Chapter 13: school group

We toured the rest of the house, finally arriving at the second room. When she stepped in, she screamed and burst into tears.

Ann: “You decorated a whole room to my taste?”

Me: “Yeah. I thought giving you your own space would make you feel safe. Whenever you need alone time, this room is your own world. No one will disturb you unless it’s necessary. But we’ll be staying together in the master bedroom for now. When the moving company arrives, your things will go in my room, okay?”

Ann: “Why do you spoil me so much? You make life easy for me… What would I do without you?”

Me: “Princess, if I don’t make life easy for you, who will? I’m not giving any other man the chance to take you away. You belong to me, and me alone.”

Ann: “What if another woman takes you away from me? What would I do?”

Me: “No woman will. I’ve had crushes before, but they ended there. Speaking of which… there’s this girl I met when you and Mike were together. She always wears a hijab. I used to think I liked her, but compared to how you make me feel, I know now it was just infatuation. I’m telling you this so you don’t feel pressured I just don’t want to hide anything from you.”

Ann: “So if you meet her again, would you leave me and go back to her?”

Me: “No, I wouldn’t. I never even got her number when I wanted to. At least now I know God had a different plan for me and that was you.”

Me: “Let’s sleep early tonight. We have class tomorrow. Leave everything else; I’ll hire a new housekeeper to take care of the house.”

Ann: “Why hire someone when I’m here? I can help, too.”

Me: “No, you can’t. Your hands are too soft they’re not meant for hard labor.”

Ann: “If you keep spoiling me like this, I’ll become extremely arrogant.”

Me: “No problem. I’ll handle you. And when you get too stubborn, I’ll spank your ass.”

Ann: “No, no, no, don’t spank me. I won’t be stubborn.”

Me: “That’s my princess.”

She tiptoed and kissed me. I wanted to go further, but I controlled myself.

We showered, changed into pajamas and a nightgown, and she fell asleep quickly.

I still had some work left cross-checking a company’s weekly analysis and highlighting errors. Actually, I’d finished it; I just needed to arrange and send it. Once submitted, I climbed into bed, cuddled her, and dozed off.

Our lecture was at 10:00 a.m. I woke up around seven, made breakfast of bread, scrambled eggs, and milk tea, cleaned the house, emptied the trash, and showered.

I studied the day’s lecture notes, reviewed some work documents, and checked my schedule with my online personal assistant. By 8:30, I woke my sweet girl up for her bath.

Once she was dressed, we had breakfast and drove to school. Of course, I wasn’t letting my baby girl trek every day.

That day’s lectures ended early. We went straight home to wait for the moving company. When they arrived, Ann and I arranged everything in my room. By the time we finished, it was already evening, so I quickly made stir fried noodles. The housekeeper I’d hired; a middle-aged woman was starting the next day.

While I was cooking, I heard Ann shout. I rushed to the room.

Me: “Babe, what’s up? You good?”

Ann: (In shock) “Baby… we’re on the school group chat.”
