Slowly, I turned around, only to find myself staring at the one person I had desperately wanted to forget but had never quite managed to.

Kael.

My high school crush.

The boy I had foolishly confessed my feelings to, only to have him reject me in front of the whole class, saying I wasn't his type.

Although, back then, he had softened the rejection with a promise that perhaps things might be different after we graduated.

Perhaps he would give me a chance.

And stupidly enough, I had held on to those words.

"Bianca?" he repeated, looking me over.

A nervous smile immediately found its way to my lips.

"Kael! Hi!"

I hated how excited I sounded.

I hated that my heart was suddenly beating faster just because he was standing in front of me.

He looked different. Older, more mature, and considerably more handsome than I remembered.

He was dressed in an expensive-looking suit, a designer wristwatch adorning his wrist. Two other young men stood beside him, equally well-dressed, their appearances screaming wealth and privilege.

They are Alphas, the scents are strong.

"What are you doing here?" Kael asked.

I blinked.

"Here?"

"Yes. At this company."

"Oh…" I tightened my grip on my folder. "I'm here for the recruitment."

He raised an eyebrow.

"Recruitment?"

I nodded eagerly.

"Yes. They're hiring, so I thought I'd try my luck."

His gaze travelled down my body for a moment before returning to my face.

"Do you even know what kind of company this is, Bianca?"

I swallowed.

"Yes. It's a technology company."

"And you think you can work here?"

His question caught me off guard.

"Well, I…"

"Bianca, you didn't even go to college. What makes you think you're qualified to work in a place like this? This is the best company in the city. They're rejecting qualified applicants from overseas, and you think you stand a chance?"

My smile slowly faded.

One of his friends chuckled, but Kael didn't seem remotely bothered.

"And look around you," he continued, gesturing towards the other applicants. "Do you honestly think you can compete with these people? Have you even considered your physical appearance? Do you really think this is a good decision?"

He shook his head, a mocking smile tugging at his lips.

"Bianca, it's been years, and you still haven't changed. You're still dreaming way above your league."

My cheeks burned with embarrassment.

I instinctively adjusted my jacket, suddenly conscious of my body and the way my clothes fitted.

"I know I may not meet the company's standards, but I'm not applying for an executive position," I replied quietly.

He scoffed.

"Then what position are you applying for?"

"A cleaning job."

There was a brief silence before his two friends burst into laughter.

"A cleaning job?" one of them repeated incredulously.

I nodded, trying desperately to maintain my composure.

"Yes. I heard they're hiring cleaners too. So I was hoping the requirements for that position would allow people to apply regardless of their educational background or physical appearance."

I gave a small shrug.

"Everyone deserves an opportunity, don't you think?"

Kael simply stared at me.

After all these years, a single conversation with him was still enough to make my heart behave like that of a foolish teenager.

It was ridiculous.

Despite everything, a part of me was still painfully aware of his presence. The same boy I'd once admired from a distance. The boy whose attention I'd spent so many years hoping to earn.

"So…" I attempted another smile. "How have you been?"

He gave me a puzzled look.

"Fine."

"Oh. That's good."

I nodded, suddenly unsure of what else to say.

One of his friends leaned closer to him, speaking loudly enough for me to hear.

"Dude, I think she still likes you."

The other man laughed.

"Look at her face. She's blushing so hard."

"Wait…" The first man snapped his fingers as though something had just occurred to him. "Is she the fat one you told us you rejected in high school? The one who was desperate for you?"

My eyes widened.

He burst into laughter.

"Come on, Kael. Do her a favour already. Marry her!"

"Yeah!" the other added. "Give the poor girl what she's been waiting for all these years."

"Shut up!" Kael snapped.

His expression had suddenly darkened.

His friends exchanged amused glances.

"What?" one of them asked, raising both hands innocently. "I'm just saying."

"Can you two stop embarrassing yourselves?"

He turned away, clearly irritated.

For a brief moment, I wondered whether he was angry because his friends were teasing him or because I was standing there.

Then he glanced at me.

"Anyway, Bianca, I have somewhere to be. Good luck with your cleaning job."

"Thanks," I replied slowly, heart racing.

"I guess she definitely needs that cleaning job to lose some weight," one of his friends chimed in.

I turned towards him.

"You shouldn't be talking, you know. You're chubbier than I am."

The smile on his face faltered.

Kael stared at me in disbelief before looking towards his now-offended friend.

"Don't talk to Big Joe like that," he said, sounding almost amused. "He's not a woman, so it doesn't matter. You know that yourself."

I tilted my head.

"Yeah. The rule was probably made up by someone like him."

Kael's eyebrows lifted in disbelief while Big Joe's expression hardened.

"You're pretty bold for someone who looks like that."

"I could say the same about you."

His jaw tightened, and he turned towards Kael.

"Dude, train your bitch and teach her how to talk, or I will!"

  • CEO'S ACCIDENTAL PLUS-SIZE OBSESSION    OH NO!

I'd never found myself in a situation like this before. My heart pounded so violently I thought it might burst out of my chest. I immediately threw both hands into the air, tears streaming down my cheeks. "Don't shoot! Please, don't shoot!" "Wait… is that—" One of the guards seemed to recognize me. "Lower your weapons! She's the boss's new assistant!" I stood there, trembling, wondering if that was supposed to make me feel better. If anything, it made me feel worse. What was I supposed to do now? "Lower your weapons," the guard repeated. The men slowly lowered their guns, though none of them looked particularly convinced I wasn't a threat. The first guard stepped forward, eyeing me from head to toe. "Miss, are you all right?" I nodded quickly. "Y-yes." "Then why were you running?" I opened my mouth, then closed it. What exactly was I supposed to tell him? That I'd spent hours trapped in a safe room with their boss, accidentally knocked him unconscious, and then escaped t

"WAKE UP!"I flinched and blinked my eyes open, momentarily disoriented."Are you going to leave, or do you want him to wake up first and murder you?"Sia's voice snapped me out of my confusion. What?I glanced at the man still sleeping beside me, then at the wall that had mysteriously opened.Wait... It was unlocked?!"Leave. Now!""Yes... Yes, thank you so much!"I scrambled to my feet, only to feel a sharp wave of pain shoot through my body. I'd been sitting on that hard floor for hours, and every part of me seemed to protest the sudden movement. But I didn't have time to stand around nursing my aching body.I hurried out of the safe room and into the main room. It was pitch-black, so I blindly reached for a light switch and flicked it on.I wasn't prepared for what happened next. The entire room erupted into an earth-shaking rumble.I gasped, clamping both hands over my mouth to suppress the scream threatening to escape. My legs gave way, and I tumbled backward until I landed awkw

  • CEO'S ACCIDENTAL PLUS-SIZE OBSESSION    NO HELP

I had been so happy at the thought of finally getting a job and escaping to my own place. A fresh start. A chance to build a life away from all this misery.I shouldn't have accepted this job in the first place. I should have insisted on a cleaning position. Anything would have been better than going to jail. Not that my parents would give a damn if I ended up behind bars. If anything, they would probably consider it a prayer answered. What had I done to deserve all this?I glanced at him again, another wave of guilt washing over me."Sia, is there... is there maybe a blanket or something? He shouldn't be sleeping on the floor like this.""Oh, really? Of course he shouldn't be sleeping on the floor. Whose fault is that?""I know... I know I'm at fault. Just help me out, please." I pleaded."I have no hands to fetch you a blanket, or have you conveniently forgotten that?"I pressed a hand on my heavy hurting chest."What's... what's going to happen to me?""Oh, I can give you a whole l

  • CEO'S ACCIDENTAL PLUS-SIZE OBSESSION    PASSED OUT

He didn't say a word. He tried to straighten, but his body betrayed him, a shudder running through his body before he slumped again. "Sir, I don't think you're okay." "You...I am...not..." His words came out broken. My heart lurched like a frantic drum against my ribs and panic seized me, immediately. Oh no! Tears blurred my vision, rolling hot and fast down my face as I spun towards the glowing interface. "Hey! Sia!" Silence. "Stop playing around and open the door! He's going to pass out! He's going to pass out, please!" "First, you are no one to give a command. Secondly, I wasn't built to be empathetic. Lastly, who cares?" "What the hell are you saying? He needs help!" His body staggered backwards like a puppet with its strings cut. Then he collapsed. The sound of his body hitting the floor echoed in the safe room. "OOOOOH MY GOSH! HE PASSED OUT!" I screamed, the sound tearing from my throat. "OH MY GOSH! YOU KILLED HIM!" Sia shouted back, her synthes

  • CEO'S ACCIDENTAL PLUS-SIZE OBSESSION    ARE YOU OKAY?

I let out a nervous laugh. "That's a lie! What kind of robot are you, anyway? You know absolutely nothing about me! In fact, I have a boyfriend, and yes, he's abusive!" Yeah, I had to keep my family's image on the good side. It's better to have an abusive boyfriend than an abusive parent, right? I lifted my chin, a surge of defiant pride straightening my spine. "In fact, I come from a long, long, long generation of super-happy and healthy families! My parents aren't abusive. They're the best parents ever! So, yes, I have an abusive boyfriend!" An awkward silence stretched for the next few seconds. "Poor thing," Sia responded, her voice dripping with condescension. "How can you be so proud of having an abusive boyfriend? And if your parents are so wonderful, why would you stay with a man who treats you badly?" My mouth fell open. I am going to lose my mind in this place. "Well... I... I..." "ENOUGH!" The man's voice thundered through the room. I immediately shut my mouth an

  • CEO'S ACCIDENTAL PLUS-SIZE OBSESSION    PTSD

"Shut the fuck up, Sia!"He snapped angrily and pinched the bridge of his nose with a heavy sigh. "Fuck I am so pissed right now."Meanwhile, I stood there helpless, afraid to even breathe loudly. He resumed attacking the wall. The sound of his fists landing against the iron surface was terrifying.I watched in disbelief as the supposedly impenetrable iron wall developed a deep dent. The metal curved inward beneath the force of his blows. It wasn't surprising that he possessed such incredible strength. He was a rare Alpha, after all.Tall, with a strong, powerful build—but what impressed me even more was the material of the safe room's door.Despite his repeated attempts to break through, the door remained firmly shut. Not even the slightest vibration suggested that the security mechanism was weakening.Whoever designed this safe room deserved a raise, because if this man couldn't break through it, then nobody could.I quietly moved farther away, folding my arms across my chest as I w
