ALYSSA'S POV____________
At the moment, I felt as though life was being slowly dranged out of me as a lot of possibilities crossed my mind.
'No. It can't be. Most certainly not possible.'
I breathe in a out. Trying to stable myself and hoping I'll be alright.
My eyes glanced at my mom who was seated beside me. She placed her hand on mine which was fibbling nervously on my lap, then forced out a flash smile as she always does when trying to say, everything is going to be okay. But deep down, we both know that at this point, it might not. Am just fifteen and have a whole lot of life, dreams and careers ahead of me.
We were seated more impatiently at the office when the door suddenly opened followed by my heart beat. My mom and I instantly stood from our seats as the doctor approached. She stopped and signed, looking straight at my mother.
"The reports are out." She said, bringing out an envelope from her...coat. One which I'd dreamt of having someday. With just a glance at me, she handed with over to my mother who immediately opened.
But then became motionless. She didn't say a word, nor made any signs or movements. Just staring framly at the paper.
"Mom!"
I tried grabbing her but she adjust, slipping my hands away. And that only built more of my anxiousity.
"Mom. Please, what does it say?"
My voice with plead as ever.
"As it's been said on the report. Your daughter is three weeks pregnant." The doctor announced.
My breathe was been caught in my throat and my heart sinked as it dropped down to God knows where.
Was that even possible. I mean, I barely even know myself.
"Pr..pre...pre... pregnant!" The words still sounded so much odd to my ears. Almost sounds, impossible... Almost.
"Mom. Is..?" I sniffed. "Is it true?." I whispered. Not being able to believe the doctors words. But my mum would never joke with me. Not with such tricks.
My mom turned to me with a tiery eyes and slowly nodded. I grabbed the paper from her hands and went through it and there it was, written boldly. POSITIVE. My eyes scanned again. THREE WEEKS AND FOUR DAYS PREGNANT!!.
My eyes stricked on the last word. Pregnant!. Pregnant?... No
No... This can't be possible. I burst into tiers.
"No mom. It can't be. I can't be pregnant. It's not possible!"
At this point. I felt I was beginning to go insane. Screaming and clinching in tiers. I just felt like dying.
My mom quickly grabbed me into a thight hug as she pat my hair. She was also in tiers. Have failed us both.
"Am sorry mom. I've failed you. As a daughter and as a human myself. I really never meant for that to happen."
"Shhhh. Don't worry baby. We are going to figure this out together. You are not alone in this. I would not leave you."
But no matter the consoling or words, nothing would make it neither the less better.
Just a simple doing and....
My life is ruined.
WEEKS AGO
I was seated on the beach, outside the principal's office while going through my books.
It was few months to our final senior class exams and then, everyone would be off to their various lifes which mine would most certainly be college.
"Alyssa Milano"
The principal's assistant called my attention. "You are up."
I smiled, picking up my bag and books then walked into the office.
"Good morning principal Forster." I greeted which she replied with a huge smile.
"Have your seat, please." She beckoned and I sat right in front of her.
She adjusted her glasses while going through a document.
"Ermm. You.. called for me.?"
Her gaze moved to mine and she smiled.
"Oh yes." She brought out a file and handed it over to me as I stared at her confused.
"This-"
"This is a gift from the school to you." She smiled. I opened it and it appeared to be a scholarship to One of the best universities in the country which fees worth over millions. And it been offered to me?
"Something which is not a shock to everyone, You are the best student we have in the school. And being the fact that you've helped raised our school higher. You've won so many competitions and awards for us. So, when the scholarship came to our school, saying we have to pick a student, neither me nor the teachers wasted time in choosing you." SHe principal explain.
"I-I- oh my God. I can't believe this. Am so so grateful principal Forster. it would be an honor." I couldn't hold back my tiers of joy. Mom would indeed be so happy.
Indeed, I had planned to sign up for a scholarship school in one of our neighborhood since my family don't have enough money to send me to college. But I had never imagined to gain a scholarship to One of the best universities of every students dream. And even that, without trying yet.
"But you must know that this scholarship could still be withdrawn, okay. And it depends on your behavior. So for the next few months, the school would keep an eye on you. But due to your good records, I don't think we are going to have any troubles." The principal smiled.
LUNCH BREAK
I sat with both of my best friends, Ruby and Amelia. Honestly, Ruby has been my best friend ever since. Amelia was just someone who tags along ever since we got into highschool. But for some reason, they both never seemed to get along.
"I heard you were offered a scholarship." Ruby began. I smiled and nodded.
"I didn't -"
"What made you think you deserve it." My smile wipped away at her change of tone.
"You are not happy?" I asked and she scoffed.
"It's just a simple question Alyssa. Don't make it sound like I hate you or am precisely the bad guy here."
"You know what? You indeed are!" Amelia snapped. "What's wrong with you? She is our friend and all we have to do is to be happy for her on knowing fully well the kind of family she comes from." Amelia was outraged. I held her hand and shook my head not wanting my only friends to get in a fight because of me.
"You know what? Fuck you both. Am sick of you already." Ruby stood up.
"Ruby!"
She ignored my calls and walked away.
From that day on. She ignored me and it felt as if I was being drift away.
At the chemistry lab.
Everyone was getting ready for class while I went through my past notes.
"Alyssa Milano"
Mr sky, our chemistry teacher called as he walked to me.
"Haven't gotten a partner yet?"
I looked around, all tables we full with two partners only mine got one which was only me. I looked back at him and shook my head.
"I haven't Sir."
My reply made the rest silently giggled.
"Who would want to partner with her."
"Miss know it all."
"What a cheating slut."
"Her life is just as miserable as she is."
My classmates little whispers behind me.
"Well you better get one soon before the official practical." Mr sky adviced before leaving. I faced back down at my book, unable to look at anyone. Anyway, they already tagged me like I'm a disease. If not because Amelia was an art student, I would have partnered with her instead.
"Do you mind if I partner with you?"
I looked up and it was Marcus Aurelius. His slight golden hair falls neatly against his forehead, bringing out an innocent and yet hideous look.
The whole class erupt into a surprising gasp. I looked around and all eyes were on us.
"What a bitch."
"Marcus hardly say a word to anyone so I wonder what spell she'd cast on him."
"She's a witch."
"She would surely regret this."
They gossipped.
Oh, great. Now they are mad at me. I wasn't even the one who walked up to him. He did. I turned back to face him.
"Yo-you don't have a... partner?"
I refused to believe so cause he is one of the hottest guy in school which even most boys are dying for. His looks, so sweet, calm and gentle. Just like him.
"Most of them don't even understand which chemical to mix with which. Neither knowing their formulas. Plus, they only look for a way to get closer to me and aren't interested in the practical. But I need an A plus in this subject." He explained and I nodded. Although it sounded funny but He's right in some way. Most of them only comes to class for a show off. Not caring about marks, scores or grades.
I moved and he sat beside me.
Being a partner with Marcus actually ended up being more amazing than I had ever thought. Except the dangerous glares and tiny gossips coming from the other students. Indeed he is a nice looking boy but am not someone who is really into such a relationship that's more than friendship. Although he had helped saved and defended me in so many hands of bully's, I am just grateful.
CHAPTER 59 *Alyssa’s POV*The early morning air felt crisp as the car pulled away from my apartment. Dawn was still stretching her fingers across the skyline, the city lights blinking out one by one. My suitcase sat in the backseat, wheels spinning quietly on the leather floor. I sat beside Marcus’s goodbye text in my pocket: Be safe. I had sent one back: I will be. But the quiet hum of the engine didn’t calm me. Not entirely.I was headed out of the city with Rylan Russo, my boss, the mafia heir, the man whose world I only glimpsed in flashes of glances and tension. The trip was framed as corporate: a key client in a neighboring country, meetings, dinners, the familiar shutter‑click of business suits. But lately nothing that involved him felt normal.Rylan’s driver dropped us at the private terminal of the airport. The building was sleek glass and steel, everything polished and exact. Rylan stepped out first, adjust
CHAPTER 58The dim light of the café flickered as the door slammed open, a cold gust sweeping in with the figure that stepped through. Alyssa’s breath hitched as the silhouette moved closer—tall, confident, and unmistakably familiar.“Ruby?”The woman’s eyes glinted with something sharp and dangerous—years of bitterness, envy, and a darkness Alyssa had never truly seen before. Her lips curled into a mocking smile.“Well, well, if it isn’t little miss perfect,” Ruby hissed, voice dripping with venom. “Didn’t expect to see me here, did you?”Alyssa’s heart pounded harder, confusion and fear crashing through her like a wave.“Why... why are you here?” Alyssa managed to ask, her voice barely above a whisper.Ruby laughed—a harsh, cold sound that made the hairs on the back of Alyssa’s neck stand on end. “I’ve been watching you. Always watching. Sending those lovely little messages that kept you up at night? Yeah, that was me.
CHAPTER 57Alyssa stared at the photo in her hand—one Amelia had snapped earlier of Samantha playing by the garden. Her daughter’s soft golden hair shimmered under the sun, falling in loose curls around her shoulders. But it wasn’t just the hair. It was the curve of her chin. The arch of her brow. The way her smile tilted slightly to the left.Something about it stirred unease deep in Alyssa’s chest.Amelia, who has just arrived for a few days to pick up somethings was stairing at her in curiosity.“I just… I don’t get it,” she murmured, voice barely above a whisper. “Marcus said something strange last night. About knowing what I went through in school.”Amelia, sitting beside her, frowned. “What do you mean strange?”Alyssa swallowed hard. “He said... he knew about what happened to me back then. The assault.”Amelia’s eyes widened. “But, you never told him, did you?”“No,” Alyssa whispered. “I never told anyone
CHAPTER 56The garden lights glowed under the velvet night sky as I stumbled through the hedges, tears blurring the pathway ahead of me. I could still hear the voices behind me, the whispering condolences, the pointing looks, the blow of my past revealed under crystal chandeliers. My dress, that deep emerald gown, felt like a costume now, extravagant, exposed. Marcus finally found me at the fountain’s edge, the water silver in the lamplight, mist curling around us. “Alyssa,” he called gently, stepping closer with concern in his eyes. “Please talk to me.”I turned to face him, grief and anger mingling in my chest. I felt raw. Vulnerable. “I can't,” I whispered, voice trembling. “I can’t do this. Not here. Not now.”He reached for me, hesitated, then pulled me into his arms. “You don’t have to do it alone,” he said softly. “I’m right here.”But I jerked away. “Stop pretending, Marcus!” I cried. “You brought me
