CHAPTER 3

Camila

I groaned and rolled in my bed when I heard the alarm clock ring. I sat up and stared around the room. I almost had a heart attack when I realized I wasn’t in my room. The ceiling was white for one, I know I always had peach walls. I stared around the larger room. It was white from bottom to ceiling. I lay on a four poster bed covered in white sheets. There were two doors, probably leading to the bathroom and closet. I slipped out of my bed and looked at all my bags stuffed ata corner. I was in Roman’s house.

My eyes moved down to the emerald ring that encircled my finger. The events of yesterday came rushing through my head. I was engaged to the cocky arrogant billionaire. So much for life. I stared at the alarm clock and gasped. It was 7:45 and school staretd at 8:15. I ran into the shower; it was as big as my bathroom back home but I didn’t let my mind rest on that for long. I took a quick bath and stepped out. I chose a white hoodie that I stole from Xavier and a pair of white washed jeans. I grabbed my book bag and phone before making my way to the door.

I opened it quickly and ran down the quiet hallway. It was red carpeted and led down a set of winding stairs. I raced down not bothering to stare at the fantastic furniture of the rooms I passed. I walked to the front door and flung it open and flew straight into a chest. I looked up at the tall man guarding the door, he had blonde hair and a gun holster at his waist.

“good morning miss” he said. I smiled softly.

“please, can I get a ride to Lincolns University?” he stared at me with furrowed eyebrows. “did Mr. Romero order this?” I nodded slowly. I hadn’t even seen Roman at all the entire morning. He still seemed unsure but he ordered the driver to take to school. I slipped into the back of the car and he drove off.

I was just 5minutes to the beginning of lectures but the problem was, it took me 5 minutes to walk to the psychology department. I walked as fast as my legs could carry me and slipped into the class before the lecturer shut the door.

“you were almost late” my best friend Olivia stated as I took the seat beside her. I shrugged. I was never late and won most punctual student every year.

“tell you later” we settled down for the class and the lecturer started to speak.

“so you’re saying that you got engaged to Roman Romero?” Olivia my best friend asked as we sat at lunch. She gave me an are you insane look. I nodded my head slowly. “Roman Romero as in the hottest guy in the entire country, youngest billionaire, arrogant and cocky, owner of multibillionaire company Romero limited” Olivia looked like she was about to die. I raised my hand and showed her the emerald ring on my fingers. Her eyes went wide and she was about to give one of her girly screams when I placed my hand over her mouth.

“shh, nobody here knows yet” she grabbed my hand and stared at the ring in disbelief. The cafeteria went silent when an announcement came over the speakers. “please miss. Santiago come to the head office, thank you” the entire student body turned to face me. I was shocked myself because I was never called to the office for anything and it was a shock to everybody.

I stood up slowly aware of the stares I got and walked out of the hall. My heart was beating fast as I made my way to the Vice-chancellors office. I reached the large double doors and opened it slightly. I was welcomed with the smile of the receptionist. At least it was for a good cause.

“Mr. Reeds Is waiting” I nodded and at her and walked to his office which was just opposite her desk. I knocked softly and entered when I heard a soft come in. I gulped.

Roman was seating in front of a shocked and scared Mr. Reeds, with his legs crossed and arms crossed over his broad chest. He looked pissed, annoyed and angry. He stared at me once I walked in with an unimpressed glare.

“Miss. Santiago, um...you know Mr. Romero here?” I nodded slightly. “he came to fetch you” I turned to Roman. He was still glaring at me, then he stood up, grabbed my wrist, bade the vice-chancellor good bye and led me out. We walked into the silent hallway and he stopped.

“I don’t appreciate people leaving without permission and thinking they can lie to get away with it” he said through gritted teeth. I remembered I lied to the guard that he gave me permission to leave. I didn’t say anything. I just stared at him. “Camila” he warned.

“sorry, I just wanted to go to school” I said in a small voice staring down at my fingers. He placed his fingers under my chin and raised it up to meet his stare.

“it shouldn’t repeat itself or there’ll be consequences” I nodded. “words, please”

‘His face softened a bit but the angry glare didn’t leave his face. He took my wrist again and led me down the corridor.  His grip was so tight I swore that a bruise will form on it.

“school isn’t over yet” I informed him as we made our way to his car.

“school is over for now, bambina” he led me to his car and we drove off.
