Chapter 33: mommy 5

What the hell did she want to say before passing out? Why hadn’t she woken up yet? How did she even slip?

My mind raced 10,000 miles, searching for answers, asking impossible questions. I was scared. My heart pounded. Uncle Su looked like he was about to have a heart attack. The maids were panicking . The whole house was in chaos.

Damn. One of the worst mornings of my life.

I kept thinking. My heart kept beating. Then I texted My assistant, he was slow to reply. I started praying. What would I tell my dad? That he left on a business trip, only for me to call and say his wife was missing? That something happened to her?

No. I didn’t have the balls for that. I had to find her. I had to keep her safe for him.

Oh, big princess, where are you? I thought out loud.

Then we heard footsteps again. Everyone in the living room went silent, you couldn’t even hear us breathing, not to talk of a pin drop. We we’re all quite , as if waiting for miracle to happen, or somehow good news to be told. Then another maid ran in. She almost slipped, thank Jesus, she caught the chair beside her just in time.

Me: "Just stay there and tell us what you want to say."

Maid 2: she bowed "Good day, Young Master. Madam is back."

Me: "My mom is back?"

Maid 2: "Yes, they’re about to enter the main house now."

We all rushed outside.

By the gigantic second gate, with the crown emblem, just past the lion statue, the chauffeur stopped. My mom stepped out of the car gracefully.

Mom: "Hey, son. Why are you all outside?" She looked at us curiously.

The woman looked fine. Like she’d just signed a billion dollar contract while we’d been having heart attacks.

Gosh. She’d worried us sick and was asking why we were outside? Couldn’t she see the panic on our faces? This woman was really, really a baby, always making us look out for her.

Me: "Mom, what happened to your phone?"

Mom: "Oh, that. It ran out of battery. I was too engrossed in the auction last night, forgot to charge it. And we left first thing this morning."

Me: "So why were you screaming?"

Mom: she walked towards me excited "I saw a pink Lamborghini. The owner is my friend. I shouted because I hadn’t seen her in four years."

Me: "………"

Uncle Su: "………"

The Maids: "………"

We were all speechless. She saw a pink Lamborghini and screamed? Are you kidding me? Were we about to die of anxiety for that?

She pulled me from my thoughts.

Mom: she held my hands "Raun, let me tell you, on the way back, I stopped at the mall and got you a tie. I’m sure you’ll love it."

Me: "A tie?"

Mom: "Yes, a tie.” Then she looked at the butler “ Uncle Su, please have the maids take all the packages to Young Master’s room."

Uncle Su: "Welcome back, Madam. I’ll do that right away."

It suddenly hit me why I was so fine with Hamida’s tantrums, my mom was just like that. You can’t handle my mom and not be able to handle Hamida. Such wasted skills.

Me: "Okay, Mom. Thanks for the tie." I shook my head.

Mom: "That’s fine, that’s fine. I’m the most thoughtful person." She walked proudly into the house.like a cat with his tail in the air.

After she left, we stood in the compound.

Me: "So all that panic was for nothing?"

Uncle Su: "Not really, Young Master. At least Madam is safe."

Me: "But for real now… when will Mom stop being so carefree?"
