Chapter 6: Breaking the Promise

"Not used to it?" His voice suddenly resonated in the car.

She paused for a moment before realizing what he was asking. "Yes, it's not easy. After all, we haven't seen each other in so many years."

"Yeah, it's been a long time," his eyelashes flickered, his gaze still fixed firmly on her face. "But every day, I've been thinking about you."

Her body stiffened, and she heard him ask again, "What about you? Have you thought of me?"

Vivienne didn't know how to respond all of a sudden, and Asher frowned displeasedly. "Seems like you haven't."

She remained silent, and he lowered his head, his lips kissing the palm of her right hand as if leaving an imprint.

Her palm grew warm.

He looked up, a faint smile on his face. "From now on, you can think of me as much as you want because you belong to me, Vivi."

His voice was cold and commanding.

She belonged to him!

She had heard this sentence countless times ten years ago, but she never expected to hear it again after all these years.

"Asher, I don't belong to you," Vivienne felt it was necessary to make this clear. Although she had reunited with him, she had no intention of returning to the way things were before.

When she said those words, the smile at the corner of his lips froze in an instant. His fingers holding her right hand tightened, and the bones in her hand creaked.

It hurt! It was a pain as if her bones were being crushed, and the look in his eyes made her feel afraid. It was as if the person standing in front of her right now was dangerous, furious, and capable of doing uncontrollable things if she provoked him even slightly.

Vivienne struggled to twist her wrist, trying to break free from his grip, but it had no effect. His fingers grew tighter and tighter, to the point where she felt like her right hand bones were shattering into pieces.

"It hurts, let go!" she cried out in pain, her face turning pale, beads of sweat the size of beans forming on her forehead.

"Let go?" he said coldly. "Vivienne, I let you go ten years ago, isn't that enough? Or perhaps you want to tell me that you've completely forgotten our agreement?"

Agreement!

This word struck her like thunder, causing Vivienne to startle. "That agreement is no longer valid!" she struggled to speak.

"And how can it be valid?" he retorted.

She froze, his fair skin almost translucent under the light in the car. His thick black lashes partially covered his expression, his thin lips pressed into a straight line, exuding a fierce aura.

In an instant, she suddenly realized that the agreement from ten years ago was real. He had let her go for ten years, and now it was time for the agreement to be fulfilled.

A chilling sense of powerlessness engulfed her body, almost overpowering the pain coming from her right hand. After a while, Vivienne said, "I'm sorry, you can consider the agreement broken."

"Broken?" These words almost squeezed out of his teeth, and the next moment, his lips forcefully pressed against hers.

He was kissing her!

Vivienne widened her eyes, staring at his forehead, his ink-like eyes, long lashes, and that straight nose bridge as he nibbled and sucked on her lips, his tongue brushing against her teeth.
