptop again. 

Seeing his attitude, I felt incredibly embarrassed. I had watched many videos where ladies fought over men and I had always told myself that something like that would never happen to me but who would have thought that a day would come when I would be fighting with another woman and the man who caused everything would be there sitting as if it wasn't his business?

I let out a deep breath and turned around to leave, not wanting to escalate the matter any further. However, Jessie dragged my arm and pulled me back, making me face her again. 

"You low-life fool! How dare you open your mouth to call me a slut?" She asked and raised her hand, ready to slap me. 

Seeing the hand coming, I readied my hand to stop it but I wasn't confident. As a werewolf, even a human male might not be as strong as she was. So, planning to stop her myself was just an instinctive reaction from my body. 

Just when I thought she was going to beat me up, Alpha Xavier appeared out of nowhere and grabbed her hand, throwing it back. "Don't you dare touch her!" He warned her. 

Jessie was shocked, she looked at me and her gaze turned back to Alpha Xavier with a shocked expression on her face "She... You... Are you going to take her side? You heard her call me a slut!" She cried out. 

Alpha Xavier glared at her, "She is mine, she has the right to look down on you," He said it as if he was saying a fact and after that, he pointed to the door "Get out," He ordered. 

Jessie looked displeased, she stormed her feet on the ground and glared at me but in the end, she couldn't say a word as the person in front of her was her Alpha. She just glared at me one more time and left the office. 

I watched her leave and a small smile formed on my face. It wasn't expected, it wasn't planned, it was just instinctive. Alpha Xavier standing up for me, taking my side and declaring to her that I was his, had that much effect on me and it made my heart race. 

I watched her close the door behind her and only then did I return my gaze to Alpha Xavier.
