Episode 2

Chosan's POV

A huge relief escaped my mouth when I heard the door burst open. Lana thrust herself in. Other werewolves rushed in with her and hurriedly dragged me out. I could hear the commotion and panic spread from the crowd that became thicker and thicker with werewolves flooding in from every corner and at a second.

A stunned cry shook the storage unit when the hook holding the heavy sack snapped. It rushed down and landed heavily on the ground where my body was. My eyes bulged and so did theirs.

"Oh the gods! We thank thee for not taking our hope away from us!" The werewolves of all ages and genders threw their bodies down as others escorted me as I was carried out on a stretcher.

My blurry eyes glanced around at the worried faces worn by the people gathered out, as the strong men helped create a path for us to freely move.

Later that night, I could hear my mother and father's harsh voice bombarding curses on that poor, sweet Lana for an hour stretch. Her hard sobbing made me rise from my bed that I was carefully laid on.

Limping towards the door, my hands clutched my head as the sharp headache came knocking. Unrelenting, I looked up through the crack in my door, then I saw Lana kneeling before my parents, brushing together her palms, as though pleading for a huge crime committed to be pardoned.

"You were asked to do just one thing, Lana! Just one damn thing but you let her get that fucking scar?! Do you know what that would cause us when it is time to join her with that picky Alpha? Can we withstand that shame then?!"

"We were just playing, Dandan. I was being extra careful." Lana gripped my father's apron that was stained with fresh blood, as always. Her eyes were red and puffy.

"Extra careful and our Chosan is there, lying on that bed!" Dandan, my father, shook Lana's hands off his shirt as he pointed fiercely at my door.

Lana flopped on the ground.

Other werewolves brandishing weapons of different shapes and sizes glared menacingly at her.

"You were told the rules before you signed up for this."

"Please, Dandan, no! I am sorry. It… it won't happen again. I promise!"

What are they going to do to Lana? I poked my head out, and gasped when my mother's hardened gaze met mine.

"Why are you up, Chosan?! Get back to bed right now, or get punished!"

Giving one last look at Lana, I quickly withdrew my head and slammed the door shut. With my mother, you can't act at your own free will. A chief's wife who carried herself so high. When you have a big position in Holy Bond pack, which is rare, you become a Dandan. Especially when that said werewolf is a chief, handling certain royal matters. Hence, dining with the Alphas and Lunas of any pack.

As my heart thumped faster, I plastered my ear against the door to listen more closely. I could only hear the screams shooting out of Lana like fireworks.

After a while, it doused down. The silence that descended in the sitting room, made it more like a graveyard at sharp midnight.

"Daddy, please don't hurt Lana." My little heart ached for her.

Two Nights After…

Chosan

I could feel everyone's slightly withdrawn from me. They would form a group and murmur irritatingly while I passed them. This continued for a few more excruciating years. Then, I was already sixteen years of age, expecting my first shift three years from that time.

Suddenly I heard, faintly…

"We're sorry, Chosan, we can't play with you anymore because of what happened back then."

"What happened? Back when?" My brow knotted as I stared at my young friends.

"Lana…" The triplets chorused.

My heart skipped a bit at the mention of my nanny I last saw that unfortunate night. A young shewolf I loved so dearly.

"I never heard anything about her after that night. Do you know where she is?"

They glanced around as if scared of something. I could smell their fears oozing out from their eyes.

"Please tell me if you know- just anything." My voice turned croaky, and I felt my eyes welling up.

"Lana was killed because of you, Chosan. She went back to our goddess last night."

"What did you just say?!"

"It is true, Chosan." Another spoke.

My gaze shifted from one to another as I felt my body going limp. My eyes suddenly felt welled with hot tears.

"Not just me, but some of us heard our parents talking about it. Lana was dragged out to…" He scratched his head, then leaned next to my ear. "I'm not so sure where they hung her. As the news of that night spread like wildfire, people started staying away from you, to avoid the wrath of your father, the highest Dandan in this whole pack as you're well aware of."

"I…" My mouth moved soundlessly, shocked by the latedark news.

"Please do not send for us anymore, Chosan, because we won't honor it."

Wide eyed, I watched my friends disappear in a flash as if someone was chasing after them. Tears streamed down my cheeks, and my heart became heavier.

"She died because of me?" My wet eyes located the heavens. "That's not fair… Dad and Mom didn't say anything to me."
