Uncle Su: "She's been like this since I knew her . I think that's just her personality."

Me: "Yeah, it is. That's why we call her Big Baby. Our not-so-little princess." I laughed. "Please get them to bring her packages to my room while I go see her."

Uncle Su: "Yes, young master."

I went back into the main house and headed straight to her room. I knocked.

Mom: "Who's there?"

Me: "Mom, it's me. We need to talk."

Mom: "Ohh, come in."

I entered her massive master bedroom. It was full of purple and light pink, like a teenager's dream. A king-size heart-shaped bed with an orthopedic mattress. A large 10x15 picture of her and my dad hung beside the bed. There was a cupboard where they kept car keys, dollar mints, letters, and probably my mom's snacks,I'd spotted some before.

Adjacent to the bed sat a large customized vintage cushion where my dad loved to rest and play games on his phone. The windows were covered with remote-controlled vintage curtains. A ceiling-to-floor dressing mirror held her makeup, perfumes, and skincare products. Marble floors. A pop ceiling with enough lighting for a content creation studio. Just beside the bathroom was their luxury walk-in closet.

My parents had taste. A clear eye for modern luxury.

I sat on my dad's cushion.

Me: "Mom, what's up?"

Mom: "I'm okay." She was checking out new clothes she'd recently bought.

Me: "So did you get the plant?"

Mom: "It's not a plant. It's a flower." She scrunched her face.

Me: "My bad. So you got the flower?"

Mom: "Yeah, I did." She turned to me excitedly. "Raun, do you know one woman from an aristocratic family in Z City tried to compete with me at the auction? Imagine her raising a bid I made from 2 million to 5 million." She laughed wholeheartedly. "She thinks I can't afford 5 million? Not to mention 5 million even if she raised it to 5 billion for a flower, I would've afforded it."

Me: "5 billion, Mom? For a flower?"

Mom: "Yeah." She rolled her eyes. "You think I can't afford it and have to rely on your dad? I pity you, my darling. Before your dad married me, I was the only child of my family. A spoiled princess. When I married your dad, my father wanted to hand the family business to him, but he said it should go to me instead. It was my father's sweat. Plus your dad is the heir of the Shengans. Although joining both businesses would help him, he saw it as more workload.

"So there's a special team in charge of the company. My dad goes sometimes to supervise while I eat the money, hehehe. And again, 5 billion is nothing to your father. If I ask him, he'll give it to me,7especially if it's for my beauty. Even you could afford 5 billion. You just don't love me enough to give me that much for a flower. Woooohooooo."

Me: "Hey, hey, Mom. Who said I wouldn't give you 5 billion for your flower?" I laughed. "Didn't I say I was going to send it down without you attending the auction? I had the intention to buy it for you anyway."

Mom: "Yes, yes, yes. That's right."

Me: "So how much did you finally pay for your flower?"

Mom: "I got it for 600 million. Anyway, I was too lazy to drag it out with that woman, so I raised the price high."

Me: "Okay, so where's the flower now?"

Mom: "It's at the spa. They have to prepare it before I apply it. I'll go apply it tomorrow, and then my skin will look like a baby's. Ooooh, I'm so excited! I can't wait, I can't wait! Raun, I even bought some new lingerie. Your dad is coming back next week. I'm going to seduce him into buying me an island in Dubai."
