Anika’s P.O.V "The finance manager is innocent. He had nothing to do with the missing money; his only mistake was being careless with the company's account," I was informed. "Alright, tell them to release him. You can go," I dismissed them, releasing a sigh as I watched them leave. It had been three weeks, and there was still no progress on the fraud case. The theft had taken a toll on the company, and we were all working tirelessly to recover the stolen funds without raising any suspicions. But so far, our efforts have been in vain. I was doing my best, but it wasn't enough. We needed to brainstorm and find a way to recoup the money before the news got out to the public. Kelvin’s P.O.V As soon as I finished getting dressed following my shower, my landline phone rang. I answered it. “Hello?” I greeted the person on the other end of the line. "Hi, Mr. Anderson, this is Rebecca from the front desk. You have a guest named Anika Downs. She claims to be your boss and wants to see you. Should I allow her in?" the receptionist inquired. I was taken back by the unexpected visit. ‘What is she doing here?’ I pondered. It didn't make sense for the CEO of a highly esteemed company to show up at my apartment hours after publicly humiliating me. "Are you still there, Mr. Anderson?" I snapped out of my thoughts. "Yes, please let her in," I permitted. "Alright, I'll send her up," she confirmed. "Thank you, and have a good day," I hung up the phone. I rubbed my forehead and let out a sigh. That woman was perplexed. I wouldn't allow her actions or words to affect me. I intended to handle the situation perfectly and not tolerate any further insults from her.

Anika’s P.O.V I stopped jogging when I saw a café nearby. I headed towards it, craving caffeine after my run and I needed it for the work I was going to be doing at the office. Entering the café, I ordered coffee and found a seat by the window. As I sipped my drink, I enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, accompanied by soft, soothing background music. Fortunately, the café wasn't crowded, so there was minimal noise and disturbance from the few people around me which was barely any disturbance. Lost in my thoughts, I felt a tap on my shoulder, interrupting my peace. I turned back to see my cheating, backstabbing, money-hungry ex-boyfriend Richard, who had betrayed me and caused me so much pain. Choking on my coffee, I coughed uncontrollably. Kelvin's P.O.V We were in the elevator together again, but this time, when the elevator stopped, we headed to her office together. Since we would be working closely, I found out that I would have to share her office. Internally, I groaned at the thought of spending two months with her as if seeing her face once a week wasn't enough. I was definitely going to get in trouble with her. I regretted agreeing to help her. I wished I could take back my statement, but it was too late. She had already informed every board member of my decision, and now I was stuck working with her for at least the next two months. She entered her office, and I followed suit. "This is my office; I'm sure you're already familiar with it," she gave me a look as she dropped her purse on her desk. There was no need for her to remind me of that moment. Kelvin’s P.O.V It was the following day, and I found myself standing in front of her office door, contemplating whether or not to enter. Uncertainty lingered within me, unsure of how she would react after the events of the previous day. Taking a deep breath, I prepared to knock on the door when I caught a glimpse of her voice behind me. "Anderson, you're late," she uttered as she passed by, opening her office door and entering. "I'm only a minute late," I retorted, trailing after her. "Nevertheless, it's still tardiness," she replied, causing me to internally roll my eyes before taking my seat. As I observed her settling down and engrossing herself in her computer work, I noticed that she appeared fine as if yesterday's occurrences had never taken place but I still wanted to be sure if she was alright. Anika’s P.O.V I continued eating as Kelvin abruptly stood up and ran outside to goodness knows where. I didn't care where he was going; it wasn't my concern. I felt a sense of relief when he left the table. I had been on edge around him since yesterday when he saw me in my vulnerable state if it wasn't intentional. I had been overwhelmed by everything happening in my life lately, and that was why I switched up to that state. I needed to calm myself down and make sure no one else knew about that problem. I didn't want anyone, not even my mom, to know that I was struggling. It was embarrassing that the person who witnessed it was someone I disliked but I had to get over it and pretend such an event never happened. I knew I needed help, but I couldn't bring myself to seek it, not when I was busy with the demands of my dad's company and trying to fix the issue at hand. "Thank you for the effort you've put into this project," I said, surprising myself with the compliment. I felt like he needed to hear it, perhaps it would motivate him further. "Hmm... no problem, I'm always happy to help," he replied, sounding a bit awkward. It was clear that he wasn't used to my compliments yet. I hadn't been a bad person to him, right? I didn't know who Fred was, all I knew was that he would be at the gathering and it was stressing me out. I needed everything to be perfect.
