Waking up to silence and an empty bed space beside me was the new normal. Dante also didn’t return back home the previous night and I was beginning to lose my mind over the situation. I understood that he had a lot going on at work, but absolutely none of this made sense. Him ghosting me? It was totally absurd and uncalled for no matter what. I deserved some sort of clarity regardless.

It was a very bright morning but it certainly wasn’t bright enough to lighten up the darkness that had uninvitedly covered my heart. I could imagine what the inside of my chest must have been looking like these past few days and it was an extremely dark cave with no hope of light at the end. I reached out to grab my phone lazily while I was low-key gaslighting myself to believe I didn’t care if I got a message or missed a call from Dante, but to be honest, that was everything I was hoping for. My heart raced as I opened my phone because I was indeed hoping he had maybe left a message or called while I

I only managed to calm down after my mother came in and assured me that Abigail was safe outside with my sister, Daphne. I was so drained and exhausted, my memory of what exactly happened was so faint and I was even more aggravated that the one person I had expected would run to my rescue was not even there. Whether he knew what had happened or not, I still didn’t know. The steady beeping from the machines beside me was almost comforting now. I clung to the rhythm because it was the only thing that assured me I was still here, breathing and alive. My mother hadn’t let go of my hand since she came into the room at the nurse’s call, her thumb moving in small circles against my skin as if the repetition might calm me.“Mom,” I whispered, my throat still scratchy. “What… what happened?”Her eyes softened, but her face was weary with both worry and exhaustion clearly displayed in her facial expression. “You fainted, sweetheart. I found you on the floor. You scared me half to death.”The me

  • CEO Dante; The one for me    CHAPTER 94

I woke up to an empty bed again. The space beside me was cold, and reality hit me the moment I opened my eyes. Dante didn’t come back home last night. My chest tightened as I sat up slowly, hugging my knees to my chest. A part of me had stayed awake for hours, hopefully listening for the sound of his car pulling into the driveway or the quiet creak of the front door opening. I had hoped he would come home eventually, maybe slip into bed beside me, whisper something reassuring into my ear the way he sometimes did when he worked too late. But my hopes were crushed, because he didn’t.I stared at my phone on the nightstand for a long time. My thumb hovered over his name in my messages. He was probably already awake, preparing for that important meeting with the board of directors. The very thing that had stolen him away from me last night. I didn’t want to add to his stress, but I couldn’t just sit here and act like nothing was wrong either. So I typed out a small message to let him know

The evening of the following day, it felt like a miracle happened. Maybe the heavens must have heard my cry. The moment Dante walked through the door that evening, I could tell something was different. He looked lighter, like some heavy burden had been taken off him. For what seemed like forever, he didn’t come in with that grumpy look he always had on whenever he did come home. I hadn’t seen him smile in a really long time, but today he was smiling and he looked happy. Like genuinely happy and excited to be back home. “Sienna,” he said almost breathlessly, dropping his keys on the console as Abigail rushed toward him. He lifted her into his arms easily, squishing her face with kisses while she giggled in delight. “Guess what?”I blinked, half amused, half curious. “What?”“I finally got a new PA.” The way he said it carried so much relief, like those words alone meant the weight of the world was no longer pressing on his shoulders. “She comes highly recommended by someone I trust,

  • CEO Dante; The one for me    CHAPTER 92

It was another day as a pregnant woman who was extremely drained and the father of my baby was nowhere beyond reach. The first thing I felt when I opened my eyes was heaviness. Not the type of heaviness you get as a result of not sleeping properly at night, but that full body kind of exhaustion that eats into your bones and makes you feel like just melting back into bed. My head felt foggy, my entire body felt sluggish, and the baby growing inside me seemed to steal whatever last bit of energy I thought I had left in me. But then I heard Abigail’s little footsteps trailing into my bedroom, and seeing her reminded me that no matter how drained I was, I still had to be a mom. I forced myself to sit up, groaning as my back ached in protest. For a moment, I sat at the edge of the bed, holding my stomach and struggling with myself to find the strength to move. The house was quiet. It was too quiet without Dante. His side of the bed was cold, as it had been more nights than not lately.Dra

  • CEO Dante; The one for me    CHAPTER 91

It was starting to feel strange waking up to an empty side of the bed every morning. Dante had always been the kind of man who waited for me to wake up and have breakfast with him before he even thought of stepping into his work mode. But lately, I’d roll over to find his side of the bed empty and cold with the faint scent of his perfumes lingering on the pillow being the only evidence that he’d been there at all.I didn’t want to admit how badly it stung.Work was taking up a really large chunk of his time, and though I knew it wasn’t his fault because his personal assistant quitting had thrown his entire schedule into a mess, it didn’t stop the hurt I felt every single time I heard him coming in late after midnight or woke up to his absence early at dawn. Even Abigail had started asking about him occasionally.“Daddy’s busy, sweetheart,” I’d say to her, brushing her hair back as she blinked up at me with those questioning eyes.At dinner one evening, it wasn’t just me who noticed.
